Night shoot at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, featuring Avro Lancaster 'Just Jane', re-enactors in authentic RAF crew uniform and - for this shot - a tractor, bomb trolley and 8,000 lb bomb. It's worth reflecting on the horror implicit in this calm image. Those bombs were dropped on cities. They blew homes apart to make the fuel for a firestorm lit by incendiary bombs in the next wave. The young men in the bomber crews (average age, 21) had a life expectancy measured in weeks.
