Rented the Loft for a shoot, after doing some internet research, miles from me but close to my client. however absolutely worth the trip, great studio with lots of tools and props to use, Dan (owner) on hand to help if & when needed. will definitely be making the trip across to Colchester again to use The Loft.

I shot at the Loft studio today for the first time and enjoyed every minute of it. The studio itself is spacious , simple but very adaptable. Dan , himself a photographer has left nothing to chance creating a studio that any photographer would be happy to use. He was professional , helpful and discreet. A great place to shoot without doubt.

I attended a studio workshop here at the Loft, where I was a model, and as soon as I entered the loft, I was amazed at the surroundings/ space and facilitates. I had a very enjoyable evening, and would love to shoot there again. 100% recommend.

The Loft is an excellent studio – a unique place with real character that is great for daylight and controlled lighting shoots with plenty of backdrops and props, studio lights and modifiers.

The studio is very pleasant to work in and the proprietor Dan is very helpful and friendly and makes a fine cup of tea.

Highly recommended and I look forward to working there again.

I had my first shoot at The Loft yesterday and was very impressed. It's spacious, uncluttered and full of character, with awesome natural light and great wooden flooring. The differently finished walls offer a choice of backgrounds for shooting a variety of themes. There are ample lights (all controllable from your camera hotshoe mounted sender) and a good range of modifiers. Importantly, The Loft is well insulated, and even though it was snowing outside the studio was warm. Last but not least, Dan is extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, and very generous with the refreshments. It's 70 miles from me but I will certainly be looking to book The Loft again - it provides a characterful and unique location for creative photography, far more than the average studio.

Shot here with Terry King. It's one of the best modern/homely studios I have ever been too. So much space, and has EVERYTHING you could need from all the best equipment, seating and model luxuries. Lots of natural light is also a huge benefit here, and plenty of character with the wooden floor boards. Spent the day here and was in studio heaven! I'm sure I'll be back this year - thank you,

I've shot at The Loft Studio a lot over the last year and recently shooting at another 'pro' studio made me realise just how good this studio is. It's simply a really nice space to relax and feel creative in, much more of an artists loft feel than a clinical photographers studio. For my purposes being able to black out the windows easily is very handy and in the afternoon you can make great use of light streaming through the window. Above all, what I really missed working in the other studio was the excellent light setup of the studio. Lots of modifiers available and the ability to control the powers from your camera is a god send and speeds up productivity as well as making it feel as though it's easier to experiment with lighting. Do yourself a favour if you're looking for any studio within 50 miles of Colchester and try it out!

I hired the loft using the Purpleport Discount that Dan offers. I was very impressed with the sheer amount of space lighting and equipment available.

Everything is able to be moved so the lighting setups and backgrounds are only really as limited as your ideas.

Dan was very helpful & friendly assisting me where needed but also allowing us to get on with it.

My Clients were very happy with the experience from start to finish.

Book this studio.

I have shot at The Loft Studio a few times now and I have to say it's the best studio I've had the pleasure of shooting in. It feels very welcoming, it's clean, warm, well lit and has a great sound system to boot. The cupboards are always well stocked with tea and biscuits. There is also a great sandwich bar around the corner as well as a huge Tesco. Dan Tidswell (who runs the studio) is one of the nicest and friendliest photographers I've ever met and I'm very much looking forward to shooting there again! Highly recommended :)

The Loft is a great place! Comfortable, lovely little props about. The floor is awesomeand there is a mix of backgrounds to work with. Natural light available through the windows. Little changing area for models with curtains which is always nice and a comfy seating area.

Dan is a good studio owner as he is friendly, sociable, polite and made sure we all had a cup of coffee in our hands when we shot there :)

Will definitely be coming back!

Had my first shoot at The Loft and one of the main things that struck me is it feels a very comfortable environment to work in. Most studios feel clinical or lack natural light but the loft has a good all round balance. Has great light later in the day and blacks out well when the dark is needed. Lots of space to use and frequent plug sockets from the beams to put lights where you want without masses of trailing cables. Easy access to colour backgrounds but also offers great floor and old brick textures. Nice little seating area, rope point on ceiling, wi-fi, AirPlay speakers (play music straight from your Apple device) and mezzanine editing suite. As for the studio owner, well if friendly, approachable, smiley types are your thing then I guess he's okay :P Looking forward to it becoming my 'go to' studio :)
