The shoot with Ellie was my third at The Dairy Barn Studio and arranged through Alan who owns the studio. The studio itself is a brilliant space being in an old, converted, farm barn with great amounts of space and height. There is a great selection of lighting and backdrops, I opted to start with a backdrop but there are lots of opportunities to shoot in various parts of the barn. Alan was very welcoming and was on hand to assist with the lighting and provide coffee and the option of fresh baked muffins. This was my first but not my last visit to the Dairy Barn and I can really recommend it as a studio.

I was looking for a studio in Norfolk and Alan messaged to suggest his own.

The Dairy Barn Studio affords a terrific space and has a great range of equipment and many props. Alan is a wonderful host and whilst the studio is his home, he melts into the background unobtrusively while the shoot takes place.

He was kind enough to make both myself and the model feel very welcome, kept the tea and coffee flowing, and added his very own USP of homemade muffins which I note has gone down very well with everyone who visits. I now know why :).

A wonderful venue, a terrific shooting space, and a great host. Highly recommended

This was my first time visiting The Dairy Barn, which I'm incredibly grateful for. Unfortunately two studios where I had bookings closed down so TDB became the next option and Alan kindly let us all work there on this date. On arrival he let me partner use the toilet before he left and showed me around the building. I worked with two photographers, and finished with Alan at the end and it was a lovely experience throughout. He even made some lemon muffins and sent extras home with me which was very much appreciated. Alan is a professional and his portraiture work was beautiful, and I hope to return around Feb 2025.

Highly recommend The Dairy Barn.

My shoot with Alyssa was my second at The Dairy Barn Studio and arranged through Alan who owns the studio. The studio itself is a spectacular space being in an old, converted, farm barn with lots of space and height. Alan was very welcoming and was on hand to assist with the lighting and provide coffee and fresh baked muffins. What a lovely few days i got to spend at The Dairy Barn Studio.

We decided to do a studio day together which turned into a weekend. Alan was kind enough to host me for the few days and also supply me food for the time i was there. He catered to my vegan needs and experimented with baking some vegan cupcakes which were delicious.

I felt very comfortable staying over in his spare room. Alan is 100% professional & it was a fun weekend.

I shot a variety of different styles with different photographers over the weekend and they were all easy going and professional.

Alan himself shot with me and it was fun to try a different style of photography with him and i love the final images.

Alan himself is friendly, polite and easy going. He is easy to talk and we had good fun.

I highly recommend the studio and we are in talks about me returning at some point.

Alan is such a special guy and the space is so flexible. I shoot with continuous lighting so I thought flash would be a challenge - without Alan's help a challenge I would probably failed. Nothing was too much bother even receiving and moving straw bales I had ordered. A flash master. Lots of props. I cannot recommend too highly.

Fretters

Alan invited me to the studio for a camera club day originally. After selling out, he offered to host me for another day and make it a studio weekend! And it was so much fun!

First of all, Alan looked after me like no other, freshly baked muffins both mornings and a delicious spread for lunches, made sure I always had a tea/coffee in hand and was generally a lovely guy to chat to. He made me feel very comfortable right from the get go.

The studio was a lovely beautiful space, different backdrops to choose from, lots of room to freely pose. He even had space to hang some rings on which were super fun to pose on!

All the photographers that walked through the door were absolutely lovely! Alan was always on hand for any help with lighting / sets etc. and the whole weekend was thoroughly enjoyable.

Thanks for making my time here fly by! It was awesome working with and meeting you Alan! I look forward to coming back some point in the future!

Alan was very welcoming and was on hand to assist with the lighting. This was my first but not my last visit to the Dairy Barn and I can really recommend it as a studio.

Today I had my first shoot at The Dairy Barn and was hosted by the wonderful Alan.

The space is incredible with so many possibilities and ways to shoot and the studio offers so many lighting sets, props and nothing is ever too much trouble to set up!

Alan was amazing, he made me feel really safe and comfortable and even baked some delicious treats 😋

All the photographers I worked with were super lovley and Alan ensured I was at ease through each session.

Had another lovely visit to the dairy barn over the weekend! Finally got there after many obstacles haha!

I love shooting at the diary barn,it is such a big beautiful space and Alan is always so accommodating! He sees over all the photographers shoot to ensure he’s on hand to help with lighting etc. I also cannot express my gratitude for this incredible cooking hahah! Such a treat! All the photographers who came along were absolutely lovely like always!

I would definitely recommend the dairy barn!

Had an amazing studio weekend at the fabulous Dairy Barn. Where do I start? Alan's amazing home cooked muffins and amazing hosting skills, not to mention his organisation. The beautiful beams and setup of the studio. I was in awe. Really hope I get to come back again soon.

I attended the Studio on Sunday with Storm Rose as the chosen model for the weekend.

Alan was, as usual, a great host providing refreshments and help with lighting needs when needed, the studio is just fabulous with an enormous amount of lighting equipment, backdrops etc.

I hope to attend the studio more in the future as nothing is too much trouble for Alan and is a super venue.

On Monday I was invited by Alan to to model for 2 Photography degree students at his Dairy barn studio in Gillingham.

Alan as always was a brilliant host providing endless tea and coffee and baking another different delicious gluten free muffin 😋🧁

But most importantly a super mentor to the mature students helping them with their lighting set ups...& all things photography.

The shoot itself went really well and the students were very pleased with the looks I had created for the theme & the shots they obtained from the Studio shoot.

Afterwards me and Alan went for a very quick walk out to the barley field at the back of his barn to shoot ourselves a few natural daylight shots, a very successful & enjoyable day working with lovely people

As always I 💯 recommend Alan for his amazing Dairy barn studio with props, accessories, different furniture... & all of the surrounding landscape & farm land.

Lindsey, who had shot here before, recommended the Dairy Barn for our first shoot. And what a great recommendation it was! The studio itself is spacious with enormous ceiling height, which together with being well equipped with studio flash, modifiers galore, a variety of great props, and lovely natural light makes it an ideal place to shoot. This coupled with Alan being a fantastic host, going above and beyond, a constant supply of coffee, and at the end of the session took us on a tour of the surrounding countryside and the working farm that the Dairy Barn is located inn giving us the opportunity to add some location shots to the work we had done in the studio itself, Alan is also a great baker and made us some wonderful gluten free muffins while we were there!

In short, very highly recommended, and if Alan will have me back I definitely want to shoot here again!

I spend 3 days studio shoot days at The dairy barn studio . Alan is a very good photographer and also well organized everything. Alan is good at cooking cakes to all the photographers during the shoot and everybody is happy about it . Is a long work but we did all good shoots in the end ! I am happy to shoot here and hope can shoot again ! Highly recommended

I lead a small group of photographers mostly new to studio work for an evening taster shoot. Alan, the studio owner was on hand to provide advice, chat, refreshments and rather delicious muffins. The studio itself was preprepared and ready to go. It is well equipped with an array of lighting and background options and my group we all very happy with the overall experience and have said they would like to make a return visit soon.

Personally, I have shot there before and was confident that the evening would be a success which it was.

I stepped in on a last minute shoot today at The Dairy Barn Studio. My first time there. What a tremendously lovely place it is.

Great big space, the beams throughout are stunning and certainly add to images for character. Though we didn't really utilise them this time as we shot with Alan's beautiful rather large textured backdrop - it was stunning!

It really worked for what we were shooting, portraits, fashion and art nudes.

I received some really helpful instructions before the shoot to find the place, and on arrival Alan was super friendly and offering us teas/coffees and HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE MUFFINS.... I mean WOW! If that doesn't entice you. :P

Alan is a lovely person, very respectful, he ensures the model has their own changing space and bathroom separate to the photographers/his which I felt really comfortable in. A lovely bedroom area for me to change and lay all my clothes out and a heated bathroom with mirrors for changing/makeup.

Alan is there on the shoot as it is his home, he doesn't interfere unless you ask for assistance and minds his own business doing his own work.

I felt very safe, respected and comfortable the whole time.

I can 100% recommend this studio, the space features more potential than I feel we could get around today, including natural light and also location spots outdoors on a nice day. Definitely worth a visit! Oh and Alan took a few headshots of me at the end - he's a skilled photographer too.

Sincere thanks to Alan, who I think is possibly the most helpful studio owner that I have had the pleasure to work with.

Alan was flexible and helpful when my original model went down with Covid, put a load of effort into pre-set up before I even arrived and nothing was too much trouble when we were on site - including moving a large, heavy and expensive porcelain vase for us to use as a prop. Really above and beyond, and that’s without even considering unlimited coffee and home-made muffins, never mind odd bits of technical help.

The Dairy Barn is a unique and interesting place - many possibilities I did not get to explore this time. Alan‘s kit is great - pro quality heads and stands, with just about every conceivable modifier. I adored his huge distressed brown canvas background; I’ve been wanting to shoot something like that for ages and couldn’t resist it for most of the shoot!

Pity its so far away from me, but I will definitely be back, perhaps to explore the possibilities in the summer. Thanks again Alan.

I had my first visit to The Dairy Barn on Monday after hearing so many great things and I was absolutely impressed!

The dairy barn sets itself up to be the perfect studio due to it being such a great,large space with plenty of character. I cannot express my appreciation for how warm it was haha!

Alan was the loveliest! It is clear he puts the consideration of his models above everything else,he also was fantastic at communicating with beforehand which was very professional! I am so grateful for his incredible cooking and for providing lunch and snacks!

Overall I had the best experience at the dairy barn and just wish it was closer to me! Nevertheless I will definitely be back and couldn’t recommend this studio and working with Alan more!
