A short guide to working with me.

Photographers are the same as any other profession (e.g. plumber, teacher, doctor, etc) and so should be treated with respect  - before, during, and after shoots.

Before Shoots

• Asking a photographer to work at a higher level than they have indicated (e.g. under Shoot styles on their PurplePort account) is level-pushing. This will not be tolerated, either before or during the shoot.
• Keep shoot communications on PurplePort as much as possible. If you need to use other methods of communication then use systems that allow a record of your discussions. This is important in the event of a dispute.
• Ensure you set levels, boundaries, and expectations before the shoot. This includes how many images the photographer can expect to be promoted after the shoot (e.g. for TFP shoots) and what time-frame they can expect to receive a reference.
• Let the photographer know how you intend to use the images from the shoot (including supply to clients, publications, websites, etc). Be honest about who will or might see the images. If the images are for porn sites then be upfront about it. 
• Refer to the photographer by their preferred name. Avoid over familiar names (e.g. babe, hun, etc), using kisses “xxx” at the end of your messages, or anything else over-familiar, unless your social or professional relationship means you are both comfortable enough to do so. This applies at all times (before, during and after the shoot).
• If paying the photographer fee in cash ensure you have the funds with you.

 

During Shoots

• A photo shoot is a professional setting and you should treat the photographer just as any other professional.
• Stick to the agreed levels and boundaries. Do not push or coerce the photographer.
• There is no need for a model to touch a photographer, move them into your poses, etc.
• Keep discussions professional. Don't discuss your personal life or enquire about the photographer’s personal life.
• End the shoot if you or the photographer are feeling uncomfortable at any point.
• Do not make sexual comments about the photographer (e.g. “amazing breasts”).  
• Give the photographer privacy and space whilst they are changing equipment. Do not watch the photographer at any point whilst they are changing equipment.

 

After Shoots

• Ensure you have paid the photographer the fee you agreed before the shoot.
• Provide the photographer with their reference and promotion of images within the time-frame and to the standard you both agreed for the shoot (e.g. for TFP shoots).
