Had an absolutely brilliant, busy shoot with Julian a few days ago. This was our second shoot and I'd been looking forward to it for a while. Julian was as awesome as ever, and we managed to get through 10 different sets (lighting & styling) - this was a very a very creative shoot, lots of hard work so I'm buzzing to see the images. I don't think a shoot with Julian could ever be boring. Thanks so much for a great day! :)

I only got a brief chance to work with julian as i was working a group shoot day at birmingham uni. He teaches a class there but i had an amazing day there working with the students and of course julian. I got some of the most amazing images back from him and i cant wait to show them off, We have already talked about shooting together again and i cant wait to get infront of his camera again he is amazing at what he does if you want a great shoot and some amazing images you need to get a shoot with this fellow.

I booked a shoot with Julian because I wanted some high end fashion/y type images even though I'm not a typical fashion model. I've been following his work for a number of years now and seen his images for some brands I admire. I took along a number of corsets and we got through 5 outfit changes in under 3 hours. Julian was amazing to work with, every set he created matched my outfits so well and I love the resulting images. :D

I worked with Julian ages ago on a shoot with Hannah Ashlea. He is very creative and has a very high standard of work. His retouching is INCREDIBLE and he got the images to me in a fast time frame. I would certainly work with him again :)

I have been wanting to work with Julian for a very long time and I finally got the chance. Wow what can I say..Julian is just brilliant. He bought out a different side of me that is not normally portrayed in images that I produce. Julian is extremely creative and knows what he is after and how to capture it.

He is also, an extremely nice guy, that is easy going, friendly and generally a nice person to be around.

From what I saw the images are amazing, can not wait to see the final results. Hope we can work together again soon. A definite recommended to all. Thank you for an enjoyable day.

I had a fantastic shoot with Julian a few weeks back, I had wanted to work with him for a rather long time, and i finally had the chance to!

I received edited image very quickly and I just LOOOOVE them all!

Julian takes time to plan how he would like to shoot each outfit and this showed in the final edit of the images.

I would highly recommend, hope to work with him again in the future! :D

So today I hopped on the train and traveled to Birmingham to work with the talented, awesome Julian! I'm still feeling the effects of the natural high that followed. Julian was a pleasure to work with! With his impeccable pre-shoot communication, we were able to discuss our ideas, but it soon became clear that we're certainly on the same wave length when it comes to styling! I'd admired Julian's work before, but even more so now because he truly is a wonderful person as well as a photographic legend! We went through many sets, and Julian made sure we had lots of different lighting set-ups so we were able to make the most of the day - we were very productive. I'm extremely excited see the results, and would travel to Birmingham any day to work with Julian! I don't think I could ever get bored of his shooting style, as well as being great company! a true star, who deserves all the recognition in the world. Magical...

Finally worked with Julian last week after wanting to for wayyyyyyy too long, turns out we live right near each other too haha! Julian is a great photographer that really pays attention to detail and lighting as well shooting very quickly and efficiently. I cannot wait to see the final images because I know they're going to be so crisp and amazing and all julianyyyy. If you haven't worked with him then you should and if you have then do it again! Thanks Julian, can't wait to paint more faces for you! Definitely recommend xx

I had a great shoot with Julian last week! I just got the photos and they are wonderful :)

He has a great studio with a wonderful set up and creates the most wonderful lighting and atmosphere which led to some amazing shots!

I have received the pictures after only one week and I am so happy with them. He gave good direction and I was very comfortable. Jump at the chance if you get the opportunity to work with him!

Loved my shoot with Julian!! I ask to work with him because I love his work, I wasn't disappointed, I have some of my favourite images ever from this shoot, he so easy to work with, lets you pose freely but gives great direction when needed, I would 100% recommend to anyone x

I had another shoot with a julian a couple of days ago! Seriously! He is amazing! Without this photographer I wouldn't be so inspired! Infact if I didn't work with him at all I may have given up by now!

His images are stunning! Jaw droppingly good! All of this talent in one person!

He lets models pose freely but will direct when needed, great at giving feedback "nice" "good" "change" "that's great" sort of stuff, it keeps my confidence up and helps me progress throughout the shoot!

Just arrived home, from my shoot with Julian and his Students. Every set of photos were handled with a high standard, professional attitude. Lots of good direction ideas, from both Julian and his pupils. This is the first time that I had a group shoot me at the same time. It was relaxed and a lot of fun. The photos will be fantastic, without a doubt.

I worked with Julian at a university workshop on Tuesday 4th of March 2014. I had a fantastic time and learned a lot about technical lighting and equipment, as well as receiving some absolutely stunning images. I would recommend him to anyone, and would definitely work with him again.

I've been wanting to shoot with Julian for a while and got the chance to today - I really enjoyed the day and we got some great images, he was really open to letting me try things I don't usually get to shoot and I loved the challenge of modelling with creative lighting set ups. He was also tutoring someone and was really friendly and down to earth and imparted a lot of knowledge and advice, whilst keeping it lighthearted and non-intensive which isn't an easy balance to strike and they came away from it inspired and very happy. We shot about 7 sets throughout the day and he was really considerate making sure I was warm and comfortable and also had a lunch break, we worked at a perfect pace and he was fun, easygoing and friendly and his assistant was lovely and very sweet and kind :-) He has a real passion for photography that fills the room with a great energy, with a very creative mind, free flows ideas brilliantly and, well, his images speak for themselves! If you get the opportunity to work with Julian, don't pass it up because you'll regret it ever after!

I attended one of Julian's one to one photo tutorial's on Saturday 8th (I was the apprentice mentioned by Seska J!). I am a newcomer to photography and wanted to gain confidence with the basics of lighting, working in a studio environment and working with a model. Having long admired Julian's work I took the plunge and signed up.

I couldn't have asked for a better tutor. Julian and his partner were friendly and incredibly patient with me. Julian explained every lighting set up in detail and showed what the expected outcome should be. During the shoot we even had time to experiment with some lighting set ups using gels which exceeded my expectations. Julian's experience shines through and he has a very approachable down to earth manner. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and came away with some fantastic images of Seska. I was amazed at what I had achieved in the few hours I spent with Julian. I would highly recommend his one to one tutorials to anyone wanting to be inspired by one of the best in the business!

Had an all day shoot with Julian yesterday at his studio. He is a super talented photographer that puts that little bit of extra time, effort and thought into the lighting to ensure that the images are spot on. I have admired Julian's work since joining Purpleport around 6 months ago and contacted him to arrange to come to his studio for a one-to-one lighting workshop. His approach was straightforward and he explained each of the many lighting set-ups we went through on the day. I was fortunate that on the day Julian had organised a great model who required little direction. At the end of the session I had numerous shots, most of which are keepers but most of all I feel confident and inspired to get in the studio and try my own lighting set-ups. I would happily recommend working with Julian.

I have worked with Julian a couple of times in the past and cannot recommend him highly enough. Julian is a very experienced photographer (quite obvious from his port!) and puts his all into a shoot. His distinctive lighting style makes his work recognizable at a glance. Some of the images I have created with Julian will be treasured by myself for a long time to come!

I have long admired Julian Kilsby’s very distinctive style and booked up a one to one studio lighting session with him.

The whole day exceeded expectations, the various lighting set ups where explained in a clear and no nonsense manner and everything was very hands on from start to finish.

The model on the day was fantastic as where the various outfits, I came away with fresh enthusiasm and plenty of inspiration for my own studio work not to mention some great images.

I would highly recommend a one to one session with Julian to all levels of photographer !!
