The Soul Nebula captured on Christmas Eve 2020, with more data added in spring 2021.

This is nearly 16 hours of 20 minute exposures stacked and processed in PixInsight.

The image captures the emissions of ionised Hydrogen, Oxygen and Sulphur gases and combines them using a palette similar to that used by the Hubble telescope.

The Soul Nebula is about 6500 light years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia. It takes light about 100 years to travel from one side to the other, to give some idea of the scale.
