If you are thinking of going on one of Mike's courses, you wont regret it. Mike was Prompt, polite, had great banter, was very diligent and patient. I have definitely left the best to last.. Mike has a great way of putting across what he's teaching, I learnt so much and being honest he opened my eyes to a world I was only vaguely aware of and I also feel I can move on once I've digested all he taught me. Mike comes 'Highly recommended.' I got out of the day what I hoped for and more. Hope to work with you again sometime.

Would I recommend Mike? ABSOLUTELY! Mike is great fun to work with, laid back, professional and funny. We shot in the woods near Reading and we managed to fit in 4 different looks in 2 and a half hours before it peed it down! I have already received a few pics from the shoot the next day. And they are AMAZING. I would 100% recommend Mike :)

I attended Mike's speedlight and natural lighting workshop yesterday and found it both informative and enjoyable. As the course progressed Mike led us from consideration of how, most effectively, to shoot portraits using only natural light, then gradually adding speedlights to create stunning effects and to deal with increasingly challenging lighting conditions. Throughout the course, Mike explained clearly the reasons for each setup. Mike's choice of locations was perfect, the six hours passed very quickly and with plenty of good humour.

All in all, an excellent course - thoroughly recommended.

Having attended the studio workshop earlier in the year, this time I was able to go to the natural lighting workshop which was even better.

Starting out shooting using natural light and understanding the limitations and then introducing one, two and eventually three speedlights including the use of gels to produce some great setups.

What I like about Mike's approach is that there is a sense of experimentation and then how to solve for issues that might be encountered. All of which is elaborated on with anecdotes and Mike's broad experience.

As a beginner I found both course extremely useful and can't recommend them highly enough.

Had an absolutely fantastic natural light and flash course with Mike and Irida S today. Mike is a fountain of knowledge and is happy to share it in any way he can to help you understand it and make the best use of it. If you haven't done one of Mike's courses I would highly recommend that you do, you will come away with a greater understanding and a desire to go and try what you have learnt.

I saw the details for a natural light and speedlite course workshop come up on my feed a while ago, and it matched up with one of the areas that I really wanted to get a better understanding of. The location was great for me, the duration seemed really good, the price was good, and I had a feeling that working with extremely experienced IridaS would be great, so I booked up a slot.

And I am so glad that I did!

The weather was great (always a worry I guess), and Mike was a fountain of knowledge and eager to impart it. IridaS flowed into so many poses naturally that I couldn't count them, and the other people on the workshop were great to get on with on with and seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves too.

I can't recommend the workshop enough. If you see any workshops advertised by Modelography that you think could be interesting, then book yourself in!

PS. Mike, I've ordered the xpro controller and 860II. Still looking for the AD200... :)

I had a great first shoot with Mike yesterday over and Neon dreams studio!

We shot a variety of different looks in the time we had and it was something different for me...more colour! But I had loads of fun and really enjoyed it, I'm excited to see everything!

Mike is great to work with, easy to talk to and he's very talented and creative with what he does, professional too I'd highly recommend!

I can't wait for the next one :)

It was lovely to see Mike at the studio after such a long time. Mike attended for a shoot and came along with model Emma for a one to one shoot. Mike is a genuinely lovely guy and his photography speaks for itself with one of the best photography portfolios on here. Not only do I recommend Mike to shoot with but I also highly recommend his workshops, he has a wealth of knowledge about lighting and is an excellent tutor.

It was great to see you again Mike and hopefully see you back here again soon.

I had my first shoot with the lovely Mike a few days ago here at the studio and he is a joy to work with; kind, polite, respectful, fun and easy-going, basically everything you could want from a photographer!

We used the various backdrops and sets and the 3 hours flew by :-)

I would welcome Mike back in a flash! Thanks Mike for a great shoot!

I attended Mike’s flash workshop yesterday my second workshop with him and the fabulous Irida.

I do most of my work using natural light and felt I needed to learn more about using flash in a studio.

Mike showed us many techniques, including feathered lighting, using strip boxes, a beauty dish and adding gels, and smoke, etc. Now I need to remember it all and practice with my own lights!

Mike is so so easy to get along with, answering any question and sorting out your camera if you run into trouble.

I throughly recommend other photographers to avail themselves of one of Mike’s workshops. You will learn a lot.

I attended a creative lighting workshop that Mike was running at Neon Dreams Studio. It was my first time in a studio and it was great because Mike showed us various lighting techniques - starting with simple set-ups and gradually getting more complicated. Mike's a very accomplished photographer so I leart a lot! He also gave us some tips on communicating with models and analysing photos on his tethered laptop. I'd definitely recommend one of Mike's workshops - particularly for beginners like me. Our model, Irida S, was also fantastic!

Mike took us through a variety of studio lighting setups and techniques. Each setup, building on what had gone before, was explained in a straightforward and logical way.

A great learning experience and highly recommended.

I attended one of Mike’s creative lighting workshops as a complete beginner with lighting. Mike explained in the pre-comms that the course wasn’t specifically aimed at beginners but that I should get a lot out of it and would have ample opportunity to ask questions. My main aim was to get a feel for shooting in a studio which I had never done before and pick up some basics of lighting in that I would feel confident enough to work solo (with a model).

We started of with a one light setup with Mike showing us the different looks we could get depending on the positioning of the light and the use of reflectors. This built through the day where we were shooting with a 4 light setup with Gels and Smoke. At each stage we would review the shot on a laptop screen and make adjustments where necessary.

It was a hugely enjoyable day and good to meet other photographers.

So a few months after the shoot, did it meet my aims. Certainly – from this workshop I was able to book my first studio slot with a model and felt confident enough to experiment with the lighting, even getting an FPI image from the shoot. Mike is a great teacher and if you are thinking about shooting with him or attending one of his workshops, do it!

What a wonderful shoot, it is always such an amazing experience working with Mike, who is such a professional and a jog to watch him work. He takes such great care with his composition, angles and directs you to find the best possible pose and shot. We hired a local lavender farm for sunset and it was lovely having the place almost to ourselves while we shot, we tried a couple of outfits but really went to town with the second one trying out lots of ideas!

He is a very insightful and skilled photographer and a pleasure to work with. The photos always blow my mind
