References for Scarlet Door

I've been to Scarlet Door a couple of times before now in the past nine months and it's a great place to shoot at. Plenty of room and great kit.

Recently though I spent a day and a half working with three different models - Bexie, Lulu Lockhart and Rachelle Summers - learning different studio lighting techniques from studio owner Shawn. I'd mentioned very briefly what I wanted to do but to be honest didn't provide him many details at all. That said, we went through a range of simple yet effective techniques so that I could build up my understanding of what worked and how to get certain effects.

I had booked Bexie in the morning and Lulu in the afternoon of the first day so that I had two very different models to learn different techniques with. Shawn guided me through different lighting styles in a way that built on from the previous one, creating logical continuity. His explanations were clear and simple and he answered my questions in the same manner.

The following half day spent with Rachelle allowed me to try and do as much as I could myself whilst allowing me to run things past Shawn to ensure I was on the right track with my set up. Shawn didn't take over at any point but was more than happy to help whenever I got stuck.

I couldn't recommend Scarlet Door highly enough as a great place to shoot. Furthermore Shawn is a great asset to the studio and it's for that reason that I will keep going back there. Thanks again for a brilliant session and I look forward to coming back!

Another visit to Scarlet Door and as I expected another wonderful experience. I worked with Shawn on studio lighting with "Bob". It was interesting working with different styles and being able to add twists to the outcomes. It was definitely worth the trip for me and a location I will not hesitate to go back to. Thanks

I had the pleasure to meet Sean at his Studio (Scarlet Door) in Bracknell whilst attending a workshop day with Mike Croshaw. Sean is a great character and hosted a superb day, he is extremely attentive and couldn't have been more helpful. It was a great pleasure to be involved with the whole event, I will certainly use Scarlet Door in the future and highly recommend Sean and his Studio.

Had a fantastic shoot today at Scarlet Door. The studio is very well equipped and Shawn was always on had to assist with any setting up of lighting, backgrounds etc. Will definitely be looking to go back very soon.

Had the pleasure of shooting at Shawn's studio, when he hosted Mike Crowshaw's lighting course. A great open plan studio with a relaxed atmosphere. I have used Scarlet Door a number of times and been very bad by not adding a reference. I did a shoot Sunday 11th Jan 15 with a very new model. She was immediately put at ease by Shawn who is friendly, relaxed and very helpful when it comes to creating the look you are after.

So, I had the pleasure of shooting at this wonderful studio for the second time last week and what can I say:

- INCREDIBLY well-equipped

- Heaters that will magically follow the model around.

- Coffee whenever you want it

- Hair spray, hair pins, Jaffa cakes... If you've forgotten it, Scarlet Door has it!

- Spacious

- All the lights you could want...

This is just a fantastic place to shoot and worth it's weight in gold to any photographer and model. When booking, you can guarantee that for whatever reason, you will be pleasantly surprised on the day by something you weren't expecting. If I had to shoot anywhere, this would be my first choice and I cannot recommend it highly enough!!!

I am enjoying a run of successful workshops at Scarlet Door. I can, in no way, understate the impact that the studio and Shawn have had on my progression in photography over the last two years. The studio promotes a really social, positive vibe and this works perfectly for informal teaching and creative work.

Hopefully I can enjoy a continuing relationship with this studio and together progress! Highly recommended!

First shoot at Scarlet Door, easy to find and Shawn was great host. Helpful, plenty of tea and some good advice. Definitely recommended to all,oh and plenty of space too.

Well my two days at Scarlet Door with Shawn, I have to say were AWESOME! great hospitality, laid-back vibe, and the studio had everything I needed and more! great changing area, lovely and warm, tea/coffee/jaffa cakes/chocolate and a sandwich thrown in! Even got to shoot a great video with Shawn, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The weekend flew by, because I was having so much fun! No wonder Scarlet Door has got so popular, it really is the place to be, and I'd happily do future studio days there- Highly Recommended.

I had my first shoot today at Scarlet Door, booked with Mike Croshaw. The place is beautiful.. Big, spacious, full of props and great facilities. Lovely changing room, toilets, well equipped with all lighting and everything necessary. I also met Shawn, a very lovely guy always there to help, to make us coffee, to make sure I am not cold. I felt very good and comfortable there, would deffinitely recommend it to other photographers and models!!

Ive Been to Scarlet Door two times now and its a great Studio. Shawn is always on hand to assist when needed and always made sure i was comfortable, warm and looked after at all times. The studio has high ceilings and a great range of lights. Always happy to work there.

Had my first visit to Scarlet door at the weekend, as part of Rebecca Leah's studio weekend. The studio was well equipped and spacious. I found Shawn to be a friendly bloke and was on hand to help with any setting up or help required. Made a good wet of tea too :-) My travel arrangements meant that I didn't have as long there as I had hoped, but as the Studio isn't that far from me, I will certainly be back for future studio days that are arranged here?

Highly recommended.

I have been to Scarlet door many times over the past couple years as an assistant and this week shot there myself over two separate days. Ihighly recommend Scarlete door. Easy to get to, with everything available first hand and a variety of backdrop and shooting options. Shawn is extremely welcoming and happy to assist when it's needed and leaves us to get on when we need too. Always stocked with tea and coke, a friendly and well priced studio to rent any day. :-)

Attended a workshop here yesterday. Shawn couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and was helpful and cheerful despite little sleep.

Great space to shoot in. If you could move it a little closer to home I'd use it a lot more!
