Since we opened our doors in September 2010, our membership of models, photographers, studios, designers, make-up artists, and other creatives has steadily increased and grown organically from the ground up into the vibrant, diverse community it is today.

Our fabulous PurplePort community is one of the unique things that differentiates us from other networking platforms; PurplePorters help and support each other, working together to improve the industry and keep standards aimed high.

Another difference between us and other networking platforms is that we're not a giant, greedy corporation. PurplePort is a family-owned and run business, meaning everything we do is conscientiously and carefully driven by love for and loyalty to our wonderful members.

We have a dedicated team of full-time staff who keep us ticking along. They use the same services we provide to our membership, which makes us uniquely invested in developing PurplePort to be the best. We constantly add new features, create enhancements, and brainstorm ways to improve things.

Create a free online portfolio and share more of your images

A portfolio is essential for getting booked as it shows prospective clients the type and level of work you can do. Whilst it can be printed out and physically carried around with you, one of the benefits of creating an online portfolio is that it gives you flexibility and a much broader reach since it is easier to share and will help others find your work.

On PurplePort, you can create an online portfolio for free. All you need is a selection of images (10 is a good number) to upload to your portfolio that show your best work, and you're ready to go! 

You can make full use of our unlimited image uploads if you want to show off more of your beautiful photos, and you can organise your images into easily accessible albums with the added option to choose privacy settings for your albums and specific images to suit your preferences.

You can add keyword tags and tag other members in your images, which allows your fellow creatives to find your stunning work using our Image Search tool. By making it easier for others to find your images (and the rest of your fabulous portfolio), you can maximise your exposure and raise your profile in the industry.

Easily find inspiration for your next photoshoot 

Finding inspiring images is easy on PurplePort. We are so impressed by the talents of our creative community that we regularly share their work across all of our social platforms for the world to see!

If you are looking for shoot inspiration on PurplePort, an excellent place to start is browsing our many site image collections (such as our Front Page Image (FPI) Collection) or searching for images based on keywords or tagged creatives (or both).

Our daily photo competitions (covering hundreds of themes and concepts) are another place to draw inspiration for future projects and a great way to have fun, get your work more exposure, and keep ideas flowing.

When you find inspiring photos or images you love, you can collect them and add them to image collections, which you can use as mood boards for your future shoots.

For a bonus networking opportunity, you can let someone know that you admire their work by giving their images love or leaving image comments. It's incredibly flattering to be told your image has been loved or added to an 'Inspiring and beautiful images' collection!

Quickly find other creatives to work with 

Using our powerful Search feature on PurplePort, you can tailor your search preferences to quickly find other creatives to network with and start building those vital connections. 

You can add creatives you find in your search to a (public or private) list, which you can use for contacting them later on or as an extra filter to customise your results on the Search feature.

If you'd like to work with someone, you can add them to a Want To Work With (WTWW) list, which is a unique list that automatically tells everyone you add that you want to work with them.

Tools for planning, organising and booking photoshoots

Our easy-to-use organisational tools will make your busy shoot schedule more manageable, including a full-featured calendar, away/travel notices, tailored casting calls, events for studio days and more.

Arranging a shoot can require a lot of preparation, and shoot plans are essential for mapping out your ideas on PurplePort. You can create a private shoot plan or share it with others (with the option to grant editing rights so everyone can work on the shoot plan together).

If you are a touring model or need to work away from your usual location, we've made it super simple to connect with others in your area and arrange photoshoots. Add your travel location to an away notice in your PurplePort calendar, which will notify anyone in that travel location that you are available to shoot (whenever they see you in various places on PurplePort). 

We know arranging photoshoots can be time-consuming and challenging, so we made this as easy and straightforward as possible on PurplePort with our Castings feature. Browse casting calls relevant to you by tailoring your personal search preferences (and apply to the ones that catch your eye), or create a casting call of your own and let the best creatives come to you.

Attending studio days, model days, and photography events is a great way to get your portfolio filled with new content, which is perfect for anyone who wants to raise their profile and get noticed. Use our Events feature on PurplePort to find exciting events to attend, including studio days, social meet-ups, workshops, exhibitions and more. 

An efficient referencing system to share shoot feedback

References are essential to your portfolio, adding credibility to your work and helping build your industry reputation. Collecting positive feedback for your work is essential as it allows you to reach a broader audience, increase your exposure and help you get more paid assignments. 

We've spent over a decade on PurplePort tweaking and perfecting the referencing system on our platform, which is simple and effective. Our members use the referencing system to leave a reference for others they have worked with on a photoshoot to reflect their shoot experience. 

A good due diligence process often involves checking the references of someone you want to work with to see what other creatives say about their experience working with them (such as new models or photographers new to working with models). On PurplePort, it's easy to check someone's references and see what other creatives say about working with them so you can decide if they are the right person for your next project.

The groups on PurplePort are a welcoming place and a fantastic way to connect with others in the community.
