I had a fabulous first shoot at Zavod this week.

Xenia's comms beforehand were excellent, and on the day she made us feel welcome and at home from the very start. Xenia also gave us a full and extensive tour of all the shooting spaces available. There's so many cool spots to shoot in, not to mention the main studio itself...a beautiful natural light studio with multiple walls giving multiple options to get a variety of different looks. Xenia made lighting available for us, but the natural light coming was perfect, we didn't need them. This place has a really cool, industrial feeling to it. I really enjoyed working here, and could have shot all day!

I don't get to travel north as much as I'd like to, but it's great knowing that such a fab little studio is nearby when I do head up again in future. The location is perfect too, right in the city centre, it's easy to find and there's plenty of parking options nearby.

Thank you for a fab couple of hours in your studio, it's a great little spot!

This was my 1st shoot at the amazing Zavod studio. This is certainly not your average studio! SO many amazing spaces to work in presenting a remarkable variety themes and moods, and all presided over by the fabulous Xenia. A model herself, she is welcoming and knowledgeable and always willing to assist in any way she can. The shoot was lots of fun, and I'm sure I will be returning. If you haven't tried it yet, you really should!

What can I say about this studio!! apart from It's ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

from the minute I arrived I knew the shoot was going to be epic! I've not been to a studio like it! You have the normal studio space with backdrops lights, (even though there's a massive window) changing area, snacks, awesome hallways and stairways...then to top it off a cool industrial space with old mechanical machinery!! Gives an awesome gritty vibe! The images turned out fantastic! And I've fallen in love with the space so much I'm organising a studio day...just to get back there!

If this studio isn't on your “to shoot at” list, get it on there now!! Highly recommended

In less than a week since my first shoot at Zavod, I found myself back again. This time for a studio day with Ell Mae.

Once again, Xenia handled all communications greatly and was present on the day to assist. I felt welcomed from the moment we met at the door and I could easily see the thought that had gone into preparing for the day.

We shot in some different places to my previous visit and that's one of the real positives for this studio; there are just so many angles to shoot from.

Had my first shoot at Zavod on Saturday and was really impressed. The main studio itself is only small but has so much to offer it feels way bigger. The windows let in so much light there's no need for studio lights, but they are available if needed. Outside the studio is a large shared area which is full of industrial machinery which offers something really different. There is a maze like network of corridors too which again make for further opportunity. The outside area looks great, but it was just a bit too cold to give it a go this time round. Xenia is such a great host and is genuinely one of the nicest and enthusiastic hosts you could wish to meet. Will be back again without a doubt.

Would I recommend? Damn right!

What a studio, what a host, just an all around perfect shoot location!

Not massive, but it doesn’t need to be! So much to do in the studio room alone, never mind the rest of the building- such a cool set up! All the old machinery and lift doors etc are great backdrops. The studio room alone I could spend all day in and still get different shots and set ups.

And the host, Xenia, second to none! Amazing vibes, truly beautiful person inside and out.

Hope to spend a lot more time here!

I visited Zavod for the first time today, for a studio day with Ell Mae, and it's easily my favourite studio I've ever been to.

You get gorgeous natural light in the main room with a variety of walls and backdrops to use. Then there's the common areas of the building that offer much more variety; machinery, flaking walls, corridors, stairs, doors, even an outside area.

Xenia's clearly put a lot of thought and effort in, she's very welcoming and helpful too.

I'll be back the first chance I get, and have no qualms about recommending Zavod to anyone considering visiting.

I shot my first session at Zavod this Sunday and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a quirky little studio with so many features that it’s easy to find inspiration everywhere. You only have to turn a little or move a little and you’re presented with a different view. There’s been a lot of thought into what be can be shot in a main studio, especially if you like natural light through the large windows.

If you’ve exhausted the main studio, the common areas of the building provide real industrial backgrounds galore. Red doors, dark corridors, gloriously blue lift door, corrugating, brickwork, machinery and more. There’s so much here that you can involve in your your project.

I’ll be going back and I’ll definitely recommend it.

Back again to Zavod and this time, as well as working in the main studio, I explored even more of the fascinating landings, rooms and corridors that wind and meander through the lovely old Sheffield cutlery works in which the studio sits.

The natural light was, as always, beautiful and soft and the colours of the fashion set I shot stood out against the industrial backgrounds. I was extremely pleased with the results and will be back soon for more shoots. Zavod is really an amazing place, and Xenia is the warmest and most thoughtful of owners - making everything so easy for me and my model.

The studio is attracting a rapidly-growing core of very talented photographers, models and MUAs whose creativity is off the scale. Like me, they keep coming back and it feels as though the studio is becoming a hub for some unique work. That's a tribute to the thought and effort that Xenia has put into it.

Highly recommended - if you haven't shot here yet, do so!

Zavod is a well run studio with a friendly host who is always standing by to offer assistance. The studio is located in the heart of Sheffield and 7 minute walk from the Sheffield railway station. While the studio has good natural light there is also an option to shoot with a strobe and a selection of paper backgrounds . Also like the quirky walls with in the studio and the parts of the factory that you can shoot in. For those photographers who like to shoot backlit there are large windows and you can achieve beautiful aesthetic images specially during golden hour.

I had a group shoot here at Zavod Studio and I absolutely loved the quirkiness of this studio. The building was amazing and we had a warm welcome from Xenia.

There were 8 models along with the photographer and there was enough room for us to get some amazing shots!

I would highly recommend this space and would love to shoot here again in the near future!

Highly recommend this gorgeous studio, it has so many edgy places to shoot around, you’ll get an absolute stunning images and the owner is such a gorgeous lady, a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend !!! You won’t be disappointed in booking this place !!!

There's one thing I've always said about the people of Sheffield - they make an effort!

It's always been the case. Whereas many folk across this scabby Isle mooch around in football shirts and battered Levi's, Sheffieldaniums (as they're not known) scrub up reet nice!

This underlying attitude has clearly oozed into Zavod's ethos.

What a gaff! Easy to find (and on the day I was there, parking right in front of the door), the warmest welcome and a veritable cornucopia of spaces, shapes, moods, nooks and crannies in which to create shooty awesomeness!

Time flew by, giggles were had and multiple FPI gloriousness was created.

A jewel in the heart of Sheffield's industrial guts (and only a short walk from the train station, if you're not a driver), Zavod comes highly recommended.

The Boardroom

It’s not often I get a chance to leave my own studio, but Zavod totally grabbed my attention, and I couldn’t wait to check it out. The wonderful Xenia is the brains behind this little gem – and has marketed it beautifully, I love the logo and the brand of Zavod bringing a touch of Mother Russia to South Yorkshire, an area distinctly lacking a creative space for shoots.

Easy to find, especially with the fab directions that Xenia has put together, I was able to drop my kit at the door, and very affordable parking was just around the corner.

Xenia then gave me the tour around this fab place (along with a cuppa Yorkshire tea) with loads of great photo opportunities around every corner.

We had a fantastic shoot, with several sets, so many great areas to get creative. Love this space.

Also, an added bonus is an awesome burrito/taco bar over the road – perfect accompaniment!

Had a shoot here yesterday and the studio is so unique and beautiful!!! There are so many different options for various styles and ideas, Xenia the owner is also so so lovely, kind and supportive - she really made me feel comfortable and relaxed and even offered me drinks and snacks! I must say this was one of my favourite shoots and I really hope we can work together in the future ♥ couldn't recommend more, 100/10

This is no ordinary studio. It is a quirky, special gem of a place. It was so easy to book and Xenia, the studio owner, is prompt and friendly in her communications. A warm, friendly greeting followed by a tour of the studio meant that the shoot started well and progressed brilliantly from one area to the next. There are so many different settings to create a variety of styles. The natural light pours in to the main studio room. The ‘industrial’ areas are fascinating and provide so many different opportunities. I would recommend this studio to anyone. I can’t wait to shoot there again.

The first time I have rented this studio to shoot a commercial project, and it was a pleasure to work there. The owner, Xenia even help haul all my gear!

I used studio's bright daylight area to shoot video and the "breakout areas" of industrial heritage to shoot more moody stills.

Xenia modelled brilliantly, and I am really pleased that we captured the images and video to nail this project.

Zavod is a great little space, with all the facilities needed to produce - top notch - creative images. It has a cool, edgy, urban vibe in the centre of the city, so is close to all local amenities. The decor worked perfectly, as it felt the opportunities for creating amazing images were endless. There are interesting props and lots of natural light available. The icing on the cake is the very pleasant owner, who was really welcoming; providing refreshments and support. The vibe was professional and upbeat, with music playing and lots of laughs. It was an absolute pleasure to be involved and I would 100% recommended. I will be suggesting the studio for any upcoming shoots and projects. We even had a publication from a shoot at Zavod! It’s so great to so many talented people use this space and I know it will do really well!

This was the first time I've used Zavod studio but it certainly won't be the last!

A quirky industrial space right in the heart of Steel City, the studio has a generous amount of natural light with gorgeous open windows and lots of available space to shoot in the main studio or the surrounding factory. Everywhere you look there is a hidden gem or a new spot for portraits- I was in love!

The space has many plug sockets, spare stands and items like reflectors and extension leads which are something I always forget in my bag of essentials so this was brilliant. The studio owner is warm and friendly, we had tea, refreshments and lunch provided along with guidance for locations, assistance when required and lovely music to get the models in the mood.

I can't wait to rent this space again! I would recommend to creatives who want an edgy, fashionable vibe to their images.
