How did you come up with the concept? Did anything inspire you?
I love shooting fashion, particularly casual and streetwear, and looking through my portfolio, I realised I had not covered to any extent denim.
Because it was going to be a four-hour shoot, I also looked at other styles that would be suitable for shooting with Mimi.
Further images from the shoot can be seen on my website.

What did you do to plan the shoot?
Once I have a model in mind, I then love shopping for outfits that I think will be suitable. However, in this case, I already had a denim waistcoat and messaged Mimi to see if she had jeans that she could bring along, which fortunately she did.
I also asked her to bring a selection of shoes, and I bought along some as well, and we chose the pair that can be seen in the images.
Being an experienced model, Mimi was able to do her own make-up and hair.

How did you arrange the shoot?
I saw a casting on Purpleport that had been placed by Mimi Desuka. She is based in Switzerland but was about to visit London, where I live.
This then inspired me to come up with concepts for a shoot with her.
What was it like shooting at that location?
I regularly shoot at Studio Photo Gallery, which is in Bermondsey, London, SE16 (which is currently closed temporarily). It is a medium-sized, one-room, inexpensive studio that is equipped with all the usual lighting.
Mimi was absolutely fantastic. She is a very experienced model and knew how to create an array of poses that added dynamics to the shoot. All I had to do was point the camera in the right direction and press the button.

Tell us about the gear you used.
With a grey Colorama backdrop, I set up the lighting using a flash unit with a large octagonal softbox to the left pointing down and a smaller infill flash unit to the right set lower down.
I used my Canon EOS R5 camera fitted with a Sigma 85mm F1.4 EX DG lens, as the studio is just large enough to capture full-length portraits with this set-up. The eye detection on the R5 makes focusing a doddle.
I have never got into using Adobe's Lightroom, so all the post-production editing is done using Photoshop. I then use Anthropics ProtraitPro for final tweaks to the face and convert to black and white using Exposure X6 vast array of filters.

What's your favourite image from the shoot?
I find it very difficult to choose a favourite image as it does change. Immediately after I have completed post-production work, there are images I really like, but I will come back to them in a day or so, and my opinion often changes.
Sometimes, I see flaws I had not seen before, such as labels showing, which I can rectify, or that the pose now does not quite seem right, or the hands looking awkward.
Looking at the images now, my favourites are the images below.
