P.S. it actually took a while to locate this mirror which Doug had left on the forest floor in the grounds behind his house the previous year. We had given up on finding it, but happened upon it on the trek back up from the lake, noticing a small glint. It had been almost completely covered up with wet, fallen brown leaves. I think there’s a significant metaphor there. Don’t be afraid to take the time to sift through your memories and records for sources of healing and renewal. As humans we can be shockingly forgetful and scattered, yet astonishingly powerful when it comes to learning and growing.
