Excellent insight, you didn’t sound at all nervous. You should have challenged Fleur to have a go! :)

well done - a great interview, You came across very well & as others have said the interviewer seemed genuinely interested.

I think you are so right about how much you & other models bring to a shoot.

Thank you for the link.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share that I was contacted recently by BBC Radio Oxford to be interviewed by the lovely Fleur Ostojak about my experiences of what it's like to be a nude model.

I was a bit nervous as had never spoken on radio before, but said yes - and I really enjoyed our conversation and the chance to reflect on the nude modelling industry.

If you'd like to listen, here's the link on BBC Sounds, available for 29 more days: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p09f6ldc
It was broadcast yesterday evening, and my chat with her is split into two parts, beginning just before the 1h11min mark and then again at around 1h19.

There is so much I could have said in response to her interesting questions (e.g. she asked me about misconceptions about the industry, how I have the confidence to do it, whether or not it's liberating, how things have been through lockdown, how Leafology has been keeping me busy, etc. etc.) and I couldn't possibly have fit everything in to a fairly short conversation - I am actually writing a book about life as a nude model, bit by bit - but I loved sharing a small part of this world with the wider public.

I'm loving this evening series Fleur's doing - she's been speaking to some really interesting people. Highly recommended and I'm really happy and honoured to be a part of it!

Thank you very much! :)

So nice to hear you voice again :D Surprised you mention Arctic wind in Norway and not snowing on a pass in Iceland :P
Hopefully you visit this year to watch the Northern lights

Haha! Yeah I should have mentioned Icelandic waterfalls, etc... Too little time. :) I think the Northern Lights are going to have to come to me, at this stage... :)

Thanks, Nige! Yeah, it was great that the angle was really positive and genuinely seemed to come from a place of curiosity rather than anything else. Fleur seemed pretty cool to me!

I think you got some important points across, including some that "normal" people can benefit from. It's far too easy to hate your body and too many people have body issues. Learning to really see and love your body is probably more important than people realise. Even if most people will never have the confidence to pose, standing in front of the mirror and admiring yourself is a good start. It was a good interview from someone who showed genuine interest, rather than the usual daft or leading questions, whenever (particularly it seems with local radio presenters) the media do an expose for whatever reason. We had a similar interview during COVID about the testing locally and the level of research beforehand was appalling; the presenter simply didn't have a clue and showed even less interest.

Thank you, Richard! I'm really pleased that it managed to take a turn towards body confidence and self affirmation rather than a more superficial angle, largely because the interviewer was open to that. I actually feel like I could talk about this stuff for hours. Ha! It's a constant practise, for anyone - even models - to feel happy in your own body, definitely.
