Hello and thank you for viewing my Purpleport profile.
COVID-19 and shooting.
Like any sane person, I'm not currently looking to shoot until advised by the government that we are all free to go about our daily business unhindered. I am, however, happy to consider discussing possible shoots in advance of this time. If you think you'd like to work with me at some point in the (hopefully) near future, then I'd be delighted to hear from you and I can add you to a list of contacts I'll create. These shoots will either be in my studio based in Birmingham, or in and around Birmingham city centre. Now, I have been approached by several models about a "pay now, shoot later" kind of arrangement, but this is not an arrangement I have any interest in. For paid shoots, I will only pay in cash after I have called the end of the shoot.
Although photography is a hobby for me, I do take it very seriously. Primarily, I like to photograph people. This may be through a shoot with a model, with a portrait session with non-models, or through a street photography session. I also like to take photographs around the city, and have had several of my cityscapes printed in local publications. Coming up with concepts and picture stories is something I enjoy very much, and a selection of these were printed in a proper, real, book that people can physically buy!
I work from a studio a short distance from Birmingham city centre. The studio is situated within a 1930s industrial building, which has great natural light, but also long dark, atmospheric corridors and 3 original cage lifts which are excellent places for shoots. I am not able to hire out the studio to third parties. Please note that I don't drive, so I am unable to pick you up or drop you off if you're travelling by train. The studio is about a 25 minute walk from New Street Station, or a 10 minute taxi ride.
I also like to us the city itself as a big open air studio, utilising the wonderful buildings we have in Birmingham as backdrops, or in local parks with the vibrant colours, or in the less salubrious areas of the city, all depending on what effect I'm going for. Street portraiture and "cinematic" portraiture are very much my kind of shoots.
I have a growing number of dresses and outfits that I would like to use in shoots. These are of various styles from cute party dresses to "urban gothic" dresses, all of them in size 8 - 10, except one which is a little black dress which is a size 6.
If we do agree to shoot via one of my castings, then your "terms and conditions" do not apply, mine do, but mine are very simple. 1) Read the casting. 2) Reply to castings with more than "I'm interested". I want to know why I should choose you to work with! 3) Turn up. 4) If you fail to turn up, you agree to pay me all my out of pocket expenses for the shoot, such as studio hire, travel expenses, any outfits and props I may have purchased specifically for the shoot. This is not an exhaustive list. I no longer give images away from paid shoots. If you'd like a selection of edited images from paid shoots, then I'm open to discussing a part pay/part tf arrangement and you must mention this in pre-comms. If you fail to show, or cancel within the 72 hour pp guidelines, you will be left the appropriate reference.
So have a browse of my port, love any of the images you like and feel free to suggest any for one of those 'fpi' thingys! And if you'd like to work with me, or have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
