References for Basford Hurst Cottage Photography Location

My second visit to Basford, and certainly not the last, this time with the delightful Ellie Mae.

Basford is a really complete shoot location, comprising elegant room settings, huge windows, and quirky corners and corridors. Outside, you have a choice of locations on the terraces around the property itself, in the woods, on the lawns, by the pond or round the urbexy outhouse. The choices are endless, and that's before you go upstairs...

Leanne is one of the most hospitable venue owners I know and was on hand to provide refreshments and chat, and advice on which nooks and crannies to shoot in.

An excellent venue that I can't recommend highly enough.

Had my first shoot at Basford, but not my last.

Leanne was very welcoming, and the House is beautiful. I've been want to shoot at Basford for a while now, but plans fell through. However after the long wait, i wasn't disappointed. The Cottage is beautiful, i haven't explore the ground, but from what i saw, they look fantastic. Lovely living room, Piano and Bathtub, Me and Beth love every room we shoot in.

All in all, highly recommend. And happy to shoot there again. Soon

I had a very enjoyable few hours photographing the lovely Leanne, owner/manager AND resident model at Basford Hurst Cottage. I was very interested in shooting at BHC because of the huge variety of possible locations available. Leanne is very well organised and takes great pride in running her business well. All organisational issues were dealt with faultlessly so all I had to worry about was my photography which for me was plenty. In six hours I barely scratched the surface of the various options available so really, I’m going to have to go back to sample the other settings. Coffee and biscuits always on tap and great conversation are extras that are the icing on top. All in all a fabulous studio masquerading as a home or is it vice versa. I hope I will be able to return soon.

Leanne and Simon were extremely welcoming into their home and beautiful cottage for me to work with Beth Kate on her studio days, I was warmly greeted and shown in from the wet and cold outdoors.

Leanne gave me the tour whilst Beth was getting ready and chatted until it was time to shoot.

The cottage boasts some beautiful rooms to shoot in where you can get so much from a single area that it becomes difficult to know which room to move to next.

Leanne and Simon were happy to supply me with drinks throughout and were on hand should I need any help with moving things around.

Basford Hurst Cottage is close to me and will definitely be another place to shoot again with the possibility of Leanne (Miss_C)being my next person to work with!!

I can't thank them both enough for hosting me during my visit, you were both great people to meet and speak to.

I had a shoot organised in this gorgeous location with their resident model Miss_C. We used mainly the outbuilding available, as it created an absolutely gorgeous lighting thanks to being positioned to allow the evening sun through the windows. There are plenty of great opportunities and that's even before you enter the Cottage itself.

Once in the main building, we used several areas including large dining room/table, music room and others.

Large windows allow for plenty of natural light, even when the sun is almost setting.

Also, ample of parking available, so you won't struggle with that.

All in all, I will be back and recommend this place to anyone

An Eye for Beauty

I shot with Miss_C over 5 years ago and when I discovered she was now the resident model at Basford Hurst Cottage, I had a real desire to have some shoots there. Leanne was very helpful in encouraging me to make the journey, helping me fix the days, coordinate dates with two other models, and finally giving enough time to book an advance railway ticket – the least expensive part of the process. The journey was about 5 hours but buses and trains were on time.

It was good to catch up with Leanne again while staying for 2 nights in a very splendid ensuite bedroom, one of two, also used for shoots. I was able to use the kitchen to prepare and eat food, but Leanne kindly gave me a lift to the Black Lion one evening. As the walk back was nearly half-an-hour, that was very encouraging.

Basford Hurst Cottage is a late Victorian dwelling with at least 3 staircases, and, for someone like me, a chance to get lost; but it is beautifully fitted out, both as somewhere to stay and to shoot - very different and a welcome change from so many ‘studios’. Pre-Covid I generally shot in such places but after all these years I was a bit rusty on natural light photography, especially as weather and light conditions were challenging.

However, I have come away with nearly 1,000 images from the three models combined and now comes the delightful and exciting process of selection and editing.

It maybe that I don’t return but that will be no reflection on the venue and its lovely owner – simply miles and overall economics. But it was a good centre for the other models, Mistyy from Liverpool and Meg Modelling from Birmingham whose journeys were much more reasonable than mine. I do wholeheartedly recommend the place, and commend Leanne on the work she has put in over the last 18 months to make it such a success.

Basford Hurst Cottage is my go to Studio for a full range of style and backgrounds. Being able to roam around such a beautiful house at will, with Leanne attentive and available whenever you need help. I have had 5 shoots there now. And each time I discover a few more ideas and opportunities.

My latest trip on 8th September was no exception, and possibly my best to date. In fact I had planned a whole range of areas to shoot with story board idea for poses. That even in 4 hours we were unable to utilize every one. I was conscious of not taking respective shots and keeping to my schedule but even so two rooms had to wait until my next visit.

It's always a pleasure to shoot at Basford. The location is exceptional with so many possibilities and Leanne is such a lovely person. She stays near by and available whenever we need her during the shoot for anything.

I always feel so welcome when I come to Basford for a shoot or for my previous studio days. Leanne has the ability to make us feel like home. Highly recommend it!

I had another great shoot today at Basford with SimoneH the weather was good so we were able to shoot both inside and outside.As I have said in previous references Basford is a fantastic place to shoot with endless possibilities to get some perfect images.Leanne and Simon were the perfect hosts as usual.

I would definitely recommend Basford Hurst Cottage.

This is up there as one of my favourite places to shoot, full of elegance and class, would be very hard to get a bad photo here.

I absolutely love working at Basford (if you can even call it working)! Leanne's pre-comms are exemplary and make my life so easy, and she cultivates an atmosphere of relaxed creativity that makes spending time there a pleasure. I sold two full days and they absolutely flew by, thanks to the huge variety of options both indoors and out, and as always I was sad when it was all over. I really can't recommend this stunning venue or Leanne enough, and I look forward to coming back in the new year.

Yesterday was my second visit to Basford Hurst and it won't be the last! I'm an hobbyist photographer who prefers working with natural light and Leanne's venue has SO many options available!! from the direct sunlight in a model's hair outside to catching window framing shadows inside! I also discovered her small pond and managed to get some good reflections shots of Sinopa Rin in it. If you get the chance to shoot here TAKE IT! you won't be disappointed, Thanks again Leanne,see you soon I hope.

What a remarkable treasure trove this place is :-). It has an amazing number of potential places to shoot - absolutely gorgeous. I was welcomed in and given a tour by Leanne - who is professional and comes across as a lovely person too. I'd love to shoot here again - a place of endless possibilities :-).

I did a shoot with Sinopa Rin at Basford Hurst Cottage recently and I just loved working at Basford. It was my first time shooting there and I found it to be a delightful venue for a shoot.

I was greeted by Leanne the host on my arrival, and she gave me a guided tour of the cottage, and offered me a hot drink too.

There is plenty of natural light entering the property, and studio lighting available when needed. Every room in the cottage was clean and tidy, and the property has extensive grounds and woodlands too, and so I only just touched the touched the surface with a 2 hour shoot and I really must go back for another shoot in the not too distant future.

Just love shooting at Basford Hurst Cottage, with the flexibility it offers in gorgeous surroundings and of course, managed an run by the wonderful Miss C who is the perfect host.

If you have never shot at Basford Hurst Cottage, you really should; I can't recommend highly enough!

I had my first shoot. at Basford Hurst today with two absolutely amazing artists Cariad & Irida.

From first point of contact an over several months before the shoot communications with Leanne were second to none. even on the shoot its Leanna Made to cups of coffee TDF :-) As for the location itself, Well' what can I say that hasn't already been said? The place is just amazing a there are very few places like it for natural light, even on a soggy overcast morning the light was stunning coming through the windows. I'm not really a natural light shooter but was to good to miss the chance not to.

I shall definitely be back in the near future as I highly recommend the studio to any photographer or models you wont be disappointed

Basford Hurst unfortunately is some distance from me, so my visits are limited and this is only my second time at this amazing venue.

On several levels this location is an exceptional place to shoot. A truly historic building with many rooms and large wooded grounds the theme options are almost without limit.

The studio is run by owner and model Leanne (Miss_C) impeccably! Her pre-shoot comms are second to none and you will not meet a friendlier, more welcoming host than Leanne and husband Simon.

I usually make my visits a multi-day affair and my most recent was no exception. Shooting over two days with two of the amazing local models, Georgia Brown and Belle Noire. Leanne was kind enough to provide accommodation for me whist there shooting and the whole visit was a delighful experience.

Basford Hurst is a signifcan date in my shooting calender which I hope to repeat next year. Thanks Leanne so very much.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Basford Hurst Cottage as a model for their Studio Days. Leanne, the host, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, even when my train plans were disrupted. Her husband was also very friendly and hospitable, taking me out for dinner and ensuring I felt at home.

The cottage is nestled in a picturesque woodland, offering breathtaking natural beauty. The large bridge and surrounding greenery provide ample opportunities for outdoor photography. Inside, the beautifully decorated rooms create a truly inspiring atmosphere.

The cottage offers comfortable and cozy accommodations, making it a perfect base for creative work.

Having been to Basford Hurst Cottage, when I saw a studio day for Sophia Gray pop up, I knew I had to book on! The studio is amazing with ample natural light in every room. The woodland at the back is peaceful and perfect for some outdoorsy vibes.

Leanne and Simon are always incredibly inviting and helpful throughout the shoots, you couldn't wish for a better host!

Thank you guys, I will definitely be back! Highly recommend this studio!!
