A lot of luck was involved here - not in getting this photo, but with travel timings. I spent the summer back in Vancouver, and decided to spend a week in LA on my way back to the UK (I always have lots of fun and shoots in LA, and the best Vancouver-London flights connected through LA). I happened to spot an Instagram story months ago by Sienna Hayes (a Canadian model I've followed for a while, but never shot with), and she was organizing an event at an amazing outdoor studio, just during the week that I was in LA. She'd booked 4 session, with 2 different models joining her in each session, so I chose the trio that I wanted to shoot with most - that was an easy choice, as I'd wanted to shoot with Carlotta Champagne for years. The third model in the trio - Katie Marie - was someone I'd never seen before, but she has an amazing toned figure, and poses easily. After the amazing results of this studio day, I booked Katie Marie for a morning beach shoot in Malibu, and also booked Carlotta for a shoot in my funky AirBnB. I'll probably be editing all of those photos for the rest of the year, and have content to share for life!
As for the location, it's an hour's drive north of LA, where the temperature is 10 degrees warmer than LA (so about 35 degrees when I arrived, despite it being late September!). It's a purpose-built outdoor studio on the edge of a small desert town. There are 3-4 different coves, but it's all white walls and blue shallow water. A photographer's dream.
