I had a brilliant shoot with Alan yesterday. I really liked Alan's work so I approached him for a shoot and luckily Alan agreed. We decided to use Thurston Lodge for our shoot. We discussed the ideas in great details and put a mood board together we both were happy with. Unfortunately due to the Corona virus we had to reschedule our shoot.

Alan was very friendly and easy going. He was very respectful throughout the whole shoot. I absolutely loved the way he worked paying a very close attention to detail and going over an image till we got it spot on. We took time exploring different areas of Thurston Lodge and didn't rush to move from now room to another. The time flew by so quickly. We could have easily spent much longer there. I was very pleased with what I saw at the back of the camera and am really looking forward to the finished images.

I would highly recommend Alan, it was a real pleasure working with him.

Alan’s first visit since lockdown and I have to say he was extremely respectful of the COVID-19 secure rules we have in place at the studio.

As always Alan’s communication was good pre shoot and it’s always a pleasure having him at the studio.

He was great with the model, communicated his vision well and together they produced some fabulous images. It’s always great watching Alan work with a dancer as timing is everything when it comes to catching that dance image at the right moment.

This was our first shoot with Wavepower, whom was introduced to us by Melany. embarrassingly, we did not provide to the photographer or model what was desired for the shoot. Without making excuses we can only say we truly have learnt from this and it will not happen again. We were so very lucky that both Melany and Wavepower are professionals and we're able to carry on with the day at the Retreatoutpost, and hope both got the images they wanted.

We truly hope both return in the future and see how we have processed as a new studio.

I was delighted to have the opportunity of working with Alan yesterday - one of my first post-lockdown shoots.

Alan and I have worked together many times before and is very much one of my favourite photographers to work with and a friend. As always Alan ensured that we had developed a clear brief for the shoot and we spend several weeks exchanging ideas successfully.

Unfortunately on the morning of the shoot, we were told by the venue that the horses we had hired to shoot with would not be available. I was very grateful that Alan dealt with this tricky situation in a professional, fair and considered manner. He decided to go ahead with this shoot even though the horses were no longer available and all our planning had been around looks for these shots.

It was very good to see Alan again and we achieved a socially distanced outdoor shoot in the Cotswolds, focusing on art nude figure-work in the landscape, making the best possible use of the space.

Alan has a great eye for a shot and plenty of technical abilities to get the best quality pics whether he is shooting indoor dance shots or out and about in the countryside with constantly changing weather and light.

I enjoyed our shoot immensely and needless to say Alan comes very highly recommended and I think his wonderful portfolio speaks for itself!

Alan is professional, creative, very easy to work with and a great company ! Time simply flew by !!

His pre communication were First class providing me with all the necessary infos I needed:)

We worked on a series of fashion and fine art nudes and the photos on the back of the camera looked stunning!

Shot my first and long awaited shoot with Alan in Natural Light Spaces, and safe to say it was worth all the planning and wait.

Alan contacted me after I first joined PP and he was someone I wanted to work with for a long time as his love for dance and performing shots really stood out as it's something im passionate in. So being able to shoot this style was a dream come true!

The shoot was absolutely fantastic, felt so at home, comfortable and the time shooting flew by. Images are going to be amazing without a doubt.And highly recommend Alan as he let me use some reative ideas as well as include his own. It was a team work indeed and looking forward to what future shoots may bring.

Fanny

It was a great shooting with Alan again!

We had one shooting in the last year, but this time it was so different! We used silks and pole too, that we couldn’t last time.

The shooting was creative, funny, successful, teamwork in a great mood!

First we checked my dresses and planned which dress would be the best for the different pictures. We tested how are they working and created something new again!

His lighting is always great and he worked with it to create the best light for the positions. He has a great timing for the dance movements so it was very easy to work with him!

I hope we can shoot soon together again and try things that we couldn’t before.

Highly recommended!

An Eye for Beauty

I nearly withdrew from a shared shoot Alan and I had arranged because it meant a very long day, but I am so glad I didn't. He drove which made a huge difference! We met up in Somerset where we both live, and journeyed to Photo 39 (The Cottage Studio) where the lovely Fanny from Hungary was waiting for us.

There followed nearly 5 hours of shoot time before we set off home, which I did not reach until 10.30 pm. A car drive is always more speedy when you have a companion to share the hours, and we had plenty to talk about both ways.

This is the second time I have shared a shoot with Alan, and again I learned a lot from his suggestions while assisting me, and watching him operate. He has a meticulous eye to detail and persists until he gets 'the shot'. With the boundless energy of Fanny that was no problem. The studio is quite compact and we could not have worked at the same time, but as I took the first and last hour (adjacent to drive time), it worked well. The exercise was financially beneficial in terms of rates and shared petrol. Then on the way home we were able to relax over a meal in an interesting gastro-pub. We are soon going to have a get together with a third local photographer to see whether we might have further opportunities for collaborations in the year ahead.

Had my first shoot with Alan at Natural Light Spaces :) An Eye For Beauty asked Alan if he wanted to share a day's shooting with a number of models, and I was the lucky one! Alan has been on my list to shoot with pretty much since joining PurplePort, so I was incredibly excited to have the opportunity to shoot with him!

Precoms were spot on. It was great to work with Alan after having planned for so long :) We mostly shot aerial and dance shapes, some clothed and some implied nude. Alan and I had a thorough discussion about what was acceptable for me level wise and what we wanted to get out of the shoot, which was helpful for the both of us then moving on to shoot. Alan is incredibly respectful of levels and was very mindful about my boundaries at all times. I would consider myself to be a big perfectionist, so it was great to work Alan who shares the same attributes! Despite my body being tired at the end of an 8 hour day of mostly physical work, both of us were happy to capture a pose as many times as it took to get that perfect shot we were both in love with :) I was absolutely blown away with the images taken on the back of the camera, especially the shots we had taken the time to refine. Alan has sent through a few edits already and I couldn't be more pleased with the results so far :)

Alan came with bundles of energy, enthusiasm and motivation, making for a fantastic day which genuinely just flew by!

Thank you for your positive attitude and hard work Alan! Hope to shoot with you again soon :)

An Eye for Beauty

It was great to work with Alan on a day at Natural Light Spaces which I had set up with Ariel Taylor as part of 'Le Cirque des Filles' on which I am working. We agreed to work in 2 hour 'shifts' with the other acting as assistant. That was particularly helpful in steadying the hoop and the trapeze both of which were determined to spin! I enjoying watching the way Alan works which is totally different from my own and I learned a lot as well as enjoying his companionship and material assistance.

At the end of the month we have a similar plan for working with a model at a different studio, and I am looking forward to that collaboration.

Alan contacted me after he had a cancellation - I happened to be free and was delighted to hear from him having followed his profile for some months.

We had a very enjoyable shoot today, a mixture of acrobatic and creative art nude work. Alan was completely professional and very respectful, putting me at ease instantly. He was friendly, approachable and easy to get along with. I look forward to working with him again soon!

Another great visit from Alan at the studio and this time with the lovely Twinklenose. They came with some great ideas and worked well together. Alan is always super respectful in the studio with the model and the studio itself. Always a pleasure to see Alan and look forward to his return in the new year.

After admiring Alan's work for quite some time, I was flattered when he asked to shoot me! Alan regularly attends my monthly Salisbury Social, so we chatted about a potential shoot there before finally fixing a date! I had a bit of car and traffic trouble on the day, but Alan was as lovely as ever offering me biscuits and chocolate as compensation :)

We shot at Inspire Studios, Salisbury (the best studio around) and settled on a theme neither of us had really ventured into - close up body scapes. We had lots of visual examples to influence us and likewise we were able to bounce ideas off of each other too resulting in some beautiful imagery. The lighting was perfect and Alan's directing was spot on to ensure we got the perfect picture. I am delighted with the back of camera and really looking forward to posting some of the pictures myself. I really enjoyed shooting something totally different for me and the anonymity of the images make it very interesting.

Would I recommend? Yes, without a shadow of doubt! In fact, we are already planning our next shoot as the 4 hours we had just flew by far too quickly!

Our second shoot with Alan was this time at the amazing Inspire Studios, Salisbury. Myself and Leon were touring the South-West and after such an incredible first shoot with Alan/Wavepower we were super excited that he agreed to yet another one :D

Pre- shoot communication with Alan is always impeccable, everything well thought out, discussed and planned prior to the shoot so that everyone knows what they are doing.

On arrival Alan was his friendly, warm, fun self and we looked over the moodboards first to get another feel for what we were about to work together to create.

Alan is extremely creative and always knows what he would like to achieve which shows he has a natural ability as a photographer, he is keen to create exceptional images and so will ensure he works at getting things right in the camera, attention to detail like lighting/backdrops, any creases or folds which can be minimised, hand/foot placements, down to facial expression.

He allows regular reviewing off the back of the camera so that we can all see and check for anything that could be improved.

Absolutely wonderful shoot, and we eagerly await the final edited images :)

It was my first shooting with Alan and it was just amazing!! I was a bit excited for the first shooting with him, because he had lot of shooting with great dancers before, and his pictures are beautiful. I hoped I’ll be good enough to create something new.

And we had a great first shooting and I love tge results so much!

It was so easy to work with him even though I worked very hard on the shooting. I was really motivated because he is very perfectionist (as I am ) so both of us wanted to do the best what we can do...

It was my best shooting in UK during that 2 weeks!

Alan and I had really good and complex understanding of what we wanted to shoot together before we even met. He is fanatical about beautiful shots and in the moment images.

He has a keen eye for detail and has lovely composition with his images.

During the shoot we were looking at the images and both pleased with the results.

We made good use of the light as it changed during the day in my apartment, shooting in the living room by the period windows and then in the bedroom waiting for the sun rays to pop out of the sky before late afternoon.

He is a high achiever for his work and this shows in his work.

Pre comms with Alan were amazing and thorough, I am looking forward to a shoot again soon in the near future :)

It has been a long time coming but finally myself and Alan managed to get together and shoot for the first time yesterday at the Natural Light Studios.

Pre comms were very professional, clear, informative and I was very aware of the aim of the shoot and what we were trying to work together in capturing.

Alan works in a very collaborative way with his models, he has a good understanding of dance lines/techniques in order to direct the model to ensure a WOW image is created and caught.

We worked through a range of ideas, themes, lighting styles and props and the 6 hour shoot flew by. We worked hard in perfecting certain ideas and I believe it definitely paid off.

Overall a fantastic shoot that I thoroughly enjoyed, I got the oppurtunity to push and challenge myself, try some different ideas/poses and work with a very creative, friendly, professional and experienced photographer.

Highly recommended, super excited for shoot no. 2 all be it in 2020 and watch this space for some incredible edits!!!

Had a shoot with this lovely guy at my recent studio day. I'd not worked with Alan in 2 years when we shot again but as soon as we started shooting we were into the flow like it was yesterday!

Alan has a real eye for how light falls on the form, and is all about capturing interesting and graceful shapes. We were talking about the intention of depicting a nude in an empowering way, and I think he really does achieve this - in all sets, the images were classy, refined and elegant, and he's able to capture the best angle of a pose without you having to force it or overdo it, keeping things looking very natural - one of the art nude styles I love best. We got some real stunners here.

Alan is also adaptive and shoots really well in both natural and studio light. We shot art nude in various different styles, from soft and feminine to strong dynamic poses. For each style, Alan manipulated the light perfectly to complement the posing.

It was nice to feel inspired towards the end by his dance photography and try more 'off the wall', danceresque poses. Depsite my complete lack of any sort of dance training and potentially more 'gym-bunny' than ballet dancer style movements, he managed to absolutely NAIL these and I'm SO proud of how they turned out.

Really nice to work with Alan again and very happy with what came out of it!
