I recently took part in the Jon Downs/Theresa Louise creativity workshop at Saracen House Studio.

Having booked my place in the workshop a couple of weeks earlier I had become a little sceptical, as the day approached, that I had made a mistake as Jon’s style is very different to mine and I thought I may not find the workshop interesting.

How wrong could I be. Jon and Theresa are a wonderful partnership, very enthusiastic and positive, always encouraging you to try things and make mistakes while searching for the sweet spot of your creativity.

With only 4 participants there was always something to do and try and very little standing around.

Jon is a very cheerful and easy person to be around and has a very clear idea of what he is trying to do. Theresa, apart from being a fabulous subject to photograph is also very knowledgeable about the various skills involved and often saved me from humiliation by explaining to me how my camera worked. She is very calming to be around and considering her vast experience, never seemed frustrated by my ineptness or the time I took to do things.

Overall a fabulous, educational and fun event with two lovely people I can happily recommend to anyone interested in photography. Thank you both for a great experience and all the new skills I learned.

Wow what an Epic unforgettable shoot with the amazing Jon Downs!!

I was thrilled when Jon and I managed to get something organised as I’ve loved his work for quite a while now. Prior to shooting pre-communications was excellent and I really enjoyed discussing ideas together.

On the day of the shoot Jon kindly collected me from the station which I really appreciated. He was friendly and welcoming from the start which put me at ease. We first shot on a crazy windy beach but everything just worked so well!! Jon has such a beautiful home with some really cool areas for taking some really amazing shots.

I love Jons way of working he looks at things from an alternative perspective and knows so many cool photography tricks. He’s just so creative and innovative and I really admire his style of work. Not to forget Jon is also such a talented retoucher and framer as well as photographer. His combination of skills is just ace. He’s also such a respectful kind gentleman too who was so respectful of my modelling levels and limits.

When I saw some of the pictures I was BLOWN AWAY!! I was so pleased with the results ahhh!!!

What a fab shoot can’t thank him enough and can’t wait till the next one.

So had my 2nd shoot with the talented and very lovely man himself Jon! And omg what an amazing shoot it was!! we both had the same ideas of what we wanted and behind the back of the camera were just incredible already!! We did so many different sets and always have a laugh too also not gunna forget the fancy coffee's too!

Cannot wait to see the final shots 😍 if you havnt worked with Jon yet you need too!! Xx

Had a wonderful shoot with Jon in Brighton shooting a mix of corsets, gowns lingerie and always a lot of laughter and silly humorous antidotes, NIN and binge watching the new Pam and Tommy series, already got our plan down for the next shoot in October, no pressure there Jon, ok maybe a little bit

Just had my 1st shoot with Jon. I really hope it will be the 1st of many. I reached out to Jon a while back as I'm a big fan and we eventually managed to get together in Brighton at a beautiful hotel suite.

1st off we had such a great laugh.

He was a pleasure to be around and the images I saw blew my mind!

Can't wait to see the end results!

Jon made me feel so comfortable, I felt beautiful and confident throughout. With many goosebump/omg moments!! 😊

Had an amazing shoot with Jon, shot some beautiful soft images in my home using natural light.

I've worked with Jon at least a dozen times now, which speaks more to his patience and tenacity than 400-odd references ever could. Most recently we shot at Aura in Northampton, followed by an impromptu wander around Milton Keynes the following day.

Jon is one of my favourite people to work with because of his incredible versatility. He can shoot absolutely anything, anywhere, with any light; slap it upside the head with his signature wonky angles and blurry bokeh shit and it'll work! Over the years we've shot on busy beaches, in thunderstorms, cluttered kitchens, bright sunlight, wardrobes, high streets, in the dark, in heatwaves, on art installations and much more - no one can 'find' the shot like Jon can.

He's an absolute diamond and I count myself very lucky every time we shoot.

Woooow !!!! Woooow !!! WOOOOOOW !!! All I can say ...

I dont even know where to start...Jon is such an Amazing photographer but not only that he is a true artist.

We have spend couple days together and creating lots of wonderful photos . Jon is just mega easy going, friendly and with very cool sense of humour. I just adore his company and its never enough. He always get out the best from a model. He also spots the most cool places and angles to create a very unique photos . Every time we do a photoshoot Its getting better and better Im more inspired by him, we always create something new.

He is my absolutely TIP TOP people 👌 and of top of that wonderful friend.

Not to Namby Pamby 😁 hahahah....thats new words he teach me too haha...

This was my 2nd (technically 3rd haha) shoot with Jon and oh my god, he is just such a joy to work with! I adore working and spending time with Jon - he is truly one of a kind. Absolutely lovely guy who is also insanely talented and a great conversationalist. I would 100% recommend working with Jon if you get a chance, you will have a blast :)

What an excellent guy and tutor!

This was my first time meeting Jon and I was impressed from the start as to his procedure to create excellent imagery. I replied to one of his castings for a workshop and I learnt a lot that day, and would certainly look forward to meeting him again in the future.

Although I have worked with Jon (and Theresa) before this was Jon's first visit to the studio doing his Creativity Workshop.

Jon is passionate about his photography and it really shows through when he is talking to the photographers.

Jon works great with Theresa and nothing is set in stone and the event is very fluid with laughs and jokes all round but some great images produced in the process.

I would love to have Jon back to do another workshop in the future.

Definitely recommended for some amazingly different shots

I attended one of Jon & Theresa’s creative workshops yesterday, as a complete beginner to photography they were both extremely helpful, informative and resourceful.

Jon and Theresa’s relationship made the entire workshop an absolute delight to be at. Had a great time and picked up a lot of useful creative techniques.

Highly recommend and looking forward to working with both of them again soon.

I attended one of Jons workshops at the kempston studio and had a great day. I thought I might be out of my depth a little bit but everything was well explained and I learnt lots. Jon was really easy going and fun to be around, I hope to attend another one soon.

It's been such a long time I've seen this lovely face! Too long!

I'm so glad Jon reached me out to invite for a coffee meet and photography. I have always enjoyed Jon's company, his pictures and always positive energy. This meet up meant that it's going to be a one awesome day!

Jon drove all the way to Cambridge and was very patient while I was late. We were so lucky to have all this sunshine and end up going to a beautiful Wandlebury park in Cambridge. Oh my days! It was such a beautiful location and perfectly worked for the awesome Jon's portraits . What impressed me the most is his ability to see amazing shots everywhere (and by everywhere I mean it)! That's a talent of a great artist. Let's not forget Jon's blast of creativity and infectious laugh. On top of creating beautiful art we also had a nice walk, lovely conversations and lots of coffee. What else model could want ?

I worked with Jon for many years and can truly call him a friend . He is very supportive and protective for models, a genuinely nice person to spend time with and a top notch photographer. Recommended x1000000.

Dear (crazy) Jon. Thank you for being you. You are a one awesome human being. Please never change. P.s. good luck with your man cave's build. It's going to be interesting to hear about the final version of it !

And what a amazing shoot it really was definitely worth the wait! Not only is he very professional and creative in his photography he is such a lovely guy so funny and I felt completely relaxed and very comfortable working with him!

The shots on the back of the camera were already insane 😳 cannot wait to see the finish shots!!

I love how we both had the same simular ideas what we wanted to shoot in! If you have not done a shoot with Jon you need too 1000% recommend 👌

Oh and the lovely refreshments too not forgetting the frothy possibly lumpy mocha 😅
