How to change the location on your portfolio, castings, events and search pages

PurplePort needs a location for the following places:

Only a town or city can be added as a location on PurplePort. If you cannot find your location, you can always choose the nearest town or city. If you need help adding a location (or believe a town or city is missing), please create a support ticket from our Help & Support page.

Your portfolio location

This is your location, displayed on your portfolio page. It could be near the area where you live or your preferred location to shoot. Whatever your preference, other creatives will use this location to find you using our Search feature, so it's essential this is correct.  

How to change the location on your portfolio page

  • Go to the purple cog (top right) and click Manage your account
  • Click Personal details
  • Type your location into the box under the heading Your location (this must be a town or city) and select the location from the drop-down list that appears
  • Click Update your account (bottom of the page) 

Changing the location on your account (displayed on your portfolio page) does not automatically update the location on the SearchCastings or Events pages. You must change the location on each page separately (see below).

The location for castings, events and the search feature

These are locations you will use to find the following:

  • Work at or within a distance of that location (e.g. photoshoots, workshops, group shoots, studio days, etc.) using our Castings or Events pages
    OR
  • Other creatives to work using the Search feature who are based at or within a distance of that location

If you change the location on your portfolio page and require the same location for the SearchCastings or Events pages, you must change the location on each page separately. Changing the location for one of these pages will not automatically update the others.

How to change the location for castings, events or search pages

  • Go to the page you want to update the location for (e.g. SearchCastings or Events)
  • Click (Change location)
  • Type your location into the box (this must be a town or city) and select the location from the drop-down list that appears
  • Click Update

Using search filters 

The SearchCastings, and Events pages use search filters, which allow you to tailor the results to suit your needs. If you change the location on any of these pages, you may wish to update your search filters with your new location.

Your default filter is a search filter you may wish to update first. Setting your new location as your default will automatically use it whenever you open the page. To do this, set the location on the page and then click Save as default on the Castings or Events pages or Save as default search on the Search feature. 

While you cannot edit a search filter, you can delete filters, create new ones, or disable notifications for them. To do this, click Saved filters on the Castings or Events pages or Saved Searches on the Search feature. 

FAQs

Why do I see castings (or events) for my old location?

You need to change the location for the Castings page (you can also follow these steps for the Events page):

  • Go to the Castings page
  • Click (Change location)
  • Type your location into the box (this must be a town or city) and select the location from the drop-down list that appears
  • Click Update

If you click Save as default, your new location will be automatically used whenever you view the Castings page.  

Why do I see results on the search page for my old location? 

You need to change the location for the Search page:

  • Go to the Search page
  • Click (Change location)
  • Type your location into the box (this must be a town or city) and select the location from the drop-down list that appears
  • Click Update

If you click Save as default search, your new location will be automatically used whenever you view the the Search page. 

I've set my new location as my default. Why do I still see results for my old location?

It sounds like at least one of your Saved filters uses your old location. Look through your search filters to find which one is using your old location, and delete it (or disable notifications if it's on the Castings or Events pages). To view your search filters, click Saved filters on the Castings or Events pages or Saved Searches on the Search feature.
