Note: I'm not shooting at the moment. I've trashed my shoulder & can't even lift my camera.
I hope to be functioning again by the end of April - and I'm already booking shoots in May.
Hi! I'm Simon and I take pictures - sometimes for money, sometimes for art but mainly for fun.
I got very involved in the new circus / alternative performance scene after University and have performed acrobalance, stilts, juggling and fire stuff in all sorts of places. Now I have a family, a pie habit and a collection of injuries I spend more time teaching than performing. I've spent years studying the way people's bodies move long before getting involved with model photography.
I regularly shoot
- Acrobats, performers and aerialists
- Non-models and new models, both male and female
- Contemporary dance
My current personal projects include
- Contemporary dancers, acrobats and aerialists - both the story behind the training and the final result of the work
- Yoga practitioners
- The lighting & style used by George Hurrell-era vintage Hollywood portraitists
- Expressive nudes with male or female models and non-models
- Aubrey Beardsley themed work
I'd love to hear from anyone with an eccentric idea for a collaboration. I tend to be picky about lighting, pose and retouching - I prefer to generate a smaller number of quality images than a large number of similar images.
I regularly work with a few very talented hair and makeup folk. Most of them aren't on PP.
I have my own lighting and studio. The studio is a shared dance studio. I mainly have access on Friday afternoons and evenings but also some weekends.
I occasionally teach photography and lighting. I don't have the ninja skills or experience of some on PP but I do have a methodical approach and I'm an experienced teacher. If you think I can help you then drop me a line.
I've recently tidied my port. There's lots of interesting stuff in the Oldies but Goodies album
I sometimes get FPIs. I make stuff to please myself & my models, not the FPI elves, and I'm invariably chuffed and surprised when it happens. Anyway, click the badge if that kind of thing interests you..
