Spent the morning in a tuition group run by Nic on lighting motorcycles, based on his professional experience lighting cars - very useful and informative. Then spent the afternoon with model and motorbike putting the tuition into practice. Nic was helpful and hospitable throughout, and his experience shows. The studio has lots of potential with props galore - certainly worth future trips out of London. Definitely recommended.

I have loved working at Nics while ive been on my tour. I was there 4 days of my tour and everyday was awesome! Nic is such a nice guy, more than happy to help with anything and seriously knows his stuff when it comes to lighting!

The first day I was there we put on a lighting workshop together. It was so much fun and even I learnt loads!!

The others were booked 1-1 with other photographers, he was nearby at all times to be on hand for anything we needed and was such a nice person, so easy to approach and happy to help at all times.

I even managed to get to work with him 1-1 on a set at the end, he came up with a great idea which I couldn't wait to do!! I think we smashed it! I cant wait to see the images!

I had a wonderful shoot at Nic's today we put on a lighting workshop together and I loved it!

Everyone turned up ready to shoot and Nic had some awesome ideas and was really good at explaining everything to them. It was a lot of fun, we all chatted, did some group stuff and 1-1 too.

It couldn't have gone better!

Nic is a lovely guy, really easy to approach and talk to. Happy to help with everything and anything.

Nic contacted me for a casting and I felt very lucky and humble to shoot with such a top photographer. He's been a professional photographer all his life and it shows on the super high quality of his work. We had a 3-hour intense outdoors shoot were I (lucky girl) got more than plenty of amazing images. He’s uber talented, super easy going, fun to be around and very professional at all times. His studio is the best one I’ve seen in a very long time. Like someone said here:"It's like Harry Potter's house.

Today I got to shoot with Nic and had the BEST time! Thank you so much again for today Nic :)

Would definitely recommend Nic to anyone - he is a lovely guy, great to talk to and lots of fun. I felt so comfortable with Nic and he gave me great directions and had brilliant ideas. I loved the images just from the back of the camera so cannot wait to see them again!

This must be either my third or fourth or maybe even my fifth time shooting with Nic but the result is always the same, its fun and he give fantastic direction (as long as you can hear him over the massive fan!) makes sure you are well watered and communications are great.

as always a lovely photographer and i'll be definitely coming back soon

So I got the chance to shoot at Nic's studio today and oh my! I adored it! All being based around theatricals (and looking like the tent from Harry Potter :D) I was lucky to shoot there for the day and can honestly say it was amazing. I had so much fun and great conversations about the fandoms! highly recommended!!!

I have now completely lost count at the amount of times I have shot at Nic's and that say's it all.

Nic's studio is brilliant for shooting anything that involves movement as it has a copious amount of space and also has a variety of props to use.

Whilst shooting Nic is always on hand if any help is needed and is also easy to get along with.

Overall my experience each time has been wonderful and I am looking forward to returning again in the future.

Why book Blackbarn studio?

1: Nic does not only have the technical know how in terms of lighting, he is the ideal assistant to have around and will help wherever he can. This for photographers booking the studio as in making sure the model has everything she needs

2: amazing decors and props from actual film noir sets to clothing. If you want to recreate your own film, this is the place to be.

I have done a few studio days with Nic at his studio and the reason I keep on coming back is quite simple: fun days that fly by.

No bigger reason for a recommendation than professional fun times.

I managed to squeeze a shoot with Ni k in between shoots on my recent Lobson tour, and pleased I did.

Nick is very precise with his work, he's very good and getting those details which make the difference between a good shot and a great one. He is rather quick when shooting and I found that I didn't quite have time sometimes to change positions, but perhaps that's because I often make big changes to a pose rather than slight movements. He's very quick when setting up lights/sets etc which is great.

We managed to fit a lot in a short space of time and I'm confident we got some great results!

His studio is fabulous! So much space! Amazingly warm. A huge range of great props great changing area. All you could want and more really.

I was bondage rigger for a studio day that @Freya had organised at Blackbarn, involving individual sessions with half a dozen photographers in the course of a long day. The studio itself is great, and Nic was more than helpful to the photographers, for some of whom studio work was unfamiliar territory. His deep technical and creative knowledge, along with his patience and humour, ensured that every photographer achieved what they'd hoped for, and, I'd say, went away having improved their knowledge of photography as well.

I worked at Nics fantastic studio again on a recent tour and wondered why I had left it so long! I love shooting at the studio, Nic is always on hand to help when needed and is a super lovely person to be around. The sets are fantastic with high ceilings and plenty of space. Me and Sophia West had a shoot in a lovely, fully equipped Blackbarn Studio with Nic. He was very professional and friendly! He have got a stage with back drops set up in his studio which is absolutely stunning!

I would highly recommend Nic to anyone because he is pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend Nic`s studio too!:)

What an amazing studio!!!

I shot today at Blackbarn Studio for the first time and was completely blown away. Great space, with a separate changing area and kitchen, all fully kitted out, a stage area, tons of props and backdrops.

I shot a duo set with Nelly and Nic. The shoot went smoothly. Nic is a true professional, knows what he wants and doesn't stop until he gets the image he envisions.

I enjoyed the shoot and I can't wait to get back to Blackbarn!

Spent a few hours at Blackbarn studios today, and what a fabulous space this is, kitted out from top to bottom with everything you could ever need.

Superb facilities, great host and an all round a thoroughly recommended place to work.

I shall look forward to working here again in the future without doubt.

What an excellent facility this is. Don't know why I hadn't been here before but will certainly return. Great help if needed and a nice tip came my way for free. Nice stressless run up so shoot went really well. Highly recommended. :)

Finally got to work at Nic's yesterday with Richard Maxim and Anna Rose.

Great studio with so much space! Heaters worked well, plenty of space to change and good light to do make-up.

Many props to play with including a pole which Nic set up for us.

Looking forward to returning to the studio soon! :)
