Note: This is a cumulative reference covering the last half dozen or so shoots I have done at the Pit. I shoot there that often all you would see would be my name in the references, 3 times in the last 3 weeks and must be getting towards 40 times in total now :-)

The team at The Pit headed by Danny as always are lovely, helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

Danny has made a lot of effort to add bits of kit for visiting photographers to use without spoiling the reason we all love shooting there. We are now getting into the spring when the natural light kicks in and really brings the studio alive for those who prefer not to work with flash.

Highly recommended for individual bookings or for use on studio days.

Second time shooting here and I'm in as much awe of the place this time as I was last. The lighting, the "feel", the look of it...just INCREDIBLE. Danny, u have an amazing place there and I really can't wait to come again!

I worked at The Pit studio for the first time the other week for a full day shoot and had an absolute blast! I am always a little apprehensive working at new studios/locations but The Pit was everything (and more) that the reviews and high recommendations say!

It is such a fantastic space- many large rooms in the building to use, with wooden floors, large windows and amazing natural light which comes streaming through the whole building. There is basic lighting available for the photographer when the light starts to fall also which we found really useful during the later part of the day. It has a great atmosphere and just oodles of space, with high ceilings and so much space to be wild and creative in! Despite the urbex feel of the large rooms, it is very pleasant and safe to work in for models, which is always my main concern with bare feet etc :) The heater was also very appreciated and I was nice and warm! :) The photographs from the day looked beautiful and you cant beat natural light! The studio is particularly great for creatives who want natural light photographs in an urbex style, but with the comfort of shelter.

The owner Danny, is also a lovely friendly, approachable person who kindly let us use the WIFI to stream music (which was a very good connection). I went away with great memories from the day and will definately be back many times, planning my next visit already! Super highly recommended in every way and see you again soon! Helen x

Wow!!!! What an amazing space!! This was my first visit to Nottingham and to The Pit. I felt very well looked after and was bowled over by the amount of shooting space available, definitely my type of location :) Although the photographers I worked with that day didn't use it, there was plenty of lighting equipment made available to use. The natural light at The Pit is beautiful and each room has a different character. Very much hoping that I can arrange more time at this studio in the future!!! :D

The Pit studio is a fantastic space which has endless possibilities, but a dumb waiter down to the bar would be a great addition ;-)

Shot there with the fantastic Natasha Kalashnikova.

Danny at the Pit was fantastically accommodating and was very helpful during the booking process as well as on the day of the shoot. I would highly recommend the Pit to anyone looking to shoot something different.

Exceptional location, many thanks Danny :-)

A large, airy, interesting space above the pub. Lots of light from the windows and a selection of interesting props - old chairs, mirror, tables.

The space is water-tight, draft free but unheated as you'd expect for this type of space. Power is available for lights too.

Nice textures,lots of posibilities.

My second visit to The Pit yesterday, and I plan to return again. And again.

Loads of space, and a quality to hte decor that you simply couldn't get any other way than by having been there for a century or more.

It won't be the place most people choose for a bridal shoot (though that would be fun), but it's a place that evey model I know wants to work, and it offers amazing natural light, from strong near the windows to very, very dim well away from them.

Thanks, Danny. It was great!

I had a fabulous time working at The Pit on Sunday.

The pre-shoot communication were excellent, the studio manager was very helpful and informative.

The studio itself is very impressive, it has the feel of being like an abandoned building and offers plenty of space with different rooms which all have interesting features. It also has furniture and plenty of other props to use. The studio offers plenty of good access points to natural light which makes the images captured here look beautiful.

I would love to work here again. I highly recommend it to all!

I shot for the first time at The Pit and loved it, very atmospheric, wasn't the brightest day but the room we used was bathed in a lovely soft natural light through the windows, as I was after atmospheric vintage feel pictures I didn't use the lights but for the most part didn't really need them, would highly recommend it has a nice Urban Explorer feel to it

Shot for the first time at the Pit recently and absolutely loved the experience! The Pit is full of character, spacious and perfect for someone like me who shoots mainly movement imagery. It also had fabulous windows and natural light beaming through. All the photographers I shot with was pleased with the surroundings and got fabulous results. I hope to be coming back soon! Thank you so much and of course, highly recommended!

I finally got to shoot at the Pit Studio in Nottingham today, and it was everything I'd expected and more!

I've heard such great things about the place, and been determined to work there, and was lucky enough to book a shoot there with Gingerbread Poison, (an amazing model, who I cannot recommend highly enough!), so had an amazing time.

The Studio is spread over several floors above the Pit and Pendulum Pub (a venue I used to visit regularly during my student days in Nottingham), most of the rooms are flooded with natural light, and have an abandoned feeling with bare boards on the floor and paint peeling on the walls, but here are a generous supply of props and furnishings spread about the place for photographer's use.

There is no lighting provided, but there is plenty of power available if you wish to bring your own, and bags of natural light streaming through the massive windows, so lighting your subjects really shouldn't be a problem.

In short it's a unique and amazing shooting space, and I'll definitely be heading back there as soon as possible, and urge you all to do the same!

I have had several shoots at The Pit with different models. All of them either suggested ( told me) that they wanted to shoot there or jumped at the chance when I suggested it.

I love the dirt and grime and messy walls and floors and the light is just sublime. I like to use high ISO settings and as little light as I can get away with, but I understand others add a bit of artificial light.

The staff at the Pit and the Pendulum are always very helpful and leave you alone when you want to be alone and are on hand when needed

I cannot recommend it enough to other photographers

Love this place! :)

Have shot at the Pit 3 times now and it is one of the most unique spaces I've had the pleasure of working in. There are 4 enormous 'derelict' rooms with stacks of natural light and a unique alternative urbex vibe and bags of character.

Totally awesome , will be back again next month

Shot at The Pit for the third time yesterday, never disappointed with this place! This really is just one of those spaces that if you do once, you know you'll be back and I've loved every shoot here aswell as the results I've gotten!

Thank you and I'm sure I'll be back soon!

Worked there several times over the last couple of months. I've been shooting both personal work and running workshops.

The space is just gorgeous, there is lovely natural light and lots of it. The rooms exude character and there is more space than you can imagine.

Danny is a great host.

I had my first shoot here on 08 October and Wow to say it is a fantastic place is an understatement. The shooting possibilities are just endless spread across five large rooms on two floors. Great natural light and this changes throughout the day giving even more possibilities to shoot I spent a great day and did not get to use it all. I will definitely be shooting here again. Finally I must mention the help I received to carry my gear upstairs at the start and back down again at the end.

I would strongly recommend anyone who has not shot here to do so, you will not be disappointed, I will definitely be using the venue again and cannot wait for the next shoot. Highly recommended by me.

My first shoot at The Pit and it won't be my last! Amazing natural light and a choice of rooms over two floors which with a half day we got nowhere near exploring fully! The shots that I got were outstanding and both my model and I loved them. The Pit is definitely somewhere that every photographer should use at least once. Recommended.
