Self-isolation 2020
Diary of a Political Pandemic
A big thanks to all the Twitter users I've credited on each photo, who have provided tweets for the inspiration of my latest photography project.
I'm living out of my caravan and then when the weather gets warmer in my teepee too. All my photos are taken in my little makeshift homes, plus the garden, and I'm isolating for at least 12 weeks as recommended by the NHS for being high risk of serious symptoms from Covid-19, documenting the world around me during this bizzare, fascinating & quite frightening time in history.
Not much is happening here where I am as I moved out of London 2 & a bit years ago and now live in the middle of nowhere in West Sussex, practically in the sea, so I don't see many people anyway.
I'm great at being a hermit and being silly with a camera. I've modelled for other photographers for 15 years and photographed other models working to nude, fashion & glamour too, but photography is so much more than boobs, bums, sex & aesthetic beauty and I wanted to start creating more meaningful, controversial & thought-proving work on important and current issues.
92 days in isolation, 92 photos..
All are are self-portraits, entirely self-shot using my Nikon D850, a tripod & interval timer setting on the camera. Some are natural light shots with a reflector.. others were taken after dark with lighting, mostly either portable Godox AD360 flash with gridded beauty dish, or pop-up ring flash.
Post production is mostly wet plate effect using Analog Efex Pro 2..
Be part of the solution, not the problem
Chiara
