References for South House Retreat

Lovely second shoot at South House Retreat, this time one to one, while the first was a group shoot. Wonderful, quirky rooms and we was spoiled for choice as I had the run of the house. Unfortunately the light was dull on both days so I'm glad I brought my own lighting, so I am crossing my fingers for my next shoot in January. This is a stunning an unique location. Tracy, herself and ex-model, and Martin are the best possible hosts and absolutely understand what a photographer and model need in a location, which is wonderful. Tea and coffee provided and lunch can be provided if you want it. Well worth the drive up from Exeter to shoot here.

Tracy was fabulous when I had to reschedule a shoot this week and both her and Martin were very gracious hosts.

It was my first visit to The South House, and certainly not my last I hope. What an impressive location. 6 bedrooms, 2 reception rooms, great bathrooms and great common areas as well. I have probably missed a room or two off that list as well - the place is enormous :)

I shot there with Louise Love and we only had the time shoot in some of the rooms but did not want too rush too much and really appreciate what the location had to offer.

Photographers appear to regularly return to TSH and it is obvious why. There are many shot opportunities there and I've already started to think of other images that I missed and will have to remember for future visits.

Each room is decorated differently from the others and all furnished with unique items as well.

Tracy was happy for me to move furniture around during the shoot, just as long as I moved that back afterwards. This helped with the construction of our images and I was very happy with our shoot experience and thoroughly recommend The South House to any model, photographer and designer from near and far. There are not that many shoot location like this available to shoot at - and it is well worth travelling a great distance to take advantage of what the location has to offer.

Such a stunning location with so much scope, plenty of rooms to move around in. Perfect decor and furniture to create almost anything style wise really so had a fantastic time.

Martin & Tracy were the perfect host and hostess for this group day, I even took up their offer of lunch which was hot and homemade.

I look forward to attending there more often ideal for my style. I can't recommend this venue highly enough.

What an absolutely lovely studio/house thoroughly recommend superb choice of rooms,spoilt for choice, do try it.

And of course a very warm welcome from Tracy and Martin who provided coffee and a guided tour of all the rooms,nothing was too much trouble,thank you both.

I'm always shooting at all these different locations and usually completely forget to write a reference for the venue, so I'm writing this one late :) (better late than never)

I have shot at South House 3 times now with 3 different photographers and it is beautiful! When you book it for a shoot, you pretty much get a run of the whole house (except the rooms that have guests, of course). There is so many rooms to choose from, you'd need more than a day easily to shoot in every room! Every room is decorated differently and every room is equally as beautiful as the last.

Tracy and Martin are both really lovely people and make you feel really welcome and comfortable at all times. Oh - and they have a super cute dog! (I am a dog person!) lol..

I 100% recommend shooting at South House to anybody who is trying to find a venue, I love shooting here and I'm looking forward to next time!

I was lucky enough to shoot at South House yesterday and what a pleasure it was!!!

The house is abundant with shooting opportunities, posing plenty of natural light and beautiful features!!

We spent 6 hours shooting here and there are so many more photo ideas for next time!!

I'd love to come back to South House again soon!! :)

I shot at South House Retreat with a group shoot & not only is it a wonderful venue with beautifully furnished rooms & gardens but the owners do everything to make your stay enjoyable! It really could not be better so I am delighted to recommend it & I hope to shoot there again!

I attended South House Retreat for a Group Shoot Event and goodness, what a beautiful house with stunning gardens and outdoor features like a little stream and outbuildings - I didn't really want to leave!

The huge windows allow plenty of natural light and all rooms are decorated in a different theme, you will absolutely find plenty of variety.

Catering and hospitality was also second to none, and if you are lucky - you may even get to shoot with the Lady of the Manor! ;)

Absolutely stunning house to model in :)as I found out at a mature model group shoot here, over the weekend. We were blessed with lovely weather and the gorgeous grounds made for a super backdrop.

Would thoroughly recommend to any photographer or model looking for a very special location to shoot.

The Lady Of The Manor was utterly charming and provided us with all the tea/coffee and cusine we required.

I contacted south house as I’d worked there before and wanted to organise a mature models group shoot. There aren’t enough words to describe this beautiful house and gardens and everyone had a fabulous days shooting. The hosts are completely charming and accommodating in every way from the regular cups of tea to the scrumpy lunch. I certainly hope to get back there again very soon so thankyou from the bottom of my heart .

I had the pleasure to visit South House retreat for a mature model group shoot and words cannot describe this place or the warm welcome we received. This is a first class location and the hosts go above and beyond to ensure everything was right during the shoot. This combined with a first class lunch ensures this a top class location both from the photographers point of view but also the models. To top it all they offer accommodation too !

I had my first shoot at South House Retreat on Saturday, as part of a group shoot, it is the most fantastic space. A beautiful Country House, laid out over three floors, with fabulously stylish rooms and other quirky areas to shoot. The outside space is fabulous, there’s a stream, extensive grounds, out buildings and a stunning walled garden. Whatever your ideas, you will find a space to shoot here.

Tracy and Martin are excellent hosts, and very helpful when needed. I can throughly recommend the South House Retreat as a space to shoot, and I for one will be making the trip down there again.

This was (actually) my second visit to SHR and it was a pleasure to meet the owners again. This time I was actually shooting and indeed the varying rooms and wonderfully decorated hallways make for an excellent scene for a multitude of thoughts. It's quite a trek for me to visit and they do offer B&B service (something to consider), but I guarantee you the results is worth it.

Most definitely a favourite shooting location for me and it won't be long before I shoot there again. Highly recommended.

This was my second time shooting at this incredible venue. Once again we were greeted by the lovely Tracey and her husband Martin, oh and Flo the dog!

South House is such a fantastic photographic venue with a myriad of rooms and settings (indoor and out) to choose from. The décor is very beautiful and in keeping with this (nearly) 200 year old manor house.

In addition to its historic charms, there is easy parking, lovely homemade cream teas or lunch (bookable through Tracey) and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

We made use of the stunning natural light and captured some truly beautiful art nude images.

Myself and a well-known PP photographer are hoping to launch an event in partnership with South House later this year, so watch this space!

Absolutely top notch location, beautifully appointed colour themed large rooms with plenty of space to get different angles. Tracy and Martin are very friendly hosts and understand what photographers and models want from a location, they are a delight to talk to and can provide a lovely lunch. My first visit but certainly one I would like to use again and again.

Lovely house, beautifully presented, ever so comfortable, loads of scope for a variety of pics, and the owners are rather nice and welcoming as well. :)

As a brilliant bonus, one gets to play with Bentley the Springer Spaniel. It's worth going to South House just for him. :)

Shot again at South House this week my 4th visit and the welcome from Tracy & Martin was fantastic as normal. South House offers so many options to shoot and it’s difficult to get everything done that you want to. Tracy & Martin are always improving the House and grounds and when you think it can’t get any better.... well it does. South House has such a beautiful ambience and the light is stunning making the choice to return an easy one. I look forward to my next visit and I know all the models who have shot there with me are also keen to return to South House.

This was my third shoot at South House and as always the moment you drive through the gates you know you are in for a special treat. Martin and Tracy are fantastic hosts who can’t do enough for you, great hospitality from start to finish. The house and grounds are simply stunning, lovely light wherever you shoot. Time flys by and you will want to return to shoot again at South House. This is undoubtedly one of my favourite venues to shoot at and I look forward to returning again in the near future.
