I attended a portfolio builder Mick organized and must say it was a great and rewarding experience.

His home studio is lovely with plenty of space and the natural light hits the rooms really well, lunch was also provided which was appreciated and very tasty.

During studio shoot Mick set up lights and helped any togs that needed assistance to get the best shots possible, really gentleman and a nice guy all round.

I look forward to shooting here again

I’ve just had my second workshop with Mick and again I was very well looked after!

I’m lucky enough to have had the chance to work on Mick’s workshops twice now and even a few stolen shots with Mick himself. Never a bad shot!

I’ll always highly recommend Mick to any model and hold much gratitude for been given two opportunities.

I’d definitely want to come back... just you try and stop me!

I’ve been attending Mick studio for a few years now.

I return as not only is it such a friendly place to be with great company, you walk away with top shots.

With having plenty of opportunity to shoot not only in Micks unique studio, you also have the chance to shoot within his lovely home.

The garden space is fantastic too looks landscaped thanks too Sue.

The workshops work very well, giving you the chance to say what look your after. Then the lighting is done.

Also Sue’s lunch is the best in town ( I even asked if I can pop in ever morning to pick up sandwiches for work) lol.

Mick will do his upmost hardest to get you great images, but it doesn’t stop there Mick spends his own time after shoots to carry on giving advice and help. A kind of after care.

I’ve worked with Mick from my 3rd ever model shoot till now. I will definitely return to the studio.

Would I recommend Micks studio the answer is above. It’s a big yes!!

I've been going to Mick Payton for a few years now.

It's the one single studio I have ever returned to time and time again and for good reason. This is my go-to studio and I'm always happy to recommend it despite being an 80 mile round trip.

It is discretely located, with all the facilities that I need and it is priced right.

There is a long list of well-established photographers and models that have been through his doors, sometimes with guest tutors with a different style to Mick. Mick always picks excellent and experienced models for us to work with and I've had the fortune to photograph some absolutely lovely girls there.

I really like how everyone (max 6 photographers!!) gets a fair chance at getting their own images too. Everything is done fairly so you all get the same time with the models. Mick is always very well organised, professional and is very knowledgeable (I wish I knew a 100th of what Mick knows). His wife, Sue, always provides a lovely lunch too...often enough to feed 10!

I've never had a bad experience there yet.

I booked with Mick a 4 hours assisted one-to-one model shoot at/around his place, we agreed it would be using natural light without/with modifiers and for most of it to be outdoors in the rear garden and around the local neighbourhood. Scarlett Jane was the model, stunningly gorgeous and with superb modelling talents. Outdoors we shot a range of shoot sets - lifestyle, portrait/beauty and fashion, and indoors we shot very natural/elegant boudoir. My objective was to learn more about how to use natural light and modifiers for the best results and this was certainly achieved, I feel I made good strides with Mick's input and guidance and what particularly thrills me is that having looked through all the images from the shoot I consider we achieved my highest ever proportion of what I'd rate as 5 star images. How will I reduce to about 10 or so very best favourite images from the 80 or so I've presently rated 5 star! It's by far the highest 'success' results I've achieved since starting out shooting with models more than two and a half years ago. I'm sure this is due to Mick's excellent tuition input as well as Scarlett Jane's stunning looks and modelling skills. Very highly recommended photographer/tutor. Scarlett Jane is a very highly recommended model as well of course.

Another awesome workshop at Mick Paytons studio! After visiting and modelling there earlier in the year i was in no doubt that it would be fab. The group who came along were amazing and Mick educated and interacted with them perfectly! He was fantastic towards me as the model making sure i was happy at all times with banter thrown in along the way so many laughs had by all which made the day amazing with a great atmosphere.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Mick to anyone, both models and photographers if you are keen to learn more on photography. Highly recommended by me and i hope to have the pleasure of working with him again in the future! :-)

Ultimate Images

I've worked at Mick's studio a few times now as it offers a number of shooting options. Mick allows the use of many areas of his spacious home for those realistic setting shots that I currently crave (boudoir in a bedroom, girl at home actually in a home, etc); as well as having a separate dedicated studio at the bottom of his large and well established garden.

With many years of experience, Mick is always ready and willing to offer good advice on his Workshop and Portfolio Builder days.

Mick Booked me to model for one of his regular portfolio builders at his studio in Wallsal. I had visited there once in the past but this was my first time working for Mick. I arrived at his home the night before and stayed there over night. He is very good at keeping things on track at events like this and good at making everyone feel welcome. I also noticed him giving a lot of help and advice to photographers asking for it. I really enjoyed my self and love the few images mick got of me. He really is a fabulous photographer.

Mick Payton worked his magic again today on the Portfolio builder with Gabriella Elena Knight and Jodie Cleminson. Creative lighting, colourful and creative make up outdoor and indoor locations resulted in excellent images being created. The day was well supplemented by Sue's Corden Bleu lunch and the welcoming lick from Zak.

It was my first time modelling at Mick's studio and I throughly enjoyed myself.

studio/Mick's home is a perfect. well equipped with lots of different sets. You will never get bored there :)

Mick is lovely! He looked after me during workshop. He made sure I had plenty drinks and snacks.

I stayed at Mick's house night before event and him and he's wife made me feel very welcoming.

all photographers that attended event were friendly and easy to work with.

I had amazing day and I look forward to returning to Mick's studio.

I modelling in a 2 day workshop for Stefano Brunesci which was organised and hosted by Mick.

Mick was brilliant to work with and provided me and Stefano with accommodation for the weekend, as well as food and drink. He looked after us 100%.

Mick's home and studio are first class, clean tidy, spacious, great facilities for photographer's and models.

I got to shoot with Mick briefly too and he is so much fun and creative, we got some fantastic images:)

I had an amazing weekend and I thank Mick for all his hard work organising it and I look forward to a return visit.

As a fairly frequent visitor over the last year or two I should probably leave the occasional reference! Mick runs frequent portfolio days and workshops at his home studio which are always sold out for good reason. Mick brings many many years of experience to the table from his life shooting professional fashion, motorsport and nude images. It is also fair to say that all of the models that work with Mick are carefully selected for their ability and professionalism. It’s impossible to leave without getting some great images and having picked up some top tips and guidance.

I modelled for Mick's Lighting workshop on Sunday, I can't believe it's been a whole year since I was last at micks Studio. I was so happy to be back. He is a very professional host and was very attentive to the photographers needs. He and his wife provided lunch and the sandwiches were delicious! The day flew by and the group were all so kind.

Done a few workshops at micks Payton’s studio and each one had a fabulous time and some stunning images. But this time I went for the assisted one 2 one. Hands down one of the best days I have had in a long time.mick is so professional and the ideas he comes up with are just outstanding and you will have so much time to try them. Plus your own stuff with some of the best models out there.

Wow, finally i got there!!! Even if it did snow AGAIN!! After much planning and a change of date due to the snow fall a couple of weeks ago i finally got to work and model for Mick solo and for an event of his. Snowed heavily again but at least i got there this time! What an amazing experience it was. Mick's pre comms leading up to the day was second to none. He was so on the ball and great with communication i felt i already knew him when i arrived. I arrived the day before the event which gave me chance to work with Mick 1-1 so we got a feel for how each other worked and it was fab, he is super chilled, easy to model for and a whole heap of fun so i was buzzing for the event itself. Mick work is beautiful, he is very knowledgeable and been in the business a very long time and it was nice to see him pass this on to others and share his styles of work. The event was amazing with many happy customers. A lovely chilled and relaxed day with lots of laughs just as it should be. Mick and his wife are also great to be around socially, they made me feel incredibly comfortable and welcome and their hospitality was out of this world and a huge shout out to his lovely wife for all the work she does behind the scenes. Prepping for the event, buffet, drinks and even clearing the snow and gritting paths to make it safe for the attendees. Such a lovely experience all round and i'm very much looking forward to returning and doing it all again in June.....I promise not to bring the snow next time round ;-)
