I'm a professional portrait, commercial and fine-art photographer based in Murhill - a tiny little hamlet not far from Bath, Somerset; closer still to Bradford on Avon and within easy travelling distance most Bristol.
THE RISQUÉ FINE-ART PROJECT
This is my newly-adopted name for a fine-art project I started working on last Summer, under the working title "Go Wild!". I call the approach I take on these shoots "narrative portraiture" meaning, a set of portraits which tell a story, expressing a particular idea or mood.
Online dictionary searches tell me that the word "risqué" means "verging on the improper", "slightly rude or shocking" or "mildly indecent"... In other words, it's basically a posh way of saying NSFW! The artistic goal of the Risqué Fine Art project, however, is to create "risqué" images which can be appreciated as beautiful, innocent celebrations of wild, liberated, joyful, sensual and carefree moments in life.
The project also has a practical objective – which is not only to produce and sell a regular series of luxury-quality fine art prints and photobooks (and thereby, make the whole project self-financing), but also to dividing the profits equitably between myself and participating models.
Unfortunately, after a few initial shoots (which went really well!), from mid-August last year, I became totally preoccupied with a whole series of other concerns and problems which put my fine-art plans firmly on the back-burner. One model, in particular, was not happy about this lack of progress – and moreover, she was (quite reasonably) frustrated by my failure to keep her up to date on the matter. The problems I was dealing with at the time are really no excuse for this. Eventually she lost patience, giving me a "not recommended" reference. And that's fair enough, I suppose... I'm just trying to do better, now!
A RISQUÉ RE-LAUNCH...
I'm very pleased to say that my long delayed Risqué Fine Art project (formerly known as "Go Wild!") is now properly up and running. I've set up a "Risqué" print-sales page on my website featuring collections from three of my initial shoots, the first of which is now available for sale as a series of fine art prints, in both limited and open editions, in various size formats. This has involved rather a lot of work: setting up an account with an on demand print service, linking that to a Shopify account and then embedding Shopify product widgets into my Squarespace site... And I've also set up a bunch of Risqué social media accounts to promote this project (see the "External link" buttons on this page - and feel free to follow/DM me!).
READY FOR A RISQUÉ SHOOT?
If you're interested in working with me on a Risqué Fine Art shoot, please get in touch - I'd love to hear from you! Let me know if you have any particular ideas or themes in mind, what level you'll be comfortable working to, and where and when you'll be available... Then hopefully, we can work something out!
