I had a brilliant first time shoot with Alan last week at my home in Swindon.

Alan was a joy to work with-so easy going, great company throughout, creative and professional.

I really enjoyed working with Alan, we got some great images from portraits-art nude styles.

I would love to shoot again soon and I am happy to recommend Alan to any models out there.

Thank you

Carla :)

I have been on Alans want to work with list for ages and finally got to shoot with him while at the Studland event at the weekend.

Pre shoot communication was great and he had ideas of what he wanted to shoot which made packing much easier.

I loved working with Alan he's so lovely and easy to work with. We chatted through out the shoot and also had laugh. Very relaxed and laid back.. Thank you for a lovely afternoon shooting and look forward to possibly working together again in the future.

Ecce!

I had an amazing shoot with Alan at Studland! He was swift to book me when I announced my availability and had a few ideas about what to shoot. On the day he was friendly and a relaxing person to shoot with, open to my ideas as well, as we explored the house and grounds and got some great images (whilst only getting a little lost on the beach). I'm really looking forward to seeing the results and thoroughly recommend working with Alan :)

I had the pleasure of working with Alan at Studland House last week. His pre-comms were excellent, including a moodboard and inspiring video(!), and on the day we created a whole host of beautiful images. Alan has a good eye for colour and light but is also a kind and considerate gentleman who I found very interesting to chat to between sets. I'd be delighted to work with him again and would happily recommend Alan to others.

Big thumbs up from me!

Organizing a shoot with Alan was no problem, great direct conscise communications.

He was very easy to work with, professional in attitude but still fun to be with, and open to my input.

It was a pleasure, and some great looking images, yayy!

Thank you Alan!

I very much enjoyed my shoot with Alan a few days ago. He came to one of my favourite locations near where I live - a striking set of 15th century ruins by a river and woodland. We had a fun time avoiding an unusually large number of people who'd decided to turn up on the same day, and Alan managed to get lots of photos in various beautiful mini-sets despite this challenge! I found Alan very easy to chat to and get on with, and would be very happy to model for him again.

I had such an enjoyable shoot with Alan!

We haven't shot in a long time but now that I moved closer we can definitely make up for that :)

Alan is so easy to get along with, very respectful and a good photographer, can't wait to see the results as in the back of the camera looked Amazing!

Highly recommend!

It had been a fair while since we last worked together... Too long in fact!!! Given the many amazing shoots I had enjoyed with Alan, I genuinely couldn't believe it when we finally got around to making lush pictures one again! What a catch-up it was and what a corking collection of images we made on this day. It was a good day... A very, VERY good day!! :)

We worked at Tim's cottage for what will be the very last time because Tim has now relocated - that was fun in terms of memories because that was where our very first shoot together was too so it was great coming up with new concepts and ideas in some familiar spaces etc. All manner of madness from super-girl tops to Alan dashing outside and taking hazy images through the window which were literally so beautiful! Of course Alan was the usual whizz-kid with the natural light taking on every challenge, be it limited light or strong rays... It's totally his forte and he does it so well capturing a vast degree of emotion with every shot. We do have little moments every time a shot is achieved where the eyes are looking particularly yum - it's so funny these quirks you develop as a team once you have worked together a dozen times and you start to catapult ideas off one another. :) Alan began posting some edits which I was able to check out properly once I'd finished my tour of Kent... And OH MY GOODNESS. Some of my favourite portraits literally ever. Alan is that creative who is routinely happy to improvise and go with the flow and let the models throw their ideas in... But when he see's something working - he's on it like a car bonnet and really nails some outstanding stuff! What a reunion - I have no words!

As per usual, we probably did not stop talking from the moment Alan arrived to the end of the shoot. Lot's of general catch-up, whinging about the weather (whether it's been bad or good!) muttering to ourselves mid-shoot (doesn't every creative talk to themselves?) and just having a lovely social time as we worked which makes the whole atmosphere really enjoyable without fail. He's such a chirpy and full of energy chap so we gelled pretty well from the word go and have always had Duracell style shoots. :P Yet at the same time, the pace doesn't feel pressured, it feels productive; and you get plenty of time to throw a few brews down your necks. PERFECT. :D Alan also kindly let me do my back-of-camera snaps again as well, he's honestly such a lovely down-to-earth gent. I couldn't ever imagine anyone struggling to get on with Alan. His whole character and enthusiasm for the shoots just radiates through the room!

As always: professional as can be every single time, respectful and generous - a real good egg who I would recommend time and time again without a speck of hesitation. :)

Thank you so much Alan!!!!!

I had my first shoot, and hopefully not the last with Alan recently, and it was just lovely.

Alan came prepared with a bag full of props, and a head full of ideas. Working with Alan was a pleasure, it was a beautiful sunny day and he used the natural light in the studio and produced so many fantastic images. Alan was very chatty and complimentary whilst still being very professional and respectful. I can't wait to see more images from our shoot as they are edited and I would certainly work with Alan again and recommend him.

Thank you Alan :)

Yet another great shoot with Alan and yet another day public transport let us down!! Not to worry though, all was fine in the end. Trains, snow, wind and no car parking spaces can't stop us...but next time maybe give us both a break, yeah? Hahaha.

Despite all the above we still got our half a day shoot completed! We really focused on a strong theme during the time we had and played around with lighting a lot to create the mood we were after. I really do like the images we created and can't wait to edit some more!

Alan bought some cool flowers to use (and let me keep them) and some amazing accessories too (and let me keep them) he is too kind for his own good this man!!

As always, had a fab shoot and can't wait to work with Alan again next time!

Thank you so so much, Alan! :)

Pippa.

Alan is one of those people you just click straight away with, full of intellect, creativity & interesting conversation made my shoot really enjoyable.

I loved the way Alan shot me & the creative angles including the 'Dutch tilt' - a little technique I'll be sure to remember myself!

Thank you for coming all the way to Thurston, greatly appreciated!

I was lucky enough to spend a few hours shooting with Alan quite recently. Pre-communication was spot on, he was a pleasure be shoot and spend time with, and also is rather funny! We had such a laugh shooting a variety of looks and styles, and he was happy for me to try out different outfits and styling methods with the material he had brought along.

He made me feel very comfortable and is a lovely genuine guy,

Thank you once again and I can not wait for our next shoot....fish....seals.....dolphins....sharks....mermaids....the whole ocean!!

:)

Thank you xx

I had the pleasure of working with Alan last week and what a pleasure it was! He is a very easy going, chatty and funny man, very complimentary and respectful. The time flew by and pre-comms were spot-on, he also came well prepared, arrived early and didn't even rearrange my furniture; so no complaints here ;)

I really do hope to get the opportunity to work with Alan again, as I think we'd get even better shots now that we've been acquainted :) Thanks Alan!

I just don't get it... Like, every time Alan turns up on our shoots he does this thing where he points this strange electronic device thing in my direction and then all these weird little pixel things do something fancy and there's one amazing image after another. I could throw the most crazy pose/look/idea at him and he still manages to smash awesomeness! I could be stood on one leg, wearing a clown suit, juggling aubergines whilst applying lipstick and the result would be beautifully story telling wrapped in that stunning natural light that he manages so well! To put it bluntly - Alan is such a creatively motivated gent with so much enthusiasm and artistic interest to go around... I think 1000 shoots later we still wouldn't be scratching our heads wondering what to shoot next. There is NEVER a dull moment working with the lovely Alan, he works tirelessly to bring out the beauty in everything he points his lens at and concocts stupendous ideas before a shoot. I love it!

This time around at Joel Hicks Photographic we tackled the great outdoors again achieving totally different to last time... Alan has always taken gorgeous portraits and sensually glamorous styles too but I saw his skill for larger dramatic environments flourish just in the spur of a moment whilst we was taking some test shots... thorns or no thorns, I was getting in that boat because what Alan was doing with composition was out of this world! The cabin got an epic once-over too; that was always going to be a guarantee because the light in there is so Alan. And as expected B.E.A.Utiful piccytures! :D

If you're a model and you have a forthcoming shoot with Alan, you will really enjoy working together. He is tremendously laid back, so much fun and has the biggest heart too... we forever do just as much chattering as we do shooting - the productivity is still the same though it just seems like the rapport is so good we manage to get all of this done at once. :P Time goes quickly, the kettle gets a fair amount of use and we make laughs at every opportunity. Shoots should always be a fun experience for all parties and when shooting with Alan, it goes without saying that all of this is guaranteed.

He's always a star where communications are concerned, it makes my life so much easier when I coordinate everything. Creativity is discussed to get the ball rolling and then on the day we do our fair share of impromptu shooting as well. It's a perfect mix, a perfect pace and al-round tremendous shooting. I cannot recommend this photographer enough... it's written in stone that he is a legend! :D

Thank you so much for another fabulous shoot Alan. Until next time!

I love working with Alan- we always have such fun and take looooads of cool images too! I think I must have spent half of it on the floor laughing this time ;) Something in the coffee... ;)
