References for Artemis Fauna

Only my second shoot with the legend that is Artemis Fauna - this time a duo shoot with Ayla at the excellent Hacienda.

My experience of Duo shoots is limited, but both models were, as well as working seamlessly together, brilliant at contributing creative ideas and offering suggestions based on their awesome combined professional experience.

All too brief at two hours, but I will undoubtably look repeat the absolute pleasure of working with Artemis - a model at the very peak of her profession who merits the highest recommendation.

I grabbed the opportunity to shoot with Artemis an Ayla at the fabulous Hacienda studio.Having shot with both of them before, working with these two exceptional ladies, was always going to be a special experience.

They say the cream always rises to the top, in truth this was magical.

Their contribution as to the sets and styles was invaluable, as well as their constant eye for the back of the camera, reviewing how the shots could always be perfected; true professionals.I was able to shoot areas of this most special studio, not yet experienced.

Equally, given their friendship, the constant banter added to my enormous enjoyment, as we worked our way through delivering fab images.

As always time, she flies too quickly, can't wait for the next opportunity.

I had a fantastic - but way too short - shoot with Artemis today! What a professional she is!! Turned up early, put our ideas across in no time, got some superb images! I can't recommend her highly enough, posing perfect, took directions excellently, the look - fabulous, I can't wait to do it all again!

This is the 3rd time I've been fortunate enough to shoot with Artemis and wow, she just gets better and better. As usual, I had a vague idea/concept of what I was after and we nailed it in all of about 20 minutes!

As you would expect from someone so dedicated and professional, Artemis has perfect pre-shoot comms, is welcoming and has a home pretty much designed around taking gorgeous pictures! It is an amazing space and made all the more perfect by the additional props and furniture added to accommodate every need.

Artemis doesn't just model, she gives her everything to make sure the shots are exactly as required. She does this in an effortless and casual way and is so relaxed, nothing is too much trouble.

We chatted, we took some shots, we chatted and we took more shots. As expected, I have hundreds of 'keepers' and am struggling to decide which to work with.

As you're so close I can't wait until next time!!

My local model!!!!!! Wow how lucky am I to be just 10 minutes away from Artemis. Another amazing shoot and again another great set of images from it. I shot with Artemis many years ago, when I'd only really just started model photography. I had wanted to work with her again, but like with many things I never got around to arranging it, so I was very pleased when the opportunity arose to rectify that.

It's rather difficult to know what to say about deservedly one of the most popular and talented models on here, so how about professional, creative, friendly, fun to work with, versatile and various other great words I can't quite think of at the moment.

No matter how much experience you have Artemis is a model I would highly recommend working with. I shall definitely not leave it so long again between shoots :)

Miss Fauna is nothing short of a legend.

We worked at her house over a December weekend.

She’s charismatic, beautiful and fun.

She’s so versatile, she’d even look great as a nun.

She’s a perfectionist and always gives every shot her all.

Graceful but powerful, and really good at writing a casting call.

The most talented woman I’ve ever known, she even lent me a charger for my phone.

In all seriousness, shes one of my inspirations in life, she’s a bad ass feline and a perfect model wife.

I’m a terrible poet and even worse at doing references on time.

I can’t wait to see her soon when she comes to visit at mine.

To photographers - if you were only ever going to book one model in your life. Let it be Sarah, she is the most passionate person and adores every part of her craft. She will not let you down and you’ll leave with world class images. She has an incredible eye and if you listen to what she says you will become a better photographer too.

Great shoot at Sarah's home studio

Sarah took on my brief “To capture her at one (coordinated) in her surroundings”, up until now I have been isolating the model from the surroundings. The shoot flew by and we captured many great images with many helpful inputs and set ups with effortless ease. We used natural light, fill in light and flash.

It is only now that I am processing the images that I realize how well she took the brief on, the little touches that I had missed at the time really set up the images.

I found them both to be very creative and artistic, making it easy for me to to shoot and get a lot of different styles to my pictures,

I had an insane three days shooting with Artemis from her beautiful home :D

First off it has to be said that regardless of whether you are a model or a photographer there is no one who can host better than what she can, throughout the three days Artemis made sure I was well fed (she has amazing cooking skills!), she kept her home super warm, and when I started coming down with a chest infection on day two she made sure I had everything I needed with teas.

It’s no secret she is the go to model, if not the very best! She’s got an incredible place to shoot from, the perfect wardrobe with ten versions of anything you could ask for, she looks after herself from fitness through to perfect hair, she knows how to style herself, and damn she knows how to move!

Throughout the three days I saw so many happy faces leave, and with sell out, I can honestly say it was a great success and I also had a hell of a lot of fun and can’t wait for the next time :D

Worked with Artemis for the first time on Sunday, why did I leave it so long?

Traveled down to her flat for an afternoon / evening duo shoot with Scarlett Fox. Working to a brief outline plan that took advantage of the late afternoon light and the awesome space Artemis has created. Working at a relaxed pace, a thoroughly enjoyable time was spent shooting a series of solo and duo images, interspersed with some great conversation, and a few laughs thrown in for good measure.

When in front of the camera there is simply no need for direction. Artemis and Scarlett work so well both individually and together.

You only need to scan the many, many, references below to find the many superlatives that are used to describe a shoot with Artemis - I'm just sorry that I cannot find any new ones to use!

I was keen to try a Newton theme set or two, Artemis was more than willing to share her skills in styling, set design and lighting. She wants you to get the most out of the shoot, often leading the way and offering suggestions on how to improve a crop or composition. Regular reviews allowed continual refinement - not only did I achieve a great series of images - but also learnt as well :)

I would not hesitate in working with Artemis again, whether it be solo, duo or on a larger event.

Recommended? .... errr .... ummm .... of course she is :D!

I arranged a last minute shoot with Artemis and Scarlett Fox at her place in Malmesbury. I went with a few ideas about how to use the natural light and obviously also relied on her expertise - she lives there so it would be silly not to. It was a dull day so had to use wide aperture and a high ISO which added a degree of attractive 'grain' to the shots. We finished off, since the light was really fading using one her old style lights to shoot some 'Newtonesque' images. Not my usual style but I love them - when you put Artemis and Scarlett together magic happens that is irresistible. It was a real treat to work with these two again (after Fuerteventura last year) - the only problem was that time flies when you're having fun and the two hours were soon gone.

I'm looking forward to shooting with Artemis again in Portugal later this year if I don't get a chance sooner.

I had another great shoot with Artemis at her home studio last week, just for a couple of hours, but we still reeled off several gorgeous images in next to no time without it ever feeling anything other than relaxed. There's several good reasons why this very talented young lady is the #1 model on PurplePort - yes she's very beautiful, but Artemis has an innate understanding of what looks good from both sides of the camera, is passionate about her work, professional in its execution and to top it off is just a wonderfully lovely person to work with. Top class :)

Artemis Fauna - The Boss - Here's to the next shoot!!!!!

It's a few weeks now since I returned from 7 days with Artemis on her luxury photographic trip in Portugal. I thought it would give me time to make a carefully worded objective critique of the trip. Sod all that!!! This lady is a genius!!! I've worked with Artemis so many many times now but I'm still totally amazed at the way she always manages to conjure up something new for these trips. It's hard to believe that they can get better but each one does. So many different themes and styles to suit everybody's taste. Iain T's cooking is something else, so much so that I've brought some of his recipes back home. As you would expect Carla Monaco was simply superb supporting Artemis in her modelling role. The other photographers on the trip. as always, were great company.

There were so many brilliant moments and lots of great memories to bring home, even rescuing the turtle crossing the road in front of our classic Renault 4 which had been purchased just for this trip. I don't think I'll ever get the smell of Turtle pee out of my mind.

Thanks Artemis, for all the work and effort you put into making your trips so great.

I met Sarah for the first time at her amazing studio apartment. Everyone that I had spoken to on numerous group shoots and studio days had nothing but great things to say about Sarah. When you build somebody up based on others experiences reality can be somewhat disappointing.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Sarah is the consummate professional, putting a ham-fisted novice like me, with ideas much greater than his capabilities, straight and at ease from the moment we first met. She is full of enthusiasm, ideas, encouragement and advice. She is dedicated and super-concerned that you leave with shots you are happy with. When I was ready to quit with a quick idea thrown in at the end of the shoot, Sarah would have none of it and persevered until we achieved our aims

You should have no doubts that any time spent with Sarah will result in some stunning images and a great deal of encouragement and advice, if its required.

Thank-you Sarah for 3 hours that went way too quickly. I look forward to our next shoot together and suggest that if you haven't already worked with Sarah make sure she is next on your list. You won't regret it.

Just as Artemis leaves me basking in the afterglow of such a wonderful debut shoot, she goes and does it again - and then some!

It bears repeating that she has so many endearing qualities in addition to those of being the consumnate model that she is.

I am always just as happy to sit and talk with her as I am to work with her. She is a genuinely understanding and deeply caring person who seems to possess unlimited patience. It didn't take me too long to discover that Artemis is a good listener with perfectly sensible and objective views which I can only value highly.

I took her up on her kind invitation to shoot in her new flat which I instantly fell in love with. The place is unbelievably generous with natural light. It is obvious, also, that the arrangement of the furniture and ornaments have been lovingly thought through.

In the five years since I took female portraiture seriously, I had never been so stunned as I had been today. Among her other beautiful and desirable artefacts, Artemis showed me three Phillips magnetic tape spools which were made between, I think, 1962 and 1970. I had not seen these since I was about four years old.

Once again, Artemis evoked some magic moments from my childhood. She made the shoot feel more like a day spent with a favourite aunty I never had.

Artemis and I had an incredible amount of fun shooting with the vintage outfits and making great use of the available light and surroundings.

I simply cannot express how grateful I am to her for all her help and encouragement. She kindly brought out the very best in me as a novice photographer and has, indeed, help me produce some epoch making images.

She didn't stop there either! She even took the trouble of preparing and providing an exquisite light lunch.

I sincerely hope that I get another chance to shoot with Artemis in the very near future, but in the meantime I wish to leave her with my highest recommendation.
