References for Thurston Lodge

This was my first time shooting in a period home and I'm so glad that I chose Thurston Lodge. It's a truly beautiful location both inside and around the grounds. I can see why it's such a favourite with photographers and models alike.

Today I spent a little over 3 hours with Natasha my lovely model and we only covered a fraction of what Thurston Lodge has to offer.

But of course a great venue would be nothing without a great host and that is exactly what you get with Mark. Booking couldn't have been simpler and we received a very warm and generous welcome from Mark.

Had a Great shoot at Thurston Lodge today. Each room is very clean and tidy and offers great opportunities to make great images. There are several great areas to shoot outside as well. Mark was a very helpful and welcoming host. I will certainly be working there again. Highly recomended

First time shooting in Thurston Lodge. Its absolutely gorgeous inside. I recommend this place highly, its got an outside so you can shoot in natural light as well as inside.. every room is stunning, its got a nice bathroom, a lovely bedroom, gorgeous hallways... I can go on and on how lovely this place is. I cant wait to shoot their again. The owner Mark also made us some tea and biscuits, as it was very cold outside today haha, he was so lovely and welcoming.

I shot here with Ayla this week, Mark is a superb host, the location is spotless with endless possibilities. The rooms have so much to offer and produce a wonderful background.

I will definitely be back here soon. Highly highly recomended.

After working at the fantastic Thurston Lodge a few weeks ago we not only came away with so many great image but so many ideas which were triggered by just endless potential of the location.

Mark was once again very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed providing welcome refreshments on arrival.

The natural light from the large windows is just awesome and gives the opportunity to shoot images in numerous ways.

Once again four hours whizzed by and we have come away with another list of potential shots so it's not going to be long before I shall be chatting to Mark again.

Places of this calibre are very few and far between. I highly recommend working at this amazing location.

For anyone thinking of booking I would give this advice ,come up with 3 -4 good ideas / themes and plan them and execute them meticulously else it's a bit like a "kid in a candy shop" .

This was my first visit to Thurston Lodge which I really enjoyed! The Lodge and garden are ideal for photoshoots and the time flew by! Mark was really helpful supplying drinks throughout the shoot. There is plenty of natural light in all the rooms and the possibilities for images are tremendous! Looking forward to the next shoot!

Ive worked at Thurston Lodge loads of times now and it is one of the best places I've been too. The owner Mark is really accommodating and perfect with his balance of always being around if you need him but you can also just be left to get on with your own thing if you want too. Its beautifully decorated and the natural light is fantastic for creating some stunning shots. Its no wonder that this venue is in high demand and its popularity is well deserved. I look forward to many more shoots here!

I had a two hour shoot with Ayla at this amazing location. Lots of different places to shoot with great natural light coming through the large windows. This was my first visit but not my last. There is still much more to explore.

Arranged a half day shoot with Mark at the amazing Thurston Lodge this was our first visit and definitely not the last. We had done fair bit of research prior to the shoot and RebeccaSophia and I had several ideas we wanted to shoot.

On arrival Mark was so helpful and greeted us with fresh tea and coffee then gave us a tour of the fantastic rooms we would be able to use. I alway come well prepared to any shoot as you never know what situations your going to need lights and modifiers.

I ended up using a pair of triggers and my trusty Metz flash gun and light meter and the ISO monster D4S as the natural light was just sublime with just a small amount of fill needed on certain shot. Didn't even need a stand as I was lucky to have an assistant Val for the day.

We achieved most of what we planned but once we started working in each room we started to discovery more ideas. No doubt we will be booking another session at this truly lovely location. Mark was a brilliant host and kept the wood burner topped up and beverages for us. We came away with so many great images as always the time just flew by.

Turned up yesterday to shoot at Thurston lodge with a bootful of lighting equipment. Turns out we didn't need any of it! The natural light was fantastic even with the overcast weather. Only problem with this place is that after four hours we ended up leaving with more ideas to shoot than we'd come with! We are already planning on another shoot and we're very excited to be going back! Thank you! Very highly recommended by me :)

My first shoot at Thurston Lodge and I doubt it will be my last. Even though it was probably the most miserable day of the year it still looked amazing and still got some great natural light shots. Would love to be able to shoot there at various time of the year and see how things change. The place is very photogenic so you'll get great shots which ever direction you point the camera. Mark is a great friendly host and looked after myself (& Pippa) with tea, coffee and biscuits and making sure there were logs on the fire. Great place to shoot, recommended.

I have now been to Thurston Lodge 4 times, both as a model and a photographer and I will most certainly be coming back!

It is a stunning location with an enviable array of natural light, and works fabulous for a variety of high fashion to art nude images.

The host - Mark is always very welcoming and friendly and offers regular tea and biscuits and keeping the fire going!

I am so lucky to have this place close to me!

First time at Thurston Lodge, and very impressed. The high ceilings, large bay windows, polished wooden floors and tasteful decor and furnishings provide a wonderful setting. Natural light in abundance and even on a dull grey winter's day I used available light only, in a four hour shoot. Host Mark is very friendly and welcoming, provides excellent tea and coffee, and leaves you to get on with your work. The lounge was lovely and warm, having a big log-burner stove. The house is spotlessly clean, no trivial achievement in a large period property. There's secure private parking too. It's certainly a unique location that I'll be returning to. Highly recommended.

What an amazing Studio full of lot's of natural light and the room's that are very elegant with lots of different props to use

Mark is very welcoming and friendly but is happy to let you just get on with things

It was a 8 and a half hour round trip but as far as I'm concerned it was definitely worth the trip and definitely a journey that I'm planning to do again

Had the pleasure of shooting at Thurston Lodge recently and would thoroughly recommend the venue to anyone who wants a location with genuine character a variety of spaces (inside and out) and props.Mark is a wonderful host too, very accommodating and helpful but not at all intrusive. There is so many options to shoot here that one day was not enough and hope to be back later in the spring. If you were thinking of booking a shoot here, do it, you won't regret it.

I had the great pleasure of working with Artemis Fauna at Thurston Lodge. We spent a whole day there and barely scratched the surface of what you could do in the place.

It's beautifully styled & decorated and has absolutely loads of totally different fabulous natural light options and a most welcoming and accommodating host. Highly recommended!

I finally got to work at Thurston Lodge for the majority of today and had a fabulous time!

The location is great- just up my street (wooden floors, massive windows, period features and loads of props)

Mark was also a great host, checking we were OK every hour or so and supplying plenty of tea and coffee. There was also a log burner going in one of the rooms which was lovely!

The day flew by and I can't wait to return- perhaps in the spring/ summer when it's a little warmer! :)

I had the absolute pleasure of shooting at Thurston Lodge. So many well lit rooms for use of natural light. Truly stunning back drop for all types of photography.

I highly recommend the property and will certainly use this again for future projects.

What a place!

Spent yesterday afternoon working with Ayla at this stunning location. Fantastic windows for natural light work, and some very spacious rooms to work in. We didn't take advantage of all the opportunities but can envisage some shots that just need to be taken

The host, Mark, very accommodating. We were welcomed with fresh coffee, made sure we had everything we needed and hardly saw him through the shoot - only popping back to make sure all was OK and a coffee refill.

Well worth the pain of the British motorway network!

I certainly hope to return.
