The Dairy Barn Studio

The Dairy Barn Studio, located near Beccles, is in a Grade 2 listed thatched barn dating from around 1620. The barn is my home so I guess it's a 'home' studio... The barn is in the grounds of a working farm. Parking is available.

The shoots styles listed here are the styles that I am happy to be shot at the studio. The styles that I shoot are more limited as shown on my other PP page 'portraitimagesuk'.

The main room is about 45' x 25' and 25' high. It has furniture in it now but there is still a lot of space - and furniture can be moved or used as required. The room is mostly carpeted and at one end there is an Indian slate floor. The room has a wealth of beams all around (as does the rest of the barn). There is also an attractive lobby area (slate floor) which can be used and a galleried games room with pool table and more beams. The games room is accessed via a fairly narrow spiral staircase. 

I also have some paper and some fabric backdrops if you prefer not to shoot with the beams or want more variety. I also have a wind machine.

Lighting currently available comprises 4 x Bowens XMS750 studio lights, two 1m square softboxes, two 80cm x 60cm softboxes, 1.5m Octabox, 95cm Octabox, two 1.6m x 35cm strip boxes and a range of 6 other different reflectors/snoot/barn doors/umbrellas and a C-stand with boom arm. If preferred there are also 4 speedlights with 2 softboxes (60cm x 60cm) together with other appropriate modifiers. The studio lights can be used in conjunction with the speedlights if desired.

A large window provides some nice natural light which is best in the morning.

Full kitchen facilities available for teas/coffees/lunches etc. (maybe big enough to shoot in too). Bathroom/changing area available - separate toilet for photographers. It may be possible to shoot outside - subject to farming activities.

My insurers require me to be available on site when you shoot here - but as it's my home I would be anyway. I will only get involved in your shoot if you want me to.

The cost to shoot here is £25/hour for the first two hours then £20/hour thereafter. So £90 for 4 hours (half day) and £170 for 8 hours (full day).  2 hour minimum booking time. 50% deposit payable on booking (only refundable if studio cancels) with remaining 50% payable on the day before the shoot. Any breakages or damage to studio (my home) or kit to be paid by hirer.
