Dolly On The Shelf
Anon.
I had a little dolly,
I put her on a shelve,
I ran outside to play,
All by my little self.
Oh, I forgot my dolly,
I told my little self,
I ran back in to get her,
Off of the little shelve.
Where can my dolly be,
I know I left her here,
She used to stay where I put her,
I had nothing to fear.
Then it finally hit me,
I knew just where she'd went,
She went back to her maker,
From where she was sent.
I never really understood,
The joy she brought to me,
Until life without her,
Made me finally see.
So if you have a dolly,
Don't put her on a shelf,
Hold her and love her,
Keep her close to yourself.
