Hello and thank you for viewing my Purpleport profile.
Due to a near complete lack of interest in my castings, and a spate of very late cancellations, I have decided that over the coming months I will be calling time on the modelling side of my photography. I will continue shooting over the summer while I have my studio residency, and there is decent natural light to use outside, but after that model shoots will be few and far between. Instead, I will use the money models don't seem to want to finance trips away to shoot my first love, landscapes, particularly at sunrise and sunset. So if you want to shoot with me before then, best let me know now and if I see a suitable theme to shoot with you, I may well be in touch!
Although photography is a hobby for me, I do take it very seriously. Primarily, I like to photograph people. This may be through a shoot with a model, with a portrait session with non-models, or through a street photography session. I also like to take photographs around the city, and have had several of my cityscapes printed in local publications. Coming up with concepts and picture stories is something I enjoy very much, and a selection of these were printed in a proper, real, book that people can physically buy!
I work from a studio a short distance from Birmingham city centre. The studio is situated within a 1930s industrial building, which has great natural light, but also long dark, atmospheric corridors and 3 original cage lifts which are excellent places for shoots. I am not able to hire out the studio to third parties. Please note that I don't drive, so I am unable to pick you up or drop you off if you're travelling by train. The studio is about a 25 minute walk from New Street Station, or a 10 minute taxi ride.
I also like to us the city itself as a big open air studio, utilising the wonderful buildings we have in Birmingham as backdrops, or in local parks with the vibrant colours, or in the less salubrious areas of the city, all depending on what effect I'm going for. I'm also able to shoot from my flat, a short hop from the city centre. I have studio lights, and also decent sized windows for natural light shots.
I have small but growing number of outfits that can be used for shoots, like a 'little black dress', an urban gothic style dress and a renaissance style ivory coloured 'wedding dress', all in sizes 6 to 10.
I put up plenty of castings, but if you apply for any of them, please, please, pleeeeeease read them carefully, top to bottom. They will tell you all you need to know. And one or two word replies to castings, such as “I’m interested”, won’t even get you a reply. I will never pay any money up front for a shoot, so no deposits, or travel expenses (which I will rarely pay in any event) or any other money in advance will not be paid under any circumstances. Due to a recent run of late cancellations and a no show, if you no show or cancel within the PP guidelines, you will be left the appropriate, factual, reference, regardless of the reason, including, but not limited to, ill relatives, sick pets, and transport issues. If you book a shoot, I really expect you to show up!
So have a browse of my port, love any of the images you like and feel free to suggest any for one of those 'fpi' thingys! And if you'd like to work with me, or have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
