Capturing movement on camera can take time to master, but it's well worth it.

Some of the techniques involved in motion photography include:

  • Freeze Action - photographing a single movement (freezing an action) with a faster shutter speed
  • Motion Blur - using a slower shutter speed to use motion blur (giving either the perception of movement or maximising the effect of a genuine movement)
  • Capturing Multiple Movements - using long exposure or multiple exposures

Below are some beautiful examples of PurplePort members who have fabulously captured movement and motion in their images. We hope their work inspires you to have a go at creating these kinds of images yourself!
