I got the chance to work with Phil at his beautiful Boardroom Studio in Derby a couple of weeks ago and I can honestly look back at it as one of my favourite shoots.

Phil was beyond lovely and professional, providing great pre-shoot communications, offering me tea, coffee, etc throughout, and just generally creating a really chilled, creative shoot environment which just made things flow.

The studio is stunning and wonderfully versatile meaning we could capture a wide range of looks, outfits and styles.

I would 100% recommend Phil as both a photographer and studio owner, a genuinely lovely guy and seriously talented photographer/retoucher!

Meeting Phil today, and working at his fabulous studio, The Boardroom, was an unexpected joy.

The friendliest chap with skills and the generosity to help a newbie out and make me feel so welcome.

I'm already plotting a return. Thank goodness he's not that far away from me because otherwise my petrol bill will be going through the roof!

Can't wait to go back again.

Finally got to shoot at Boardroom and wow it's wonderful, the lighting to truly beautiful.

Phil and Rebecca welcomed me in and made sure I was comfortable and knew where everything was.

They even bought coffee in for me and biscuits! What a delight.

I will certainly be using The Boardroom again for shoots.

I worked with Phil at his stunning studio for the first time last week. He was a joy to work with, a total gentleman. He even kept me topped up in coffee all morning (proper coffee too)

The space its self is absolutely stunning, clean, warm and just stunning.

I highly recommend and cant wait until my next shoot here.

Had my first shoot here yesterday and soon as I walked in I fell in love. this place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL omg!!! It's full of gorgeous light props and plenty of warmth. Phil and his wife were so welcoming and very kind throughout constantly offering me drinks and warmth.

I have wanted to work here for ages now and so glad I did it was a very successful studio day and you can see Phil puts a lot of effort into his studio and the models.

I can't fault this studio in anyway at all even pre comms were superb!! fantastic

Highly recommended by me!! can't wait to come back!!!!

Had a great 4hr shoot with Tann-Maria on her studio day at this amazing studio (which I been to many times). Phil (the owner) and his wife as always are great hosts. The studio is amazing with its white walls, white wood floorboards and 3 beautiful Georgian windows that let in an amazing amount of natural light. A window seat is under each window. They have various lighting etc. but you probably won’t need it unless you’re after a particular effect.

I’m sure I’ll be shooting there again in the future.

My first time working at PHLY Studio and I couldn't be happier.

The studio is a great space and extremely versatile. It has both natural and studio lights and has plenty of character which makes a huge difference. On top of that, Phil is an excellent host. He took care of me and the model on the day and his help was greatly appreciated.

I certainly hope to shoot there again soon.

This is the second time I've used this studio and can highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of shooting there. Phil and Rebecca are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble ( we were made a cup of hot chocolate and that was most kind ) in helping set up the lighting, helping move things about and giving advice on all manner of things. I shot with Phil a couple of weeks back and we had an awesome shoot! I felt very welcomed and comfortable with Phil and we worked together really well so the shoot flowed beautifully. Phil is very creative and knows how to capture the perfect shot. He let me try on some beautiful dresses which were to die for and it was a pleasure to work with him! I would definitely recommend :)

Wow.

The Boardroom is absolutely stunning and so versatile. I shot all day here with A Shot in the Dark and Penny Lick, we shot for 8 hours straight and could of done another 8 hours easily. The lighting is gorgeous and the whole setting is beautiful.

Not only does the room have great paneling but the windows and fireplace also make great sets.

Phil was so welcoming and great to work with. Always on hand to help and makes a mean coffee! The studio is easy to get to and has parking on site which is super helpful!

I can't wait to come back!

A Shot in the Dark

Well what can I say about this incredible studio?

I had high hopes from the pictures and it exceeded even those expectations!

The studio is stunning and really well kept, it's absolutely beautiful to just stand in and look around.

We booked a day here and could have easily spent another day making use of it.

The studio was kept warm which was really appreciated in this winter weather!

Lighting equipment is perfect for the space for when it gets darker.

It's biggest asset might be Phil, what a fantastic studio owner!

He's the perfect blend of helpful when you need it and leaving you to it when you're shooting, and he makes a really great coffee (WITH JAFFA CAKES). I'm not used to working in big spaces and Phil was so generous without being overbearing in his assistance when I struggled and it helped me really get the most out of my day.

Thank you so much Phil!

Incredible place, absolutely will be coming back!

The White Room.

Including the floor - an intriguing start, and it allows soem lovely effects.

Phil is knowledgeable and hospitable, and has equipped the studio well. There are great possibilities - and models will LOVE the fact that the Boardroom is well heated. That's so unusual.

I've not been before - but I'll be back!

Aside from having a beautiful studio and I mean beautiful, the service is exemplary. After discovering on my travels there to my horror that the humidity levels were through the roof and my hair getting crazier by the second I gave PHLY a quick ring... signal was virtually non existent but a text pinged through saying 'you tried to ring how may we help'. A quick explanation by me and I was informed Rebecca had gone home to try and find me straighteners and a hairdryer. I have to add this was literally minutes before my arrival. Talk about going above and beyond!!

From start to finish the level of service was outstanding, the studio is immaculate and has so much potential. What more can I say?? If you havent been yet you totally should!!!

I had another shoot at the very good PHLY Studio in Derby yesterday. Phil and Rebecca are full time commercial photoshop editors and Phil a commercial Photographer as well so renting out the studio is a side activity, but when you need help with something, they are instantly available and do what they can. Rebecca excelled herself when my model's hair got damp in the rain and when it does that, it goes off on a wobbly - a quick phone call to the studio before we got there and Rebecca immediately went home and came back with her own hair drier and straighteners. That's an indication of the level of care they apply to their bookings. Thanks PHLY. :-)

I adore working at this beautiful studio! So much natural light, Phil and Rebecca are a fantastic team that look after you while you are there. Plenty of assistance when needed and always happy to help. I shot there yesterday with them both yesterday and they are just great. A really creative team and a joy to work with. Just had a 1-2-1 shoot which I booked at The Boardroom with the beautiful Arabella. The studio is a lovely white area with beautiful Georgian windows and window seats. The natural light that you get is amazing (even on these dull autumn days). The communication with Phil (the owner) was excellent with prompt timely replies. Phil was happy for me to also tryout a new ring light I’d bought (with some great results). Phil’s wife, Gill, did an excellent job looking after both myself and Arabella keeping us supplied with lovely cups of tea. 👍

I can highly recommend this studio whether it’s your own booking or any of the events that they organise.

Looking forward to my next visit.
