WOW! I'm not sure what I can add to my previous references from Rob. He's an incredibly creative artist. I still just say YES when he asks if I want to shoot! I'm not sure how creating such gruesome images can be so much FUN! But it really really is! It really is a privilege to work with him. I will always, ALWAYS be up for shoots with Rob.

I love that in his port notes Rob says shoots 'can be messy' - in my experience over a few shoots with Rob now, they are always creative, fun, challenging (in a good way) hilarious AND messy.

Rob is also excellent company & a good natter is always part of the shoot.

As I've said in previous references, Rob has inadvertently helped me SO much with my modelling & for that I can't thank him enough.

Here's to the next one, hopefully SOON!!!

Today I was lucky enough to shoot with Rob - who's work I've loved since finding it. He was on time, well prepared and very accommodating throughout - it was fantastic to work with somebody so creative in such a different way to most and to feel comfortable enough around them to work covered entirely in clay and nothing else.

Throughout the shoot Rob was enthusiastic and had so many ideas to try out, his communication before during and after the shoot have all been fantastic and I cannot wait to see the images.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I left the house this morning - but I'm very pleased to have found such an easygoing photographer that can collaborate darker ideas so fluidly.

Absolutely fantastic shoot, my first full nude shoot and I honestly can't have asked for it to have gone any better - can't praise him enough,

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

Hurrah! Another shoot with Rob! I'm always delighted when Rob asks if I want to shoot & I always say YES (in capitals!) before I even know what I'm letting myself in for, so that in itself is a high recommendation.

Rob is an artist, in the true sense of the word. I am always amazed by his creative mind & I have no idea where these wacky thoughts come from but I hope they continue.

Our shoot was messy, hilarious, challenging (in a good way) & I think hugely productive.

If you want to look pretty & not get messy, then forget it, Rob isn't the photographer for you, but if you want to be creatively stretched & step out of your comfort zone & help create memorable & twisted art then grab any opportunity to work with him.

I genuinely hope we get to work together many more times. Thank you so much Rob, you rock! :-)

Rob is a lovely man and one of the great talents on PP, a photographer who is also an artist. I feel privileged to have worked with him (3 times now) and hope very much to do so again before too long. Models who have imagination, enjoy a collaborative style of working, and who don't mind "mucking in" with sometimes whacky ideas will participate in the creation of stunningly original imagery. One of the best gigs on PP - heartily recommended.

Possibly our sixth shoot together & that really does say all that needs to be said! This time again with LifeModel.

So how much fun can three people have in a shed? Quite a lot as it turns out!

Working with Rob challenges me, hugely, in an entirely good way. I am often tiptoeing, or sometimes staggering, out of my comfort zone, but in what feels a very safe & supported way. With each shoot I feel I am able to reveal a little more of myself & my confidence grows each time. I can't thank Rob enough for the experience.

As I've said before Rob is some kind of dark creative genius wizard & what he does with images is so inspiring. He is adept at capturing moments & enhancing them. So, shoots are messy, hilarious, weird, full of chat, tea & fun.

Plus Rob is a genuinely lovely, lovely human.

Put simply - I absolutely adore working with him, so if you get the opportunity grab it!

Shoot number... I don’t know but what a brilliant impromptu shoot with the master of darkness himself!

I always love working with Rob as he is effortlessly creative and this shoot was no exception. Fake blood, clay and bones.. Because why would you have any other props with you?

So many laughs had, amazingly creative dark images created not much else to say. Let’s not leave it 4 years until the next one please?!

You’d be a fool not to want to shoot with this absolute genius. Highly recommended by me to any model that is willing to explore her darker side x

Roberto is an absolute creative genius. inside and out. he see's the world in a unique way, noticing both it's beauty and chaos and using it as inspiration in his art.

His work has many levels and depth to it, it's a story, a masterpiece. he shoots both still images and video, capturing a performance. Just being in Roberto's presence and getting to know him is inspiring in itself.

I had my first horror shoot with Roberto focusing on his project 'haunted humans'. This was open to interpretation, we worked together on it. Roberto let me perform in my own way of reacting to what I see as 'haunted humans' which turned out to be personal, making the perfomance that more powerful.

His communication before, during and after the shoot was on point, never had to question anything. It all went smoothly.

Before the shoot we had a sit down with a cuppa, built rapport, laughed and made a plan for the shoot.

Roberto is very easy going, he makes it clear what he wants and is open to hearing your idea's and trying something new. It was all so easy and naturally flowed, what a beautiful horrific, messy day it was!

I recommend him 1000%

Buckle up kids because this is a long glowing reference! You're in for the shoot of your life with Roberto.

When he reached out to me after seeing my horror work, I squealed with excitement in my living room. I was so damn excited to let my weird out and get creepy. The pre-shoot comms were full of detail, timely and absolutely effortless - it was so easy to chat away about ideas and it really got me excited. After a long drive, Roberto welcomed me and my chaperone with a cup of coffee (with vegan options!!) and a good chat before we got to shooting.

Roberto was WELL prepared with a list, which definitely helped give the shoot some structure to get everything done. He was open to my ideas on the fly too and it really was a true collaboatory effort! Its definitely gone down as one of the best shoots I've ever had the chance to do 🤩 I had such fun and it was so damn refreshing to be free and completely relaxed - no pressure to be perfect or pretty. Roberto was also incredibly patient with me when my body started seizing up (chronic pain is something new I'm having to deal with) and he offered lots of comfort breaks, which was very lovely of him.

We definitely got creative with unconventional materials, ie, clingfilm, yards of lace and rope. The final portion of the shoot was for Robertos latest book Haunted Humans where I was covered in clay, bandages and other natural materials. It was definitely a sensory deprivation experience, being completely blind, deaf and unable to speak. But that added to creating that deprived, scared state - I definitely had a lot of fun bringing that character to life! Roberto has a shower room to clean up after a messy shoot, which was a life saver too.

Working up to nude level I always bring a chaperone, and Roberto was incredibly happy to have him at the shoot too. We all got on like a house on fire and he enlisted his help with lighting, the clay and even his hands in some shots.

Thank you Rob for making us both feel comfortable and we couldn't stop nattering away about how great it was on the drive home. Can't wait to shoot again!

Well what a day. Months of planning and we finally got our shoot. Pre communication was always on point so we knew what we wanted to shoot when we got there but was always doing something different

He came up with loads of ideas and was always adapting to me and my shape. He worked at my pace and was extreamly understanding whem one thing went wrong and we cut it short.

Im so happy we got to shoot today and hopefully shoot soon! Cannot wait to come to the studio again

Second shoot with rob was even better than our first! He is such a lovely human being and an utter joy to be around, he's extremely considerate, (i added a new tattoo to my collection the day before and he was extremely careful with leaving it untouched and making sure it was well covered) checking to make sure i was warm enough and comfortable throughout.

He's passionate and talented, seeing how his brain works while shooting is absolutely facisnating and i don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing it or working with him.

If you're on the fence about shooting with rob and getting covered in clay I promise you it'll be one of the best things you ever do! Not only is it tons of fun, it's a as rob calls it "spa day" just a little more on the insane side ;D i would 1000% recommend working with him if you have the chance he's outstanding.

Thank you for always being super understanding, making me laugh and all in all being an absolute gem. I cannot wait to see what we've created and work with you again v soon!!!!💖💖💖

vulgar superstitions

This man lured me to his home with the promise of potato salad, took me to his shed, handed me clay and invited me to roll around on the floor whilst he took grotesque photos. And I loved every minute of it!

There are some deep, meaningful conversations I think you can only really have with a stranger whilst crouched naked under strip lighting attempting to assemble a mass of bones and string into a wearable garment - but those were certainly had.

I am grateful to have had the chance to meet and spend time with him and even more so to have created something so cathartically twisted together. A true meeting of minds and well worth the long journey. Thanks Rob

This was my 5th time working with the incredible Roberto setgate.

This time we were following an emotive theme inspired by classical art that represented nurturing and desperation between a father and daughter.

For this idea i suggested a model and friend of mine Anthony (Johnnyskyboss) who embodied the character needed for the shoot perfectly.

Roberto is so easy to work with. His mind is a truly deep and inspiring one full of creativity for darkess.

I can just visualise how he sees the images in his minds eye.

Working with rob is one of the best shoot experiences you will have. You will receive some seriously emotive unique dark imagery that will just take you to another world and blow your mind.

I will forever recommend working with Robert.

He is passionate and professional and makes you feel at ease.

Pre comms were spot on as usual.

He also makes a lovely cup of tea (thank you)

If you ever get the opportunity to work with roberto do it!!!

What a wonderful day in the company of Rob! A very patient, understanding man who knows how to get the most out of a person. I can honestly say that I am still buzzing (and aching!) the day after.

We shot a take on a classic scenario and throughout Rob was instructive, innovative, professional and entirely approachable. His shooting technique was perfect and fitted well with my 'modelling' abilities and disabilities.

Part two involved clay, clay and more clay :-) I've gotten messy before but this was extreme to say the least. What an experience! A lovely hot shower and relaxing cuppa in the garden afterwards rounded off a most enjoyable day :-)

I can't wait to see the end results, I know they will be spectacular.

I highly recommend Rob and would urge you to work with this very talented photographer and artist, you'll not be disappointed!

Well what can I say?? So pleased when Rob suggested another shoot following a similar theme to our last one.

I just can't recommend this delightful human enough! More silliness, more clay, more giggles, more chats over tea, & the images I've seen on the back of the camera are so exciting & that's before Rob has worked his magic.

I feel like each shoot with Rob is such fun in itself, even without the images it's worth a day out! The images feel like the icing on the cake.

One of the many things I love about working with Rob (apart from the fact that this level of creative weirdness is so rarely seen) is that he gently & playfully stretches my comfort zone with each shoot & for that I will always be grateful. I'm learning so much working with Rob & I think the images we're creating together are genuinely some of the ones I am most proud of.

If you get an opportunity to work with Rob grab it with both hands, truly, you won't regret it.

I genuinely cannot wait until the next one (yeah I know, you keep getting us to cover ourselves with clay & we keep coming back!!)

So I thought obscure? Radical? Bold? Brave? Daring?

That sums up Roberto to the t. His work is an art form it’s in own right. Beauty in macabre. Beauty in horror. Beauty, in the scene of the abnormal.

I loved working with this fantastic human being, delving in and out of theoretical discussions about the complexity of horror, psychology of his work. We started straight away with some portraiture then moved in to working with clay. Roberto was very patient and gave very clear instruction when he wanted a specific pose throwing in the occasional ‘beautiful’ and ‘well done’ sought a shoot which accumulated in smiles and laughter.

If you want work to really push the boundaries and strike a match in the name of art, Roberto is the man for you.

I would highly recommend this man for anyone who wants to go shoot art house horror. He’s not only a very understandable and genuine human being, he’s a creative visionary, something this site benefits from having.

A breath of fresh air and I will definitely be working with him again.

Hehe, Again we go!

I'm thankful to Robert for today, I had a worrying morning and he was very understanding.

I had a look at things that would be great to work with and I FINALLY got to shoot with my demin outfit that I made (I have been waiting for this day)

Some creep factor today! OHHH I am sooo excited to see a more sinister side to me!

Who would had thought, I'm very known for Fantasy style and these fashion shoots. But with the help of the delightful 'Mog'. Me and Robert got into communications, talking about our mutual love for animation.

I have seen his work with many amazingly talented models, I'm always in awe (my definition is like painting with photos)

Even us more 'cutesy' types like a bit of grunge haha.

I can't wait to see artsy extravaganza.

(If your looking for something different) out of the normal, work with Robert, he's kind and lovely (I recommend)

WOW! Again! I know it's an overused word but WOW does partly convey what the experience of shooting with this dark artist is like. This was our fourth shoot & that in itself is enough of a recommendation. I just ADORE (it has to have capital letters) shooting with this lovely human. Whenever he asks if I want to shoot it's a resounding YES from me without even knowing what we're going to be doing - but I know it's going to be a hell of a day (in a good way of course).

I so appreciate the time & effort that Rob puts into his shoots. The props, materials etc, the shoot plan carefully described in a list (or two), plus he always has the model's comfort in mind - keeping the space warm, providing a hot shower afterwards & cups of tea.

I think Rob is honestly one of the most genuinely lovely people I've met in my time modelling & I value his friendship highly. Our shoots have been fun, full of silliness & giggles whilst we busily create weird wonderfulness, sometimes freaking ourselves out a little bit in the process. He is absolutely one of my favourite (if not the favourite) photographers to work with.

So yes, of course I very highly recommend Rob to work with, with this caveat - don't work with him if you want to look pretty in the images, if you don't like getting dirty or if you don't have a sense of humour! But if you're looking to be treated with the utmost professionalism & respect & get some freaking awesome & totally unique images whilst having a ball then do!

I will keep working with Rob until he gets bored of me, which I hope isn't for some time to come.

Rob, thank you so so much, our shoot was exactly what I needed, you're an absolute joy & delight to spend time with. Until next time!
