References for Scarlet Door

I took part in my second workshop at Scarlet Door yesterday. I really like the space, which despite the freezing weather, Shawn keeps warm and toasty. There's plenty of tea and coffee on hand, even a good selection of herbal teas! Shawn was happy and quick to assist the workshop organisers any time they asked for help in changing the set up. The studio itself is well-equipped with lights, backgrounds and even random props which we were welcome to borrow for a couple of shots. It is easy to find and there is plenty of parking, so I'd recommend the studio to anyone and everyone!

I haven’t left Scarlet Door or Shawn a reference in ages, I guess because over the 4 years I’ve been going to Scarlet Door things get taken for granted.

Shawn is a smashing bloke, always on hand to help and advise but never interfere. His light setup knowledge is fantastic and his tuition days are well worth attending. There’s a number of very experienced and talented photographers attend so he can’t be that shabby.

I'd been to Scarlet Door a couple of times for workshops but this was the first time I booked it myself. Everything went smoothly, Shaun was there waiting for me when I arrived with the heaters warming the place up nicely.

All the bits I needed were there and Shaun was on hand to help when I couldn't locate a modifier or wind machine or wanted a hand changing backdrops.

Warm studio, plenty of tea and coffee plus Shaun's assistance where needed, can't ask for more really.

Everything I need in a studio and pretty local, recommended :)

Had a great workshop event at Scarlet Door a few weeks back arranged by Shawn . What a pleasure it was .Shawn works so hard and sells out his events . Shawn was kind even to come and rescue me from Reading due to problems with trains and was a great host throughout the day/evening . It was a long day 1pm-10pm but I was well looked after , made sure I was warm at all times , even if it meant using all the heat ;) and that I had enough to drink . He always puts the models comfort first . The workshop ran smoothly and I was impressed with the system . There was no stop watch, so everyone got the time that they needed to shoot . Thanks for a great day . Jess x

Lost count the number of times I've shot models or attended workshops at Scarlet. Not even local to me but can confidently say this is my favourite studio!!

This time was for a Kris Karl workshop with Arielle Fox and Amber Tutton. Both models were fantastic by the way.

Shawn is a top class host, whether teaching or helping out with setups, he knows the industry very well and always very helpful. Kris is a regular here and the teaching/insults between the two of them is worth the cost of the workshop alone!!

Will be back again early next year but until then all the very best!! Thank you again as always :)

I had my first shoot at Scarlet Door at a Kris Karl event with Amber Tutton and Arielle Fox. The studio is very well equipped and spacious. Shawn was a welcoming host and a good guy to chat with, clearly having been in the business for some time, both as a studio owner and photographer. I have a further 2 events scheduled at Scarlet Door in the next few weeks and am very much looking forward to them. Thanks again Shawn

This studio is definitely equipped for a successful shoot. You arrive to great hospitality and a space that can turn into absolutely anything. I worked with Shawn in his studio "Scarlet Door" based in Bracknell for a two day workshop and was not left disappointed!

Shawn is not only a tremendously business savvy studio owner and brilliantly magnetic photographer in his own right; he is also an extremely warm and friendly person! In fact his professionalism and expertise within the realms of business and photography are matched by his ability to project an open and welcoming persona at all times. Shawn is a true delight to be around whilst his creative talents seem to be endless! From hosting workshops to creating beautiful images to teaching complex lighting techniques; Shawn can do it all and with an envious ease! Shawn is professional, polite, talented and extremely generous; guaranteeing a wonderful and creative experience to any individual that comes to his studio!

My trip spanned over two days in which I worked with Shawn and many other photographers on a one to one basis. The workshops were brilliantly organized by Shawn ensuring that everybody was able to accomplish what they wanted to achieve in a timely fashion whilst still allowing each individual to take full advantage of what Shawn’s studio has to offer.

In truth opportunities for creating compelling images with Shawn are limitless and rightly so! His studio is well equipped; backdrops, lights, props, everything a photographer may need is readily available whilst Shawn is more than willing to share his expertise in various lighting set ups and photographic techniques. There is also a lovely well lit good sized changing room specifically for models to use, ideal for organising outfits and preparing for a shoot, allowing models to change looks easily and in privacy if warranted. It’s a great studio to work in but what’s more it’s highly professional, immaculate and well equipped!

The workshops with Shawn were great fun and highly rewarding! The workshops consisted of Shawn creating between 6-8 different lighting set ups and outfit changes, offering a multitude of different photo opportunities for the many great photographers who attended (as well as myself). The days followed a strict schedule yet flowed coherently. In fact everything ran like clockwork and the hours just flew by! But time flies when you’re having fun right?!

Shawn worked extremely efficiently and quickly, allowing every photographer to cover a wide variety of different photographic styles, looks and lighting set ups ranging from high key fashion to beautiful whimsical nudes. It was none less than impressive! Shawn never tired and his enthusiasm was infectious to all involved. Shawn was also an excellent host! Making drinks and preparing food for everybody and even allowed me to take cigarette breaks! Additionally, the photographers that I got to work with were just as warm, polite and professional as Shawn and I was really impressed with the images they all created! They were a lovely group of individuals.

Overall, working with Shawn and being a part of his workshops was simply amazing and so much fun! I got to meet and work with a great bunch of photographers who were all a pleasure to be around and come away with some great images! Shawn himself is a little sweetheart but what’s more he is a master of photography, possesses an extremely high skill set and is extremely professional! I’d highly highly recommend any photographer or model to work with Shawn! He has everything you’d hope for and more! I had a wonderful experience and would be more than happy to do it again and again! Work with Shawn, you won’t regret it!

Brilliant shoot at Scarlet door yesterday for my studio day. Shawn was lovely and helpful in organising the day from the get go. Hopefully I will be back again soon when I am next in the area. Highly recommend this studio to any creative :)

I've just got back from my first shoot at Scarlet door for a workshop with Kris Karl and have had a great day. Shawn was incredibly welcoming, fun and hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble, even helping me with my gear!

Visited Scarlet Door for the first time, shooting with Jezebelle and Ecce!

Really nice studio, good range of backdrops and styles to shoot.

Shawn was a massive help, setting up the lighting and backdrops, and on hand to give advice when needed. Which is always much appreciated!

Would love to work at the studio again in the future.

First time visiting this Studio . I was booked by another photographer and we shot here.

Small but fab use of space . Great model changing area for privacy.

Shawn really knows his stuff with lighting and was always on hand for assistance .
