Voltaic.Media is a hobbyist photographer based in Derby, United Kingdom, with 3 months of experience.

After sharing her shoot (featuring model Sam B, who is not on PurplePort) with the PurplePort community, Vix (from Voltaic.Media) generously gave us her time for a quick interview, where she shared how these beautiful images were created, the inspirations behind the shoot, how it was planned, the camera gear she used, and much more.

How did you come up with the concept? Did anything inspire you?

Nothing in particular. Generally, I like my friend's dress style. But I know my friend had been through a tough time.

In some of the images, I wanted to capture these raw emotions throughout the shoot but also make him realise what a beautiful person he is, as well as a general fashion/editorial style shoot.

He did this with ease and without much direction at all.

What did you do to plan the shoot?

Originally, I had actually planned a shoot with another model, but I got let down on the day.

Sam was a stand-in model for the day, and he was excellent!

How did you arrange the shoot?

Just a quick message via Facebook in the hope that he was free to be a stand-in.

What was it like shooting at that location?

The location is very close to me. I'd walked past a few times and thought it would be great for some urban fashion/editorial images.

Tell us about the gear you used.

I have very minimal gear. I shot with a Canon 5D Mark II and a 50 Prime Lens. All that I needed.

What's your favourite image from the shoot?

The first shot we captured (see below). I love the simplicity and softness of the facial expression.
