Beauty, Erotic, Landscape, Lingerie, Nude, Portrait, Sheer and Topless
I am a painter of pictures (and a photographer) now retired, and hoping to get a bit more serious about my own art goals now.
I make my art using various media - pencils, charcoal, inks, acrylic paint, even digital of late, but mostly (and preferably) oil paints. I have been drawing and painting since I was a boy (and commercially for a 20 year period).
My future work will focus upon fantasy art exploring fairies, mermaids, myths and legends painted in a pretty old fashioned way. I have my reasons for choosing this subject but that's not for here.
I should also like to create a few separate pieces, exploring more personal, autobiographical themes.
I tend to choose mostly slim, beautiful, "ethereal looking" models ("fairy," "elfin-like" creatures etc.) and I expect to pay them, although I have had some success with TFP shoots.
I am not a typical photographer but I use the photos I take, as a basis to draw and paint from, because (like all figurative artists) if I cannot see it, I cannot paint it, and copying other peoples' photos is, of course, not allowed.
My Method of Working.
Before a shoot, I scribble down thoughts and ideas on to paper, and then, working with a model, try to see if my imagined poses and lighting etc., might actually work in reality (e.g. see the 2nd. picture in my port below called "Believe" - a white flying fairy).
I take many photos during a session, and although some may stand as finished items in their own right, (I'm not a bad photographer; my first job on leaving art school back in 1972, was as a professional photographer on a local newspaper), a few might look a bit odd in the standard Purpleport portfolio (sometimes I may just want a close up of your hand, eyes etc. - it helps when it comes to painting an image).
Ideally I would always prefer to light my model using outdoor, natural light, rather than studio lamps, but, in England, this is not always feasible, is it?
Below is some old artwork of mine, plus me messing about in computer art programs (art is my pastime as well as my obsession) but, most of it says more about 'where I have been' rather than, 'where I want to go'.
So ... if you would not object to getting stuck inside an oil painting (for centuries perhaps ... who knows?) then perhaps we could work together.
Please do not ask me to paint anything to order as I don't do that sort of thing anymore. Henceforth, any painting shall be done for me alone, and my own, quite mad, fairy art adventure!
