References for SS Creative Photography

My second shoot at SS Creative, this time with the excellent Roswell Ivory. Sara is a great host and the studio has so many spaces to explore that it can provide a backdrop for most styles - highly recommended.

An excellent shoot today, what a superb location, loads to shoot and not enough time to try everything, will defiantly come back for more, loads of idea's for the next time and some great shots form this visit. One thing I did notice and its only minor, a 5 tread step ladder would be useful for a bit of extra height, when shooting, didn't see one !

What a fantastic place! It's so different to the vast majority of other studios out there, and with all the exciting plans Sara has for the studio in the future, I have no doubts I'll be returning there many times!

So for those of you thinking of going, but have perhaps shied away because of it's unique nature - let me explain why you should give it a go. So the main room has lots of interesting little sets that are perhaps what most people are familiar with when considering a studio, and Sara has loads of cool plans to add more of these in the coming months - including some b/w infinity curves and a boudoir-themed set with bed etc. But the real selling point for me, are the multitude of different corridors, stairwells, old cage-style elevators, and strange little nooks that you'd expect to see in an old factory/warehouse built in 1930!

My only real concern was lighting, and of course for some of the internal areas you will be reliant on strip lighting, the occasional skylight, or whatever battery operated lighting you take with you. Sara's main studio area has massive windows that flood the room with all the light you'll need, and I just used a reflector to balance this out in my shots. At the time of writing, I've only had a quick look over all the other shots from around the building, and they all look fine - certainly nothing that Photoshop can't correct if needed.

As for the basics; Sara's pre-shoot comms were excellent. On the day Sara helped me with all my gear, before making us all tea/coffee and then giving us a guided tour of the building. She offered advice and gave suggestions for shots, before leaving us to crack on.

To summarise, the place is awesome, and seriously... for £10 p/h, with the option of shooting with Sara if your model is a no show for just another tenner - this is a no brainer!

What a fab studio!!!!Had the pleasure of working with the West Midlands Photography Group at the weekend doing some simple body paints on 2 models in the style of horror at this unusual studio. The owners made the models feel at ease, got on well with the other MUA and Photographers. They made me feel welcome to the group and the studio which is great as it was my first time at the studio and with the group. I believe the group will produce some interesting horror images due to the facilities the studio has. I would love to work there again and would recommend the studio. Thank you for making my experience enjoyable.

Back again (actually, twice in the last week!)

Simply, the most varied studio I know. Friendly, helpful, and more locations available in the building than I have got through yet.

Going to have to come back again. And again, and again.

I had a fun shoot here, lots of great space and ideas, an unique studio and great day, friendly easy to get along with staff (make a good coffee too) definitely shoot there again and highly recommend.

I had a shoot on the 17th of June at SS and I am really impressed by this studio, I love the windows and the natural floor boards that give it a lot of character, It is a large space although does not seem empty, there are a number of backdrops available, my favorite being made of pallets. Highly recommended!

Had an awesome time at SS Creative on both occasions this month. There are a lot areas to shoot in, wonderful natural light and great props.

Also had a very warm welcome, was made to feel comfortable and had a tour before the shoot commenced.

Overall experience was lovely and I hope to return in the future.

Was great to be back at the SS Creative Studio yesterday. Seems like ages since I was last there. I'd almost forgotten how much fun it is to shoot there. Was great to catch up with the lovely Sara.

Had a fantastic shoot. Explored the old building again and got some great images with the help of the lovely Knysina.

Looking forward to going back there very soon and as always - Highly recommended :-)

Used this studio in two workshops and love shooting here. So many creative spaces to use to get some great shots. Sara is an excellent host and provided us with a tour of the studio. Works very well as a model too. Will definitely be back.

Had a shoot here last week for a couple of hours. Really friendly place, and very versatile. We were given a tour when we arrived of the main areas and invited to wander. Lots of interesting little areas to shoot in, with some really lovely natural light. Definitely be using again.

Had a great shoot here the other day with the incomparable Neena. A massively versatile site, besides the studio there's loads of different locations around the building, so you can move around to your little hearts content.

Lovely folk, parking, tea, biccies, directions where to get the good shots - made for a really warm welcome, and looking forward to coming back in a few weeks. Thanks both.

I had a shoot booked here today for 4 hours. Turned up and had a tour of the whole place with recommendations where to try and whats looked good.

Really friendly and fun and the space is amazing. The studio itself has a nice variety of props and lighting amd also some clothes.

But the natuaral light is amazing and then there are some amazing corridors,stairs & lifts that produce some unique photos.

Will be using again and is more than value for money.

Had a first shoot at SS Creative, and can't recommend them highly enough. Great sets, extremely helpful and friendly owner, coffee and biscuits, and free parking! Couldn't ask for more.

Really enjoyed my time there, and will certainly be back for more shoots. x

I had the pleasure of working at SS Creative studio on my Birmingham tour when a photographer booked it. I am really glad he did. Its a lil gem.

I love the studio and the variety it has to offer.

I even got served with loads of hot water bottles to keep me warm between sets.

Owner really nice, helpful, hospitable, friendly, courteous and professional.

I can't believe that no-one else has put a reference up since I did a couple of weeks back.

Back twice since then, and different results each time. There are simply so many things to do in the building. A creative playground for togs and models.

You will, I think, regret it if you don't go sooner rather than later, because someone else will have done what you have in mind before you...

Had my first shoot at the studio on the 20th and was so pleased with the studio/building I immediately booked in for the following Friday!

I had two completely different styles shoots and was able to achieve different looks with the use of the corridors and cage lifts in the building. The facilities for the models are great too. Would definitely recommend this studio to anyone, and will defiantly be booking with them again!

First use of the studio and facilities.

Certainly plenty of interesting areas including cage lifts. Of particular interest to me was the staircases and high windows for natural light shots.

Plenty of parking available with easy access of A38M. Nice tea also which is always a bonus.

Recommended.....

What an amazing space SS Creative Photography has...

Ron Tear and I spent three wonderfully productive hours there today with Stephanie Dubois, and explored a few percent of the possibilities.

I will definitely be back (the booking's already made!), and it won't just be once.

Really, the variety of postential backgrounds defies description. You porbably have to go there yourself.

Recommended!
