Hi to all my photographic and photogenic friends !
See the amendment at the end of this profile !
I have been taking photographs on a more or less regular basis for more than 40 years and am willing to take on any project, time permitting. Paid or unpaid depending on the nature of the job.
At this moment I am a very active "OAP" I am also a university student, tour guide, and coach driver. But I am planning to return to photography on a more regular basis when time will permit me.
In the past I did mainly architectural and landscape subjects. A building or landscape does not move, at least is not supposed to. A model does of course and it is up to the photographer to direct her (or him or even them).
I grew up with film, I am no good at Photoshop. I still develop and print my own black and white films. The digital camera has taken over - or has it? My old film-based camera still works as good as when it was new, about 17 years ago. The digital age has become a constant race to keep up with technology. Perhaps it is handy to be able to keep shooting in large bursts, but it also requires sifting through hundreds of images. Some people can perform miracles in post-production. I am not one of them.
Using film really improves camera techniques, my black-and-white photos were all shot on film. I scanned the prints, so there is no manipulation involved other than scanning.
I am based in Dublin, if anyone is interested I am willing to introduce them to the dark room.
To anyone interested in working with me: Circumstances change. I do hope that I can get a bit of a "grip" again on mine. Recently I have not been very active and have broken my habit of always responding.
What happened, apart from passing my B.A. and having to work hard again in the tourist industry, my younger brother in the Netherlands developed a sudden health problem. Worries but he is recovering. I would have wanted to visit him, but my son who has been living in Scotland suddenly had a job offer in Dublin. His application process had taken several months, then it became reality. My wife and I are allowing him to move into our house with his family but that means that my wife and I are facing a very sudden move into a smaller house nearby.
So, my photographic friends, it may take a little while before I can take up photography again as a serious hobby. Thanks to all the lovely and friendly models. I will be back !!!
