I am a painter (and a photographer) who having now retired from work, is hoping to spend his "Autumn" years, just painting for fun.

I make my pictures using various media - pencil, ink, gouache paint, acrylic paint, even digital now and then, but mostly (and preferably) I like using oil paint. I have loved drawing since I was a small boy (and for a 20 year period of my working life I lived entirely off  my art - commercial illustration).

From now on I wish to paint, in my traditional way, mostly fantasy art themes, exploring fairies, myths, and legends. I have my reasons for choosing this subject, but they're not for here.

I might not always take typical model photographs because my photos form a basis from which to draw and paint from, as (like all figurative artists) if I cannot 'see it', then I cannot 'paint it'. On occasion, I may take some odd close-ups of parts, like hands, eyes, etc., to aid in the painting side of things. 

My Shoot Method.

Before a shoot, I normally scribble ideas on to paper, and then, working with a model, try to see if these imagined poses/lighting, etc., actually work in reality (e.g. see the 2nd. picture in my port below called "Believe" - a white flying fairy - it shows an idea from a doodle in my sketchpad, to the final manipulated photo, which may then go on to become the reference for a painting).

Below is some artwork of mine (old and new) plus me messing about a bit in computer art programs, but, most of it says more about 'where I have been' rather than, 'where I wish to go'.

So if you would not object to maybe getting stuck inside an oil painting (for centuries perhaps  - who knows?) then maybe we could work together.
