Notifications not cancelling.

The problem seems to be fixed, notifications are now clearing normally.

We have just made a change, how is it now?

Does seem to be back to normal, my notifications cleared yesterday and this morning without having to click on all. Thanks.

Thank you.

There is no "access each one to clear", and it makes no sense to me given how it works. Perhaps you could share a video of it happening?

There are two distinct but linked things;

  1. The counter, the red flashing number
  2. The notifications, the content, with new ones highlighted in light yellow.

When you click the notifications icon, prompted by the flashing red number, your web browser retrieves the notifications and the server marks them ALL as read and clears the pending number.

So, if the notifications appear in yellow a second time then something went wrong clearing the read-status of the notifications, and that will explain the lingering number. It doesn't explain a decreasing number though. That's a real puzzle.

If they don't appear in yellow then but the red number remains, then something went wrong with checking the number of pending notifications.

It's useful to know which one is happening, so a video would be very useful.

Still working perfectly for me with Firefox on Windows 10 and Fedora Linux.

Russ, unfortunately I am not a videographer.

However, I am an ex systems analyst and I will convey what I see.

I agree with items 1. and 2. above functioning as it should.

I click on the flashing Notifications and new ones are indeed highlighted in yellow.

If I click on the cancel button the notifications box closes but the Red notifications indicator shows the same value (not cleared - as it did in the past)

If I now click on the Notifications icon again the same notifications are highlighted in yellow.

If I now click on one of the notifications highlighted and then return to the notifications box sometimes the highlighting disappears and the cout is reduced by 1 - but not always.

I have found that the only way to clear the count is to do the following:

    1. Open the Notifications box

    2. press the cancel button and the count reduces by 1

    3. Reiterate 1. and 2. until count is reduced to a null value and the indicator no longer flashes.

This is time consuming and can be annoying if further notifications are received during the clear down process.

How this fits into your world is not the point, it exists in mine.

I hope you find this useful.

Problem has come back for me, I had 3 notifications for 3 images uploaded by one model, I had to click on the pending notifications box 3 times to clear them.

I am experiencing exactly the same as Alan Russ. This is with my iPad using Safari.

I can't reproduce it, and there is no "reduce notifications by one" functionality since ALL notifications are cleared when they are displayed.

Clicking a notification, for example, a comment was left on an image, does not clear 1 notification or change the "read" status of a single notification since such functionality simply does not exist.

A video of this behaviour would certainly clarify what is going on and reduce ambiguities.

I have seen this on and off --  hasn't happened today but it has happened in different browsers. Difficult to catch it in a video on the iPad but as I am out for a chunk of the day and notifications might start to build up I can test it in Mac Safari.

Most notably it happened when a model I follow uploaded ten different photos before I saw the notifications for any of them. I really did have to click each one -- open the page and the number had gone down by only one.

When you say you clicked each one, what does that mean?

Clicking on the "thing" navigates to whatever the thing is (image, group post) but there is no functionality when viewing an image or a group post to reduce the notification by 1. It simply doesn't exist. This is why I am confused by this report and would like a video of it.

Russ Freeman (staff) said, 1652188690

The only explanation I can think of is that the model was continuing to upload images while you browsed around...which would be a huge coincidence but without seeing the problem or having steps to reproduce it it's the only explanation I can think of.

Happening on Win10 Chrome & Android Chrome - When you click the 'cancel' button the number on the little red sign reduces by 1.

That is perfect, can you please share a video of that happening?
