I was modelling at one of Andrew's masterclasses and really enjoyed the experience. The shoot was planned really well; both before and during the shoot Andrew was very structured and organised. He was very friendly, professional and polite. Oh and Andrew's wife is just lovely, she was helping him in his workshop.

All in all, a very positive experience, and I would love to work with Andrew again!

Having worked with Andrew a few times over the years, I was delighted to be invited on his Lakes & Mountains trip to the Italian Lakes last week. Pre-comms were absolutely brilliant and he answered all my questions with patience and care. During the trip, Andrew and his lovely wife Helen were wonderful hosts; making sure each photographer received both 1-to-1 tuition and solo shoot time, and supplying beautiful styling for the models.

Travelling with 11 people in a small bus for over 2,000 miles is not easy but Andrew remained upbeat, enthusiastic and kind throughout. The accommodation was brilliant and each location was breath-taking, which shows in the hundreds of stunning images created by the photographers. Andrew's experience and expertise is second to none and all the attendees left with new knowledge and confidence as well as amazing images.

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip with Andrew and would recommend him to both models and photographers in a heartbeat. It would be a pleasure to work with him again.

I've just been on one of Andrew's road trips to the Italian Lakes. The amount he fits in is amazing and he bought two excellent models - Sinopa Rin and Sharon Janney. Chosen locations were excellent and he fits some training in as well as letting people take photos in amazing places. It's an exhausting trip but really worth it. Thank you!

I attended Andrew's dancing workshop today, I turned up to a warm welcome today with a full rundown of the days events. We started with what equipment we would need and the differences between them.

I really appreciated this part of the day rather then just being told what settings and taking hundreds of images I could not reticulate. I really feel reassured I can replicate what we learnt today and feel it is the difference of Andrews training.

The dancer Andrew used was also brilliant helping us as photographers to understand what the dancer requires and not what we need as photographers, that was a real eyeopener as well.

A huge thank you to you Andrew and your team, was a phenomenal day. Highly recommended

Attended Andrews advanced lighting Tech workshop. A great instructor and practical demonstrator covering many different lighting set ups. A must know knowledge for anyone looking to tackle studio lighting techniques. Andrew is genuinely nice fellow whom delivers his lessons with confidence, a good manner and enthusiasm.

The course was easy going and relaxed with many new learnings both camera and lighting wise. Having bolsted my skills Andrew has my vote and would recommend to anyone looking to further their photography. Thank you.

I attended Andrew's night shooters course in Brighton, I was very impressed, Andrew is a nice guy, very pacient and made me feel comfortable, he explains things very well and is extremely knowledgeable.

I now know more regarding off camera flash and have a good technical understanding thanks to Andrew's teaching, good value for money, a pleasurable evening, highly recommended

I attended Andrew's Posing People Course run at Saracen House Studio in MK on Sunday 12th August.

This was an excellent course run by Andrew and his wife Helen, it certainly taught me that there is an awful lot of things to think about when posing people, the exercises in posing Charlotte and Sam the models were challenging as intended but Helen and Andrew were both on hand to suggest subtle changes and make you look at things you hadn't possibly considered when setting up the shot, the final practical part of the day was fun too as course participants are drafted into help with the group shots, great bunch of photographers on the course and lots of interaction with ideas being floated around between all participants.

As I say great course which made me go back and look at images from previous shoots.

Capture a Nomad

I experienced a trip of a lifetime, being lucky enough to work on one of his Photo Training courses in the north of Italy, Lake Garda.

Instead of flying in on the 21st, I chose to join them on the trip down form 18th all the way from my country door in the heart of Derbyshire, essentially travelling across 5 countries with the Appletons.

I can honestly say they made me feel utterly & completely welcome, as the referenced by Scarlet below, you'll never see a team coupled better than the APPLETONS.

For something you could imagine for even the best of people to be quite a strained trip they made it more than pleasant in professionalism as well as thoroughly fun company.

Working with Andrew on workshops has never been a stress and if anything very insightful to learning about photography while I work, he’ll always be attentive to everyones needs. the photographers especially my own.

the man never stops till everyones completely content before tending to his own. hat’s off to him.

All together, throughout the whole working experience it’s was such a great atmosphere to be around.

I can only wish for this professional experience again with he Appleton TEAM!

What a rollercoaster of week! First off can I just say that Andrew and Helen are the greatest husband and wife team to date, you simply can’t have anything but an incredible time, their banter had to be one of the best bits of the trip for me as they had everyone, myself included, in stitches!

The trip: I was kindly pick up and dropped off (can’t beat good door to door service!) at my home, and we pick each photographer up until we were on our way to the Eurotunnel, and finally we arrived in France for some beautiful shots around Paris, such an exceptional experience :) throughout the week we travelled through Switzerland until we arrived at our destination; Venice. Of which re got to shoot there over the course of two day before hitting reverse and shooting different locations on the way back. Now usually I would say that taking on these trips can be stressful and long although still fun, but on this occasion and with mainly thanks to our wonderful hosts, it was such a chilled week despite the cold of the Alps or the heat of Venice, both Andrew and Helen were extremely accommodating and made time for short breaks or planned dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner which can be quite hard considering there was a coeliac, vegetarian, and a vegan on the trip (sounds like the beginning of a dad joke!). The accommodation at each hotel was lovely and well thought out so we were never too far from a great spot for shooting, the models were warmly welcomed to join the photographers or you were more than welcome to explore or have a little you time, which is always highly appreciated.

The mini van was a great size for our group so everyone had leg room, and it worked greatly in our favour as a changing room too. I can honestly say that no detail was missed by the Appleton’s to help make a beautiful and fun trip, the shots are mind blowing, and the experience was one to never forget.

Andrew: I had yet to had the pleasure of working with Andrew on a 1-2-1 basis, other than modelling at one of his work shops last year, so I was more than thrilled to finally have the chance to see how he works. He is a true professional through and through, looking after the models and making sure everyone was happy, he was happy to step in and help when needed by the photographers but would also allow for them to just go with the flow and let them get on with it. When setting up shots Andrew works so quickly, there’s no standing about and waiting, no faffing, yet he could still explain in detail what he was doing so BOTH the photographers and models understood, and the models actually felt involved in the process so they could work to the best of their ability.

Helen: What an incredible woman! If you want a job done right, you simply call Helen, her styling is just impeccable down to the smallest stitch. She has such a great eye for getting that perfect shot whether it’s stray hairs, straightening a necklace, a different angle for a shot, or creating a whole new wardrobe for a set. She went above and beyond to get the styling just right including steaming the outfits herself in her own time, now that’s dedication :) Helen’s make up and hair styling are on point as well as she does it in no time at all, and she’s so carful as to not poke you in the eye or rip your hair out (which yes even highly trained artists do!), and she was sure to ask ahead of time if I had any allergies.

All in all it was a wonderful week, and I couldn’t imagine spending it in better company :D

Had a fabulous Master Studio Lighting Course with Andrew yesterday 5/4/18. Andrew is a very good teacher, he explains things very clearly and takes time to reinforce his explanations if you are not sure about a topic. I will most certainly be booking more courses with Andrew, i was amazed at the results i got from the day and look forward to putting all i have learned into practice at home.

Andrew ran a fantastic workshop on studio lighting at Saracen House studio. With the theory in the morning to practical exercises in the afternoon, I came away feeling much more confident of being in a studio environment. I'll be booking some more in the future.

I had the stupendous pleasure of working with Andrew last week on one of his fabulous Portfolio Builder Days in the style of Helmut Newton, along with Andrew Griffiths, and models Natasha J Bella, Rosa Brighid, and Elle Beth.

Pre comms were perfect and very informative, Andrew had arranged an awesome location of an old shoe factory in Northampton which was super spacious and filled with natural light throughout the day.

I loved how the day was run, Andrew was very patient with explaining lighting techniques and he encouraged photographers who moved away from the darker style of Helmut Newton and tried their own style. He made sure that the models were warm and comfortable as well as having regular breaks throughout the day, I must say the day was over in a flash, extremely fun and productive so I can’t wait for the next shoot!

Very highly recommended by me, thank you for a great day out :)

attended one of Andrews lighting workshops and i must say it was brilliant, very informative and hands on, it wasn't just a you sit there and listen day like i've had before, Andrew took time to explain everything and asked everyone if they were happy before moving on. All in all a great day and already booked onto his next course .

I was really excited to be shooting with Andrew and his lovely team at a beautiful gothic mansion and Andrew did not disappoint! A true dedicated professional which showed in pre-shoot communications. The amount of effort and organising Andrew and Helen put into this shoot was amazing! Styled perfectly to match the rooms in the mansion we managed 4/5 sets and makeup changes in the day!

Friendly, relaxed and accommodating, Andrew and Helen are the perfect team!
