Stephen messaged me back in August to enquire about a shoot with me at Basford Hurst Cottage. And, I was so pleased when we got a date in the diary, especially as Stephen was coming all the way from South Wales!! All our pre comms were great and I absolutely knew without meeting him that we would get on like a house on fire!! (He also got bonus points for telling me he had adopted two cats in their twilight years... what a guy!!!).

On the day of the shoot Stephen turned up on time with everything he needed. We had a chat over a cuppa and a look around the location before we began shooting. Stephen had a few wonderful ideas to work with including some candid shots outside and a more Helmet Newton look inside. He was very happy for me to devise different outfits for the sets and allowed me to pose freely throughout. We reviewed images as we went and I was thrilled with how the back of the camera was looking!!

Stephen was incredibly easy to work with.... and... despite his relentless dad jokes..... We managed an amazingly productive 4 hours together producing lots of wonderful images!!

It goes without saying that I would highly reccomend a shoot with Stephen. I very much look forward to seeing the edited images and I would love to work with him again, hopefully a waterfall shoot down near his location!! Can't wait!! Thank you so much for organising this Stephen and I look forward to seeing you again soon!!!!

Basford Hurst Cottage Photography Location

Stephen came to Basford Hurst Cottage to shoot with resident model and studio owner Miss C. It was a pleasure to meet Stephen and welcome him to Basford, all his pre comms were great and he arrived on time with everything he needed.

Throughout his time here at Basford he was completely respectful of our location and the model and made sure to ask if he ever needed anything.

Lots of lovely images were created during this shoot and we can't wait to see the final edits!!! We would highly reccomend Stephen and look forward to seeing him again soon!! Thank you so much for coming to Basford Hurst Cottage!!

Finally managed to arrange a second shoot with Stephen, after about 7 years! We shot in his local area this time, and he selected a stunning location, complete with waterfalls.

As before, Stephen was absolutely lovely to work with. We had a good chat while we worked and tried out a few different concepts. He'd even brought wellies for me and of course chocolate! Really couldn't ask for more and the images he showed me looked amazing.

Another highly recommended from me. :)

I worked with Stephen for the first time the other day at one of my most favorite locations; a gorgeous abandoned chapel hidden amongst the Welsh hills in Chepstow!

It was my first time working together with Stephen; so I am always a little nervous (yes, even after all of these years modelling! :)) but communications were professional, friendly, kind and Stephens references were wonderful; so I knew it would be a wonderful shoot!

Upon arriving at our meet up point I was greet by Stephens bubbly character and a big smile. Stephen is such an endearing, kind Welsh soul (with the most marvelous Welsh accent to match!) and instantly puts you at ease.

As a photographer he is professional, kind and always making sure I was happy and comfortable. It was an especially cold day in January (OK it was FREEZING! :P ) and Stephen made sure I had plenty of warm up breaks and kept warm!

I loved Stephens method of shooting which was in a series or bursts; so I could throw a series of poses and then have a warm up! :) Even though it was freezing we were very fortunate that it was a sunny day!

We finished the half day shoot at a disused railway station and I had such a wonderful day full of great company, conversation and much laughter. I really look forward to the images!

Thankyou so much Stephen and I really hope to work together again soon (in warmer conditions! :) ) Thankyou for the chocs!

I'm so glad me and Stephen finally got to shoot and what a great one it was!

We were a bit mad and shot on the beach in December in gale force winds, but it was so much fun!

Stephen kindly let me borrow some wellies which I really needed :-)

We did some awesome shots on the sand, under the pier, some in the sea, and then we found some cool graffiti.

We chatted and had some great laughs all throughout the shoot and it was so lovely to get to know him.

What a wonderful last shoot of 2023

What a wonderful and long anticipated shoot! I thoroughly enjoyed myself on our pumpkin patch and mad hatter themed photoshoot, what an absolute joy, thank you for an amazing time! I felt comfortable, happy and excited to be doing a very creative shoot! Stephen trusted me to come up with styling and makeup and let me make suggestions which I think worked out well! It's always a pleasure working with Steve!

As always, Steve was well prepared at our agreed meeting point early, and even had a back-up location in mind just in case the weather took a turn earlier than forecast. He was very patient with me tiptoeing around barefoot at a snail's pace and even carried my stinky old boots in and out of shot to help me move a little more comfortably around the location. The whole shoot was relaxed and easy and I am so excited to see the images we have created!

So in a nutshell, Steve is polite, professional, friendly and just an all round great guy. If you get the opportunity to shoot with him, do it!!

I was so pleased with the photos I received from our last photoshoot, that I brought a friend with me this time. I trust in the photographer's skills to bring out the best in the model. He captures the surroundings so well so that it is still the model that stands out.

He's very considerate and makes sure everyone is safe.

This was the second time I had the pleasure of working with Focal Point, I attended the shoot with my partner and though we were slightly late, Focal Point was at our agreed location on time awaiting our arrival!

Just as before the pre communications were great, we settled quickly on a theme for the shoot (one neither of us had shot before), date, time and location - To which he is always very knowledgeable about great location sites along with the rich Welsh history that comes with them!

Focal Point is very professional in his work and this shows with the pictures he is able to produce, he is able to give direction to achieve the best shots in terms of settings and lighting and is always equip with two cameras for shot variations.

Focal point is very friendly and able to make you feel comfortable during shooting, conversation always flows and both chaperones that have attended with me have also enjoyed meeting and conversating with him.

I would definitely recommend working with Focal Point and I look forward to our next shoot! :)

Very pleased with our collaboration!

Prior to the photoshoot we discussed location, day and time. Communication was enthusiastic and easy.

The photographer came to pick me up at my house and even opened the car door for me! We had great conversations in the car and the walk to the location was very pleasant.

The photographer made sure I was comfortable and regularly checked in with me. He also brought a pair of wellies as we were shooting in a stream.

In between locations, I was able to see some of the photos which were incredible.

At the end of the shoot, the photographer took me to a snack bar and we had a nice lunch break. After that, I was dropped home.

I highly recommend working with FocalPoint!

I was fortunate enough to shoot with FocalPoint on Friday 27th.

With over 30 years of photography experience it definitely shows in the way he works. equipped with two cameras during the shoot for the purpose of capturing specific shots with each, giving great direction throughout to achieve some beautiful images, and showing you the images to ensure satisfaction and allow you to make any adjustments.

FocalPoint arrived on time at our agreed location to pick up myself and my sister, he was very friendly and conversation constantly flowed which ensured there was no awkwardness upon first meeting. Pre-Communication was great, we both knew what to expect from the shoot and what we were aiming to capture (which really helped when creating an outfit) along with details such as levels, rates, date, time and location - In which he has an extensive knowledge of locations to shoot around Wales.

I would highly recommend FocalPoint to any model looking to work with a friendly, professional photographer who will ensure you feel comfortable throughout shooting and will provide high quality images and a fun experience!

Hands down the most professional photographer I have ever worked with. So impressed with my experience working with Focal Point from start to finish.

Steven is punctual, aware and most of all friendly and polite. I felt incredibly comfortable and secure working with him and therefore able to perform to the best of my capabilities, so a winning combination for me .

Good communication is so important and this feels effortless with Focal Point, he makes the whole shooting experience very fun and productive. Steven knows so many locations and has so many fantastic, creative ideas.

After our original plan was postponed due to covid, it was great to get out and shoot again with Steve! There was a slight hiccup as our planned location was not accessible, however when I arrived at our agreed meeting point, Steve was already waiting for me with another fantastic location planned which wasn't too far away.

As always, Steve was friendly, professional, great company, and just an absolute pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend working with him to any model, new or experienced. Hopefully it won't be too so before our next shoot!

My 3rd shoot with Steve now, and as always a good fun day!

As always, great easy communication before the shoot. Steve is very reliable, and will turn up on time every time, whatever the weather! We went to a beach and managed to get two photo sets done in the time without rushing. He's always very friendly and easy to get on with, great company (and bad 'dad jokes' all through! lol). He is professional and hardworking, getting great angles and shots.

I cant wait for our next shoot together, I highly recommend Focalpoint to anyone!

good things come in 3's so it seems as shoot number 3 was another fantastic shoot!

We had been discussing a waterfall shoot for quite some time. I found myself with some unexpected time off which presented the perfect excuse for a trip to South Wales and thus an opportunity for our shoot.

And it was absolutely Brilliant! Steve picked out a beautiful waterfall in waterfall country and Steve's talent really shone through as he worked hard to capture some stunning images despite the harsh light. His eye for a good shot is impeccable and he gave excellent direction

Once again Steve proved himself to be an incredibly professional, respectful and, of course, great fun to work with!

the pictures on the back of the camera looked superb and i can't wait to see the final images!
