Had another shoot today with Dave, this should be our fourth shoot together if I remember correctly ;)

Dave came to the group shoot that Steve (Knight Vision Photography) had organized and it went really, really well! He came and picked me up and we arrived early and prepared! He knew what he wanted to shoot and things went pretty smoothly!

He was also quite good at directing when it was needed!

Last minute booking with Dave, Steve and fellow photographer Doug at Sowton studio yesterday. Loved being in front of and under the lights for their studio shoot. Dave met us at the door to his studio and for a few hours they snapped away and it was an absolute delight. The images looked great and I'm so pleased with the results.

Knight Vision Photography

I spent another great afternoon in the company of Dave in his well equiped studio. We were able to experiment a few lighting ideas that gave some great results. It's always a pleasurable time in a relaxed studio space.

I'm really happy to be Dave's 200th reference! This was our third shoot together at his studio and we both decided to take a different direction with this shoot! I really enjoy working with Dave so much and I'm really grateful he is local to me!

I had so much fun at the shoot and was really pleased with the images we make at every shoot! He is a very talented photographer who has an eye for detail and is always willing to take the next step and do his best.

We have a few things planned soon, including a group shoot so. I'm really looking forward to working with him more in the future.

Knight Vision Photography

I have worked at Mr Dave Sowton Studio Nr Exeter where I found Dave only to ready to help where needed. The studio is very well equipped with various lighting and modifiers, a good selection of backdrops, spaces to work (he is also creating sets) plus the private garden area as well. I can highly recommend this space if you are looking for somewhere in the Exeter area. Oh and he makes a great cuppa.

I booked Dave's studio today for a shoot with Chloe, Dave was very welcoming and his studio has plenty of shooting opportunities.

His studio hire rates are very reasonable and with the studio being well located, its an ideal place to book.

I would recommend booking his studio.

Catching up with Dave is simply the highlight of coming to Devon! :D

He’s known by all the models as a living legend and is a smashing photographer as well as brilliant host providing a safe base and a well-kitted studio with lovely homely and garden sets to utilise as a shooting area with other photographers as well. :) His pooches will Wim your heart immediately, and it’s nice to be able to have a proper natter/chilled out brew in the time after your shoots in good company as tours are very physically demanding and often involve just switching into auto-pilot mode!

We shot this time too! Probably my fave festive time shot of all time (hard to crack sometimes with the obvious cliche - but Dave made it look easy with his passion for portraits). And we did a really fun shot at the local railway station too - kitted out to the max as the typical travelling model (6 million bags) dressing gown/coat the lot! X-D So he’s got a sublime eye for his arty stuff, but he’s totally game for fun and quirky ideas as well! The train shot involved being quite sharp off the mark too trying to catch the movement of a passing (high speed) train in the background for effect during a rail strike! Dave got the shot though - and all executed completely safely. He’s very conscious of the models well-being whenever he works.

My stay at Dave’s this time was staggered again with a trip across the pond to Guernsey breaking it up. It’s become a standard thing for me to jump on a plane at Exeter’s little airport haha! And get this (when talking about how much of a bloomin’ star Dave is!) he so kindly picks me up and drops me off too, even when the flight times are utterly stupid hours! I mean, that alone if worth a blinkin’ trophy engraved with “star host” before all else!! He really does go above and beyond to help those visiting, and I cannot rave about that enough. :) His studio is very well equipped with numerous controlled lighting setups/modifiers and backgrounds for specific studio concepts, and then if yourself and a photographer who has booked you at Devonmead studio wants a more natural look to the images then you’ve got gallons of natural light and furniture nicely making rooms into sets. Best of both worlds! 👌

So do I recommend Dave?

Oh hell yes!!!

After using Mr Dave's studio for the past year or so I finally had the pleasure to work with Dave himself during a short shoot meet up within his studio.

He knew exactly what shots he wanted for his project and had brought out the gels and smoke for a couple of interesting shots also.

Dave is such gentlemen, always welcomes people into his studio with such a warm, kindness, friendly and relaxing vibe. Not to mention his dogs are always a joy to see when I walk through the door, as they are so well behaved and friendly. He has such a wide selection of space to use within his studio.

Highly recommend and defiantly would love to work with Dave again on a longer shoot.

Second shoot with Dave and I'm absolutely in love with the images we produced from this shoot. I've definitely enjoyed what we do together, we had a variety of things to cover for this shoot. Some commercial/brand work, being the one who first tested out Dave's new style, equipment and even doing some boudoir with an entirely new look!

Dave has always been fun to be around and very easy to work with. I couldn't ask for more as a photographer, from the portrait shots you can definitely see his style of beauty photography as he captured so many details. After using his studio many times since I started modelling, I was so glad to have the privilege to be in front of his lenses this time round!

I look forward to working with him in the future, I highly recommend him! It's been a pleasure shooting with you at the studio when I first started modelling, right down to the new year. Only a few months into it now but the progress I've made from the beginning to my shoot with Dave is immense!

Also have to commend his dogs as Timmy and Ruby are an absolute delight to be around.

Shot with Mr Dave for a short hour to do a collaboration with Jenna South West, when I had issues before arriving, he was very patient and understanding. We had a nice talk while shooting, and had a little chuckle when things got messy! It was a lot of fun and it was nice to work with Dave in other ways than just using his studio, as I have done plenty of times before.

We will be shooting again in two weeks to do something a bit more tidier ahaha.

Henna North West

I did the henna designs on a lovely model called Chloe Valentine for a shoot with Mr Dave. He managed to capture my henna designs very well on the shoot and I am very happy with the results. Thank you :)

Artemis Fauna

Dave joined us for another Artemisian event in September- we hosted the trip in Tuscany once again.

Mr Dave is a regular on Artemisian trips (he has been on every one!) so as always we listen to the feedback we get- 1-2-1 time is good, more time to relax in the day, not too many early mornings etc. This was Artemisian's first TRIO event and we made sure every photographer got quality 1-2-1 and even 1-2-3 time with all the models! :)

A huge Tuscan villa was hired with fabulous grounds and incredible views. A always everyone walked away from the event with thousands of stunning images. We shot all sorts of genres and once again set up strong themed shoots- Gypsy, Jack Vettriano and of course, the street fashion in the most stunning local town. I'm very excited to see more results from my month away in Tuscany! I went through and 5* a lot of images!! Haha.

I'm looking forward to hosting Dave in Sicily in May 2020 for a four day trio event, and hopefully again in Lanzarote later on in the year! Thank you so much for supporting us over the years.

Artemisian Luxury Photographic Holidays

I recently got the chance to work with Dave at the Artemisian event in Tuscany :) It has been a few years since our first shoot so it was lovely to catch up!

Dave hasn't changed much haha he is still a barrel of laughs and great company to be around. We didn't have long to shoot as it was nearing the end of time on the trip and Dave and the bad boys joined for the trio shoot with myself, Siren and of course the lady herself Artemis Fauna :)

He did have some 1-2-1 time to start and then the rest of the trip was trio. Dave was brilliant throughout and got stunning images, I look forward to seeing them :)

I worked with dave a couple of years ago for probably a few shoots at an studio day... but didn't really work together as such.

I finally had the chance last Saturday to work with him and I brought a new model with me as I'm looking to getting her into the industry.

Was really well, he put up with my craziness 🤪 even though I payed more attention to Roxy... ( his dog)
