An Eye for Beauty

My first adventure at South House Retreat, but with two more bookings already confirmed, I am delighted with this new venue. It combines some lovely outdoor situations with a rich variety of rooms in the historic house. I realised after 4 hours yesterday with 2 different models I had only used 2 bedrooms and a bathroom - plenty more to go! Tracy and Martin were very welcoming; and a civilized lunch on the dining room table mid way through the shoot was a great bonus for models and photographers - though it was very tempting to sit much longer and chat. I look forward to the next encounter. High recommended.

My first trip to SHR as well, and I can highly recommend. Tracy gave us a warm welcome, a tour of the extensive indoor and outdoor shooting areas, and an invitation to move what we needed to set up our shots. 5 hours, 2 models and lots of great pictures later, there remain many more places unused than used. I'm already looking forward to the next visit :-)

Another fantastic shoot at this great location. Its room constantly amaze me as there is such a variety in looks you can achieve and I'm always given such a warm welcome when shooting there. Can highly recommend it for a shoot location and I've only scratched the surface so will be back many times

My first time modelling at South House Retreat and hopefully not the last. I have literally just got home after my shoot here, it's an amazing location full of natural light and tall ceilings with plenty of space to work in. We were greeted by a very warm welcome and I felt very well looked after there throughout the duration. Would definitely recommend as a great space to shoot in. :)

A fantastic venue to shoot, I have rebooked on a few occasions now and both times excelled my expectations, the venue is just superb with many rooms to shoot creative images and the grounds for natural outdoor light are superb, a beautiful location to shoot with amazing hosts to compliment the venue

For any photographers like myself that enjoy shooting natural light boudoir this place is absolutely perfect from top to bottom. Utterly gorgeous rooms decorated to the highest standards. A warm and friendly welcome, lovely mugs of tea and a brilliant variety of settings. I shot here for half a day and didn't scratch the surface of what you could achieve. I shall definitely be returning on a regular basis.

Second shoot at South House and as it's a little way away I made a weekend of it and stayed over for a couple of nights.

Absolutely fabulous from start to finish. Tracy and Martin are wonderful hosts and the house is a complete dream of a setting. I really can't praise the place enough.

The owners are extremely nice, very welcoming and really good to talk to. They showed us around and I felt at home. They was always on foot incase anything was needed.

Loads of natural lights, and space to shoot, there's so many options in this place. it still never fails to amaze me.

Can't wait to come back again.

this place is totally amazing to shoot, fabulous natural light fabulous hosts great cuppa of teas. was given the chance to shoot here by Victoria Summers and it was such a joy. you could spend a week here and not be disappointed.

Oh my goodness what a delightful place to shoot. Clean , warm, bright. It was amazing. Tracy was a wonderful hostess keeping the coffee filled and so very helpful. I shall be returning as soon as I can get my ducks in a row. So many rooms , so little time. Very highly recommended.

It was my first time shooting at South House Retreat this weekend with Simon Morton. South House has plenty of parking, clean, has tones of rooms to shoot in and the hosts are fab!

We were very well looked after and nothing was to much trouble.

Each room is different to the other and each has it's own character. A lovely fireplace in one and again it was no trouble at all to have this lit. Some rooms have beautiful natural light flooding in so we had a great time choosing which rooms to use.

I very highly recommend using this location!

I am finally managing to write this much deserved reference. All I can say is wow this is an incredible location and if South House Retreat was only a little closer, I would be booking my photo shoots predominantly with them.

An absolutely stunning location for photography!! Where to begin, Tracy & Martin are a fantastic couple. Very friendly and they make you feel very welcome in their home. You are put at ease straight away as you are shown around the house. All the rooms are decorated differently and all to a very high standard, lots of different furnishings and pictures etc, each room has its own unique feel. The living room had a real fire roaring away!!!Plenty of space for all your equipment and someone is always on hand if you need them. Also once they have introduced themselves and you've had the tour you are left alone to get on with it. It really feels like your own house!! Hot drinks & biscuits are on hand and we had lunch there. An amazing home-made soup with a hot roll which I can heartily recommend. To summarise it is a perfect location for a shoot, i highly recommend it and I will return on numerous occasions. Thank you Tracy & Martin.

Superb location, highly recommended!

I shot here just before Christmas with LaylaLee on what was a very dull day (who tries to shoot natural light on the shortest day of the year!?!?) but with a few glimmers of sunshine. There are so many options here it is fantastic. The south facing side of the house has a lounge with bay window, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on it which are perfect for natural light shoots and there are a multitude of other rooms available too.

Tracy and Martin were equally fantastic; welcoming and unobtrusive they just let us get on, but were always on hand if needed and Martin even lit the fire for us to make it even more cosy.

If you live locally you're exceptionally lucky to have such a great venue close by, if not then it's well worth a trip!!

Wavepower

I did a short 'familiarization' afternoon shoot at the South House Retreat with Miss Shell Laura yesterday on an what unfortunately turned out to be a rather dull day. We were shown round this lovely beautifully restored Georgian large house by owners Tracy and Martin. It is used an Artists Retreat and Bed and Breakfast, but ex model Tracey is very happy for to give photographers and models the run of the property by prior arrangement. The house has a lot of natural light thanks to large windows, most of them still fitted with the original shutters, and many rooms have a double aspect. Downstairs is a large beautifully appointed lounge with leather settees and a beautiful fireplace, and a second sitting rooms. Upstairs there are five nicely appointed guest bedrooms, all of which were available to use to shoot in when we visited.

Outside there is a large garden, through which runs the River Piddle (although this is not a large river at this point).

There are loads of opportunities for photography here. While not a stately home, South House is well recommended as a nicely appointed beautiful homely location shoot. I have every intention to return next year.

so .. wow um where do I start I showed up at this gorgeous house not knowing what to expect if I'm honest, and was just left absolutely speechless it was unbelievable!! breath-taking to be honest the owners were so welcoming very kind and lovely we got to tour around the house, (nearly got lost haa) but definitely worth shooting here I cant say enough about this beautiful place to be honest it has sooo much potential and every room is different it's huge, with lots of space to shoot and move around the use of natural light was so lovely it's warm and cosy and makes you feel at home. I really enjoyed working here, it took my breathe away. it was better than I expected.

I can't recommend this place enough to be honest so if you haven't yet then BOOK!!!!
