SHARE A SHOOT: Man Of The Sea Shoot With Mirror Image'S', MUA Emily Prendergast And Model Ollie

Mirror Image'S' is a part-time photographer based in Poole, United Kingdom, with more than 4 years of experience.

Following their recent photoshoot with model Ollie and make-up artist Emily Prendergast, Mirror Image'S' generously gave their time for a quick interview to share their shoot with us.

How did you come up with the concept? Did anything inspire you?

I can't take the kudos for this concept, as it was all Emily Prentagast's idea.

I had worked with Emily before on a make-up look that she kindly helped me with, so when she asked me to help her with this shoot, I knew it would be good.

I've asked Emily a few questions. Her concept was the idea of a 'merman' half man, half lionfish.

What did you do to plan the shoot?

Emily drew some images beforehand, which she sent me, and did some practice runs on her arm.

The model is Ollie, who also happens to be her boyfriend, and he's used to being her muse.

How did you arrange the shoot?

I chatted with Emily via Instagram. We decided on a date and the location near her in Lymington…plenty of coastline there to choose from.

What was it like shooting at that location?

The location is actually quite fierce and very windy, so lots of waves and surf.

The weather was supposed to be ok on the day we had arranged, but it was blowing a gale and spotting with rain. Since Emily had spent the previous 6 hours body painting Ollie, we just went for it.

We actually only shot for about half an hour with approximately 40 images taken. After Ollie got in the water, most of the body paint had washed off.

Tell us about the gear you used.

I use a Nikon d5600 and a 35mm lens, flash just wasn't going to work in the location, so I had to do a fair bit of recovery in post.

What's your favourite image from the shoot?

Most definitely, my favourite image is the last one of Ollie standing on the rocks.
