FEATURED Interview with PurplePort model IammariaB
How did you get into modelling?
Since I was little, I have always wanted to become a model. When I started my further education, my parents supported me in fulfilling my dream by letting me join a model school where I learned how to pose and walk and gained basic knowledge about the role.
What did you do before becoming a model?
Before I became a model, I didn't do much more than study and get ready for adult life. We must remember that it is important to gain extra knowledge.

Do you have a health or fitness regime?
I have a very active life working as a visual merchandiser/stylist on the high street for a well-known brand. I spend my days walking, jumping, and running for 8 hours.
During my time off, I like to keep myself very active. I love long walks and exploring hidden locations in London, where I find the most beautiful spots.
In terms of diet, I include a variety of nutrients adapted to my routine, together with the necessary dose of water.

How do you prepare for photoshoots?
Pinterest or Keynote are my best friends. With them, I can tell what my whole inspiration is and show all the elements that the shoot will include.
I always like to add posing, results to achieve, outfit inspiration, makeup and hairstyle. Then, I can go through my wardrobe, pick the items related to the inspiration, and pack everything at least 48 hours in advance.

What style of photoshoot do you enjoy working on the most?
Fashion is my key theme/style. I have an extensive wardrobe, and I always love to inspire those new creatives and new faces to explore this side in the right way.
I also love all the edgy themes treated in delicate and tasteful care without forgetting that, as women, our bodies are our treasures, and we do it to inspire other women.

What's the most interesting photoshoot you've ever worked on?
In terms of photoshoots, I have to highlight the shoot with Simon Carter, where I was able to bring my capsule pieces.

What do you most enjoy about being a model?
The most enjoyable thing about being a model is to inspire others to love themselves as they are. To bring out the best in themselves, knowing their strengths and their best characteristics.

What would you describe as your main strengths as a model?
I define myself as an editorial, commercial and runway model. My legs, height, deep hips, and different beautiful facial features make me a not much-seen talent.

What's your absolute favourite photo?
My best photo is one of the pics I have with my partner in the London Bridge area.

Is there anyone in particular who inspires you?
Myself is my best inspiration. Please do not take this as not a humble thing, but I have had to deal with many things, including leaving my country and bullying whilst I was young.
It has been very difficult to love myself while trying to be as others are, judging myself and my body because it doesn't look as the others do.
Now, I am finally able to love myself as I am and embrace it.

What advice would you give to a model just starting out?
Take it easy and start with basic levels. Avoid more edgy themes at the beginning.
Try to invest in formation and training with people who really will give you the right knowledge.
Know yourself and don't compare with others. Set your boundaries and real expectations.
Practice, work on yourself. Value yourself and your achievements; don't let anybody take you down.

One final question. Pineapple on pizza, yes or no?
Please, no!
