In Search of That Perfect Shot..............

Attended a shoot at The Boardroom where Keli MUA and Marie Jean Taylor (Model) worked as a team on Miss Havisham theme. Both ladies are a joy to work with and provided an outstanding set/make up/costumes so that I got some fabulous results. Both are super-creative and made the shoot a real pleasure to do. So pleased I booked onto this and can't wait to work with them again. Thank you ladies. :)X

Second shoot with Marie this time with the Miss Havisham theme staged at The Boardroom in derby with Keli Cartwright as MUA. Whole team worked flawlessly all day, attention to detail was paramount, Marie's experience is boundless which she hones for your own style. Marie is never not working so I recommend you definitely make a point of catching up with her. The woman with a thousand different looks.

Marie is amazing, intelligent, fabulous and above all a fantastic model and friend. I have had the priviledge of working with Marie a few times and in all our shoots I have not taken a bad shot. Marie is beautiful inside and out and has taught me so much since she was my my very first model I ever worked with. I can't recommend Marie highly enough and if you have not worked with her it is well worth doing so.

Met and worked with Marie for the first time at f/8 studio, Gloucester. Originally I had booked a place on Marie's studio day at Pozers but thanks to Alley at Pozers the venue was changed to f/8.

Marie is an absolute pleasure to work with; beautiful, slender, elfin looks, experienced, and very capable. We worked to nude levels using natural light at first thanks to a break in the stormy weather. Subsequently I used studio flash with a variety of modifiers. Marie easily created stunning poses in a variety of settings and arrangements with no direction required after discussing particular shooting styles. A very warm, friendly, chatty person who oozes confidence and fond of chocolate biscuits too. I heartily recommend Marie 100% and hope to work together in the future.

Take in the Alps

Marie Jean Taylor makes me realise just how much I love making art. I adored working with her on this shoot. It was a memorable, brilliant and incomparable experience.

Having briefly worked with her once before I already knew about her extraordinary talent for creating astonishingly beautiful images.

But what really blew me away this time was her unflagging intensity and commitment in every shot. During eight hours and through various contrasting sets she created one incredible moment after another. And with unrelenting energy she found an expression and an emotion deep within that completely chimed with my every idea. I left the studio feeling that I’d just summited a much sought after peak. And there on the summit was a mouthwatering view of everything before me: my path ahead as an artist and the joy that it would bring me.

Would I shoot with her again? My mind is unspooling with a vision of what we might create. If I was to try and define exactly what Marie offers me, and numerous other devoted photographers, I’d say that it is her ability to carve out a mood and then maximise its impact on the viewer. How she does this is with her body, with gesture and with facial expression. It reminds me of Rowan Atkinson’s quip: “My body is my tool”.

It was so exciting going through the editing process ... I felt magically engaged in reliving that sense of intimacy she had been able to generate. Being able to explore each shot in detail enabled me to observe how she is so deeply absorbed by every instant of time as a separate entity; as if it is the pivotal moment of a film or play for her character. It’s at such a level that I swear I can perceive the mood she is conveying on the surface of her skin! Everything in the shot harmonises with the contours and colours she exudes.

I like to make temporary sets in the studio. It gives me a context for the shot and half the story I’m telling. When Marie walked into my ‘nautical’ set it was as if she had ignited its meanings. She’d take up a posture, position and expression without the need for direction, and in so doing, completely resolve the image. I was fascinated by her ability to do that and also by her ability to continually deepen the connections between the camera, the light, herself and the other components in the shot as the set evolved.

She has an intuitive sense of the image and how it will turn out. Making use of her vast knowledge, experience and talent, she literally wills it into being. The energy with which she does this is on the level of pure spirit power: it’s palpable ... unmissable ... off the scale. Her body is completely tuned to her will. Her focus is unshakeable; her eyes so powerfully alive. Two wonderful orbs - portals that drink in the world. Photographing her is like taking a trip through those glorious portals. They are so sentient, so sensible to their surroundings, so sensual in the generosity of their beauty.

Eight hours was not nearly enough to satiate my appetite for the artist that is Marie Jean Taylor. Working with her again would fulfil me entirely. Well until the next time anyway! I’d be counting down the days, planning ... planning some more ... relishing the prospect of a renewed journey into her artistry.

With Marie I seem to be visited by all the joy and all the laughter I need. And if I want to dial in some darkness, she’ll know it by the way I move the camera ... by my method of approach ... by the angles I make ... and I won’t even have to say anything. She spoils me for other models. She will spoil you too.

Pre-shoot comms were great, and Marie turned up with a huge suitcase full of outfits (not all for my shoot!)

The shoot itself was super. Marie thoroughly engaged with the project, and is really wasy to work with.

And she helped me tidy up afterwards :)

I'd thoroughly recommend Marie, and look forward to working with her another time.

What can I say about this shoot? There was latex, blood, studio lights falling over, Marie sticking to the set floor and walls, Marie sticking to herself, bad jokes, paint bush incidents and a wanton lack of care for carpets and soft furnishings.

In short, it was a terrific shoot and produced some epic results. As always, Marie was the model of professionalism - even when I was doing my best to put her off.

She's great, you need to work with her. 'Nuff said.

I had my second shoot with this lovely lady yesterday. A thoroughly enjoyable two hours at Catfish Studio. Marie is a delight to photograph, she poses beautifully and effortlessly with no need for direction but responds perfectly if asked. Totally professional, well organised and enthusiastic about her work but friendly, down to earth, great fun, and easy to get along with. Book a shoot with her, you'll be very glad that you did.

Had the great pleasure of working with Marie Jean on Saturday at the photographic session day at Wortley top forge near sheffield. Marie Jean has a great look, takes direction easily and is very patient. Although we only worked together for a short period I felt that we had created some great images. I would really like to work with Marie Jean again for a longer period sometime in the future.
