Near the water you often find these bollards. They are made for mermaids to sit on.

The background is the beautiful city of Leer, Ostfriesland, Germany. The tower with the green roof belongs to their beautiful town hall. The water is their harbour, a side arm of the river Ems leading to the North Sea.
