"I don't really understand why Jeremy Corbyn supporters are being so vitriolic today. Keir Starmer was elected by a majority of the membership, just as Corbyn was in 2015."
I was a huge supporter of Jeremy Corbyn & his manifesto - I still am as far as his policies go, which is why I voted for Rebecca Long-Bailey to be the next Labour leader. Even so, I am looking forward to seeing what happens with Starmer in charge.
Naturally the job of Labour supporters is to hold the right wing to account, but it’s also absolutely fine for Starmer to be held to account by fellow far left socialists - and it’s to be expected, no different from anyone holding their fellow work colleagues to account to ensure their principles remain in check. Vitriol however, is unnecessary.
Although I’m to the left of him, he is still a socialist & probably the best choice for the time being. And if you really want the tories out, deep down you’d be celebrating Keir Starmer’s victory today too.
