The people shown here belong to the Flower Hmong, one of the ethnic minority groups (aka hill tribes) that live in the hills of northern Vietnam. The outfits worn by the women are extremely colorful (perhaps leading to the "Flower" name), but are also very intricately patterned. Our tour bus stopped in this village on the way back to Hanoi from Sapa, the primary city in the northern hills. I also made photos here with my pocket digital camera, and the photos are certainly extremely colorful. While that may be good for seeing the colors, those colors are also so blinding that one fails to properly see the patterns - or the faces - which is why I prefer my black & white images.
